  • A trip back down the memory lane...

After several years of brutal campaign the USSR sensed that their strategy of hard power did not work in Afghanistan, with Dr Najib's ascent to power they adopted a strategy of reconciliation due to their military and political failure. Overnight the rhetoric changed and the once "ashrar" became "bacha haye watan"!

Folks like Brezinski and others in State Department were laughing their bottoms off because this change of strategy sent a clear signal, that of ultimate failure which sparked the systematic fall of one of the world's super powers.

History repeats itself and it surely does in case of Afghanistan time and time again, without failure. Today the American strategy bears similar trends of that of its old rival, everyday we hear of reconciliation and "bacha e watan" kind of rhetoric, isn't this a clear signal that NATO has failed and is seeking feeble ways of saving face!?

Another thing that really makes me laugh is the fact that America estimated that they were no more than around 20000 Taliban with no more than 100 Alqaida members in Afghanistan. So exactly how many Taliban have been killed during the 9 year campaign?

If we analyse the figures according to their own count then they have killed over 70000 Taliban over the last 9 years, so are they now fighting with -50000 Taliban? Today in LA Times it said "The NATO-led force in Afghanistan says that in the last three months, it has killed or captured hundreds of insurgent commanders and thousands of lower-level fighters."

Really? Hundreds of commanders and 1000s of fighters? At that pace surely the war should ended in 9 months then!

This is a unjust war and its certainly a waste of life on all sides!
O'faithful hearken thy vezir, for he promises them another Gandamak and for the ancestors of Hari Nalwa a similar fate has been sealed. We shall shake the foundations of their inner sanctums, written in gold and immortal will remain this endeavor of Afghans.

Thanks man. Seems like history is repeating itself.

How long you think it will take Taliban to overthrow Kabul regime once NATO leaves? Do you think there will be a civil war against the Parsiwan - Northern Alliance? Pakistan will be off the hook, they serve their masters well. US/American interests will be secured through them i.e. pipeline deal. That is a possibility. 1996-97 all over again, though this time there is no competition against UNCOAL. Bridas Co is out of the picture.

      Salam Alaikom,

There is no such thing as Kabul regime, they have no centralized military or political power unlike the communist regime which had some centralized force which helped it last for 3 years after the Soviet withdrawal.

The communist regime last 3 years on its own merit (mildly put) because the backers and supporters of the central government really believed in Marxism. Generals, ministers and the military had a vision and to be honest they really did want a better Afghanistan but minus Islam. Furthermore, USSR trusted the Kabul administration giving them fighter jets, strategic bombers and other sophisticated military equipment unlike America who "trains" ANA with wooden AK47s!

Today all those involved know one thing like the back of their hands, Kharzai will not last, America will not last, NATO will not last hence steal as much as you can before the day comes and that is why the "Kabul regime" will not last a week after US withdrawal.

As far as you other question is concerned, civil war is inevitable and I believe that is purely because of Gulbudin.

American withdrawal doesn't mean the end of conflict, it basically means that the war is going to continue behind the curtain, Afghanistan will be fragmented.

As long as people refer to other Afghans as "parsiwans" and "pashtuns" we will not prosper because that is divisive language sponsored by our adversaries.

Afghanistan can only prosper if it becomes Loy Afghanistan or in idealistic terms when there is a Islamic caliphate, the likelihood of which is almost nill in current state of Muslims.

Much realistic view,Indeed. However may I opine that Karzai should be considered as a realistic start towards a more sovereign Afghanistan capable of facing the challenges of the modern age , keeping in view the tribal nomenclature of the Afghan polity aiming at an Afghanistan independent of foreign imposed ideals exported to Afghanistan to safeguard their own vested interests both from muslim and non muslims entities and states. There is no harm in having mutually dependent goals based on national interests without falling into the trap of courtesy based on muslim brotherhood which is a slogan used to safeguard one's vested interests in the International affairs , ignoring their otherwise autocratic , aristocratic or theocratic nature.

The result of NATO withdrawal from Afghanistan will not be different from the USSR's withdrawal ,if the current endevour by the "Karzai regime" towards making Afghanistan a republic is either sabotaged [according to the wishes of Afghanistan's neighbours] or halted by Taliban.

It is , therefore ,suggested that the local Afghans who sincerely believe that they have the manifesto to lead Afghanistan towards a bright future should form a legitimate political party and present their manifesto to the Afghan masses using peaceful means so that the political process with all its weaknesses and handicaps should continue and get improved. Any other effort will result in breaking another covenant inked at Makka by Afghan religeous political parties but broken by them in the very next hour of their visit as history has witnessed.

Aiming at Loy Afghanisatan in political sense or making Afghanistan the center or a part of global caliphate in the religeous sense are higher ideals which depend upon the pre requisite of a politico-economically strong Afghanistan which is an uphill task itself and serius efforts are needed in terms of improving the development indicators and rescuing Afghanistan and its people from the tentacles of backwadness and misery surrounding them.

