  • Are Indians foes or friends?

I don't want to turn this into an Indian-bashing thread but what do you people say about Indians? They are very close to Northern Alliance. I can well imagine how in future they most likely would be fighting on the side of Punjabis e.g., when we will be fighting with Punjabis for control of Attok, Hazara, Tarbela, etc. There is good possibility they will come to the help of with whom they share more than us.

I think we Pashtuns should be skeptical of Indians intentions towards us.

Indians are friends of Afghan nationalists.

We abhor fascism of any kind: Tajik or Pashtun.

But if Pashtun fascists become slaves of Punjabi/Mohajir imperialists than we will support Tajik fascists for our own interests.

And BTW maybe you should be worrying about how to get K-P out of the clutches of Panjabis before cooking up these unlikely scenarios.

Ok, ok. that is obvious. You have the right to protect your interests as does every body have.

But that day I was talking to a Sikh and he was complaining of Hindu fascism. By the way what is this Hindu fascism phenomenon? Could you explain it please?

Maybe you should put him in contact with me. He might explain it to me, and then I will explain it to you

I understand that Shlombay. I personally have a positive attitude towards Indians but the regional political dynamics are such that they most likely would have to be on the side of Northern Alliance for the short term at least.

You should explain it me. I don't think he needs any explanation. I do. Moreover, are not you acting like an Indian/Hindu chauvinist? Why don't you accept there is a problem there in India(may be not to the extent to which Sikhs are exaggerating it)?

The biggest curse of Afghanistan is Pashtun/Tajik chauvinism. The day you guys get rid of this menace and pursue an united Afghan vision, no foreign power will be able to mess around with you.

Till then, you guys will be pawns in the hands of foreigners and will continue killing each other. The players will change: US/Russia/Pakistan/Iran/India/China ; but this fact will remain constant.

Divide and Rule, never fails !

Once Afghanistan becomes successful [25-50 yrs] , Durand Line will unravel and K-P will fall into your lap.

                  Indian chauvinist ? Maybe.
Hindu chauvinist ? Hardly, I am a Dalit.

I am asking you to put this fellow in contact with me, because I have known many Sikhs who live in this country with Hindus but have never experienced this strange phenomenon. But a "Sikh" living in a white country seems to have intricate understanding about it. Interesting ..

India is carrying out various infrastructural projects in order to lay down the foundation for a stable, prosperous and modern Afghanistan. However this is not possible without the active participation of Pashtuns/Tajiks/Uzbeks/Hazaras. Every ethnic group must have a positive outlook for their nation and avoid reliving the ancient blood-feuds.

If Taliban/NA enmities breaks out, all the hard work will be undone. So you see, it is in India's interest that N.A. doesn't start fighting again.

One can never forget what NA did to pashtuns.
Shadow Caster, if the alliance with Indians is in the interest of Pashtuns as well vis-a-vis our adversaries and competitors, there is no harm in being friend with them. One should not look at this from the stand-point of Pakistani patriotism.

India serves as a new regional check against China and Pakistan, so as of now they have been investing positively in Afghanistan. Obviously we don't anyone having too much in Afghanistan. We should be careful of all, but cognizant of the regional realities.

your post really caught my attention... its such a sad situation that you, someone who is not even frm Afghanistan can clearly see our problem but Afghans fail to see. Alas!

Yes in principle it does, but you also have to build alliances and see what the realities are. Now I don't like the fact that India still is maintaining ties with NA...however lets be fair and acknowledge that they have positively invested in Afghanistan as well. I am happy you are talking about unity though, but also look at the geo-political realities.
