  • 5 a day [quran memorization]

    salamu alaikum

I have started to commit myself to memorize the quran or at lest parts of it, for the time being. Inshallah... so pray for me that Allah azzawajal would make it easy for me and strengthen my memory.

Anyone is free to join me in on this. I will be memorizing 5 ayat a day starting from albaqara inshallah.

Every human being needs words of encouragement and supports now and then and the prophet SW was no exception only his support came directly from Allah aazawajal, so let's encourage and support each other.

ps: if you are taking part please post what ayat you are memorizing, possibly on daily/weekly basis.

May Allah make it easy for you Brother. It is truly a challenging goal and journey to embark on, but rewarding to say the least. Remember, memorising the Quran is not just a task, it is a way of life. The Quran becomes a part of your daily life, for you revise every portion everyday, in every prayer, while you walk, while you work, while you prepare for sleep. May Allah enlighten all our hearts to choose this Path. Allah be with you in every step InshaAllah.

And, I will quickly add, if you are not fluent in Tajweed, find a teacher, if you do not already have one, because going back, a few years down the track to correct pronunciation is a tedious, discouraging and disheartening task when you've memorised large portions of the Quran. Nevertheless, Allah be with you.

I am doing the same, but only 3 verses a day. I've started from Surah Al Baqarra.

My goal is not to just memorize each verse, but also understand the meaning and history behind it.

Starting from Al Baqarah is great, MashaAllah. But the drawback is that even though you finish a whole Juz, you're still in the same Surah. Whereas starting from the back is motivating as you can finish many short Surah's within a short amount of time, and eventually complete a Juz.

May Allah make it easy on all those who are on this path.

One more thing I would like to add, to the already mentioned:

Make sure you select a nice melody, NOW; otherwise, it would be so hard to change your melody or even acquire a melody. The reason being is that you will notice that your memorization would be all linked to that. Sometimes when you forget a line or a word, you can simply retrace your steps a few words, or lines, or ayats and then with your melody you would find what you forgot.

So, this part is very important. I use Qari Abdul Basit Abdul Samad (may Allah have mercy on him)'s melody.

Its a lot easier when you start from the last paarah.
I started it that way a very long time ago. Unfortunatly maa na deer ye la hera sho.
Yaseen sharif I had memorised full but that too I get stuck at halfay through now.

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

non commercial would cost less if he was in charge himself which he plans on doing. right now it's n herat but soon it will be in qanadahar.
