Peace has to be the way of a believer, not a reciprocal factor extended to non-believers because they extend it first. Fighting in the way of Allah can only happen when Allah permits it, and orders it, otherwise a Muslim should show utmost patience and resilience in the face of trial. And, Allah only permit fighting when you are being subjugated because of your beliefs. Moreover, Allah will only permit fighting through a divinely appointed leader. Therefore, taking this premise, a Muslim should never fight and create social disorder.Islam will prevail, a promise made by the Creator of this universe:
[61:8] They desire to extinguish the light of Allah with the breath of their mouths, but Allah will perfect His light, even if the disbelievers hate it.
[61:9] He it is Who has sent His Messenger with the guidance and the Religion of truth, that He may cause it to prevail over all religions, even if those who associate partners with God hate it.

I dont remember who classified muslims in to three categories, but I liked the classification.Originally posted by AfghanprincessWhat is the point of all these sects? Why cant we just follow the Quran, Sunnah and Ahadeeth?
Category I: Based on Quran and Sahih Hadith. With literal interpretations of these.
Category II: Category I plus the different interpretations of scholars and madhabs (sharia).
Category III: What is actually being practiced by the muslims which is a mixture of local cultural customs plus some of the above.
Lately Islam is becoming more and more pushed back (to Category II and I). This is not better for the muslim communities rather will lead to more pronounced distortion of reality and more disruption of our society.
If one cannot be without religion than one can as a back up position allow Category III islam with local traditions with an eye on reformation away from literal Category I and II islam. Maybe we will have a chance in this hyper competitive world. Going deeper and deeper into Category I and II will lead us to deeper and deeper abyss as a culture.
