  • The sorry state of Secular Liberal Pukhtoon Nationalists

It's so sad to read daily in the news how bunch of Bihari Khans are mopping the floor with secular liberal Pukhtoon nationalists in the city of Karachi. This is what happens when you soften up your Pukhto (Pukhtoonwale), and become bunch of hippies. They are now demanding the Punjaabi army to come and secure their safety...hehehe this is what soft Pukhto, will do to ya, asking Punjaabis, the "sons of Ranjit Singh" to protect you against dark tormakhy Bihari Khans.

How about some secular liberal "jehaad".....nooooo?

The critical situation of Karachi is the result of Politics

The Gang wars in the city also create tension in the atmosphere.

What we need to understand here is that in this world there will be no place where we can have all the people of one race/ethnicity. The world will know peace when we will find out a way of co-existence. The 'Normal Pakhtun' have got no problems with the 'Normal Mohajir/Urdu speaking' person. The problem arises when it comes to politics.

And if Army comes to maintain law and order Pakhtuns of Karachi will get the maximum advantage.

It is a wrong diagnosis to blame Politics as the sole cause of unrest in Karachi. A mentality which is the product of cold war and military rule glamorises and glorifies army as the panacea for all the ills of Pakistani society. The case is exactly the opposite. MQM was created by the military dictator General Zia to counteract the popular support of Poeple's Party which was the brain child of his political rival Bhutto who for the first time gave a voice to the common masses of Pakistan and hence intiated a dangeorus trend for the army which was and still is the defacto ruling junta of Pakistan.

Politics is the only means to resolve the causes of unrest. Being a product of military mind, the interests of MQM are in conflict with Pashtuns who believe in being treated on egalitarian basis despite their poverty and low social status. The conflict of interest is due to better education and skills of the demographically strong Mahajirs vis a vis literally illiterate Pakthun masses.

The illiteracy is due to low social profile ,which is due to poverty ,which in turn is due to mass exodus of Pakhtuns from their own homeland. The reason of their exodus is the lack of opportunities in their land. The lack of opportunities is due to the lack of industrial base and civil rights in Pakhtunkhwa. The reason of the lack of industrial base is due to indifference by state towards Pakhtuns affairs in the form of Punjab centered and anti Pakhtuns Policies of the ruling elite. So the moment Pakhtuns win real freedom and autonomy over their land and resources the cycle of miseries will reverse and Pakhtuns will see the revival of their lost glory.

Talking does nothing, and is only good to change peoples minds. If nothing worthwhile comes out of it though, then I am afraid it is a waste of time.
I hope you and others here also decide to take action.

          Wrayun,

From personal experience I have noticed that those who shout the loudest about Pashtuns/Pashtunwali are the first ones who sell it out and the secular nationalists are part of that gang.
O'faithful hearken thy vezir, for he promises them another Gandamak and for the ancestors of Hari Nalwa a similar fate has been sealed. We shall shake the foundations of their inner sanctums, written in gold and immortal will remain this endeavor of Afghans.

If they had shouted that loud, things would not have been so bad for Pashtun(afghan) nation. Actually they digressed from the real goal which was to lead them to restore their lost soveregnty to Pujnab.

Most often they shouted the loudest about pity issues. But secularism and liberalism has nothing to do with it. It needed sacrifices which the then leadership was unwilling to offer.

Alas Mahmoud Khan Achakzai that used to talk/shout raucously about/at the enemies of Pashtuns with that two-yard long tongue of his is hiding in some corner of his home due to fear and ANP is left alone in the field to take all the punches.

While your zealot Islamist comrades kill Pashtuns right and left, that is probably the only option to the secular, nationalist Pashtuns to draw attention to the plight of Pashtuns. At least they are doing this. But what is the work of the Islamo-fascist comrades of yours...to be used as tissue papers by their Punjo masters?

While your zealot Islamist....mines, as in I own them?
Islamo-fascist comrades of yours...mines, since when?

I think I have made myself very clear where I stand when it comes to religious tools (in this case "Islamo-fascist" as you call them).

However I admire these "tissue papers" you speak of, at least they are willing to die and kill for what they believe in. It shows that they mean business. They are willing to make the ultimate sacrifices. On the other hand these secular liberal nationalists have their hands out like beggars, expecting others to just hand them want they want. Beggars can't be choosers.

                    Good luck.

ps, I agree with your Achakzai comment. Though he is your typical secular liberal nationalist, all talk, no action.