Rokhan, in today's world there is not a single Islamic state hence there is no such thing as courtesy for another Islamic state.

Loy Afghanistan might seem like an ideal but those with sound judgement and vision will admit that right now the conditions are ideal to turn it into reality, I am not saying it is easy but what I am saying is that if it was ever possible, now is the time!

You know, Afghanistan will become peaceful when individuals like yourself declare their atheist belief in public. Don't take this personally.

The real vulnerability of afghanistan stems from its division. The Pakistan/Punjab occupied afghan land has turned into Achilles' heel for the state of Afghanistan and Afghan society which won't let it get stable, rather it is a two way process, Pashtuns of occupied land have been suffering too.

I know these accusations on karzai and they might be true though the source which you have mentioned is multiplied by zero when it comes to statistics about Taliban or other who are near and dear to you. However my view is that everyone is innocent unless proved guilty. Having said that to be honest I meant to say that EVEN if all such accusationa re true about Karzai or his relatives, I still call it a realistic start not an ideal one.
In real world that too in a tribal soceity like that of Afghanistan ,this is not a big deal. In Arabic they say" Aamalukum Ummalukum".

Neither is there an Islamic state in today's world nor do I see one in the future not that I have any ideological grudge towards Islam , Muslims or Arabs but due to the reason that the world has become much complicated and I dont see religion as the basis of a state practically.

About Loy Afghanistan, my sympathies, my humble input, struggle or support in any form is for the idea and I would love to know how our times is the right time for realising that dream.

If your profiling instint gets relief or satisfaction by calling me atheist or anything else which could be a legitimate cause of public hatred for me then let it be however just to keep the record straight, I am skeptic and doubt any one's understanding of anything unless I get a rational and covincing argument from him or her.

First, there is no such thing as perfect time to execute anything!

Second, while we are at war and we are managing to take 55+ countries head on, we might as well fight our arch enemy by stimulating the tribal belt by the concept of Loy Afghanistan. The idea of Loy Afghanistan must be turned into a Pashtun value through psychological, political and social efforts. The psychological effort must be at the forefront, indoctrination of this concept must be so far-reaching and thoroughgoing in effect that a lesser commitment than Loy Afghanistan should be deemed as betrayal of Pashtunwali.

On the political and social front, efforts and mechanism should be put in place to remind Pashtuns of their highhandedness before the Durand split. The past and current barbarity and cruelty of Punjabies, Persians and undesireable elements should be used as catalyst of indoctrination.

To do all the above, there is no better time than right now!

Forget about the idea's of Loy Afghanistan or anything else. The solution and the future lies in Islam. Islam is going to be implemented at all levels in Afghanistan, very soon inshallah and thereafter in the rest of the islamic world. This will happen as it is promissed by Allah Almighty and this is the logical result of the struggle in the history of mankind, between good and evil, between imaan and kufr, between islam and unbelief. We are in an era that you can call the end of history, and this era will culminate in the revival and victory for Islam. Every other ideology will be defeated. The light of Islam will shine all over the world, as much as the disbelievers hate it. Soon the Islamic Khalifate will be established, inshallah!

I appreciate your inputs about Loy Afghanistan and get motivation by the idea that I am doing my part ,in my capacity , as well as supporting the people and the party who are thinking on the same lines.

About who am I and what I stand for, is not much important. I am just a political worker like hundreds and thousands of others who support PKMAP ideologically and have sympathies for ANP if they improve their agenda from a pro-establishment Pakistani party to pro Pashtun/Afghan political party. I have the same political goals and targets as that of PKMAP and being an IT professional and student of Politics academically, I have my views about issues of national importance for Afghans. My views about religion ,if any, are purely of personal nature and are tertiary in importance because political goals top the priority list.

I hope it answers your query to a reasonable extent.

Seriously? You are a political worker yet who you are and what you stand for is not important to the people in whose political life you play a role?

What if someone came to your household and introduced himself as a mere political worker, sweet talking about peace, prosperity and unity. A week later you find out who he is and what he stands for - when you confront him he says "who I am and what I stand for is not much important, all you need to know is that my name is Mullah Omar".

                          akbarkhan,

what you are presenting is a paradox. Is it not a rule among the Muslims who life in Afghanistan that apostate should be killed? So, what other choices to people have who leave Islam? The insincerity is created by religion.

Moreover, why does someone's belief matter if their main objective is to rebuild the country and not coerce the country into a specific doctrine?

                            LOL.

I meant I am a political worker and stand for the same ideology as the party which I support [PKMAP] or sympathise [ANP].

If Mullah Omar comes to me and talks about his political ambitions and they coincide with mine ,trust me I dont care what his name or religeous sect is. Failing those pre requisites , he will just be my guest as per standards of Pakhtunwali.

By the way I have been visited by people of cadre belonging to the institution involved in the mentorship of Mullah Omar in a disguised form and I treated them as I cited above after extracting data of my interest.
I love the ethnicity of Mullah Omar but hate his role as canon fodder in Afghan Politics.
