What songs did rest of the countries play, national anthem or a patriotic song? If patriotic song then it shouldn't be much of a big deal really, otherwise indeed national anthem had to be played!

^ Did you even watch the video? They ain't singing, at the background a music is being played called 'watan ishqe tu', which is a Dari song. And tell me, are Urdu speakers (by origin) a bigger majority than Punjabis and Pukhtoons?

ohhhhhhhhh God... and i was thinking what the hell happened.

this patriotic song is one of the most famouse one in all over Afghanistan... may be thats why they played it. even little kids know this song because of its beautiful meaning and tunes....

its no big deal... lol i really thought something terrible happened. but yeah i agree that the anthem should have been played

And it's spoken by over 90% of Pukhtoons in Afghanistan, plus many other ethnics. So?

how shocking lol, I think Farsi is more easy on the ears and the words hold a lot of meaning which can really inspire the players something perhaps the pakhto anthem couldn't. Maybe most of the players are non pakthun. :D

yes i did read the article and i agree the national anthem must be played, but i still don't see the connection between what happened and how its blamed on millions of tajiks in afghanistan. and how do we give ourselves the right to speak ill of our own people, generalize tajiks, and insult them.

if you would read the article you would know that tajiks are not blamed or spoken ill of in the article... rather a political group (shora e nizaar, actually hazara group) is called out. NOT TAJIKS... can you read pashto?

before everyone starts barking, we all should be aware of who we are offending. the act of one tajik or 100 tajik can not justify blaming millions of tajiks. i don't support what happened but as a level headed person I am not going to start flipping every tajik i see from now on.

should you as a muslim be blamed for 9/11 in America? should you be held accountable for what happened to thousands of americans that day.... do you deserve verbal insults or physical abuse... if your answer is no then how do we give ourselves the right to start insulting every tajik based on what happened in a ceremony? even though the article repeatedly says shoraye nizaar. do you even know what shoraye nizaar is?

just wait and watch... very soon u will see "paak sar zameen.." played in the background when afghan sportsmen will walk through an official ceremony. Pakistan will definitely break afghanistan and take the remaining pashtoon parts of afghanistan. all this hatred of pashtoon tajik wil one day break what is left of Afghanistan... at that time u will only be allowed to sing jeevay jeevay pakistan.

^oh please! you don't have to say tajik... i am sure 100 percent thats who you thought about first when you read about the news.

and as an afghan i am way over moments of sadness? As an afghan i have been in sadness for my entire life... I am more saddened by the hatred i have observed on this website. the constant rants about tajiks this and tajiks that, the useless, baseless pride of "i am pashtoon" when reality is that we as pashtoons have nothing left to be proud of. all we can do now is be proud of what our forefathers did. the reality is that they DIED. they are GONE...
