Your user name is very blatant and confronting.
I can see you are going to be a part of the ongoing battle on the politics forum.
Please feel comfortable to say whatever is on your mind at all times to anyone you want to including me.
Please tell me about Tipus Sultan (Tiger of Mysore). I have heard he was a Pashtun, but I am not sure.
Muslim rule of India was a black spot in India's history.
Hindus were slaughtered, raped, and forced to convert to islam by the hands of muslim invaders.

But that paid off big time when the British invaded India. The Muslims fought them and kept them at bay, otherwise the outcome of India would have been no different than what happened to the Indians of Americas = annihilation. Hindus are majority in India after being ruled by Muslims for 1000 years. In 400 years the Europeans exterminated almost all indigenous civilizations of the Americas. The same happened in Australia, and South African states.
With the Muslims, there wasn't any racial inferiority complex either. Though with the British, Indians came to despise their own skin, which is reflective through out their media and culture today. Fair and lovely. Dogs allowed but Indians are not. Porch monkeys etc.

With everything, there's a good and bad aspect. You cant just talk about the bad and ignore the good. First of all, it would be extremely incorrect to blame a religion. Muslims were present in Kerala since 900 AD via Arab trade. Would you blame them as well?
Muslim/Central Asian rulers brought a lot of cultural aspects into the sub-continent that are now seen as inherently Indian.
Our language-Hindi which is an amalgamation of many Persian, Sanskrit and local dialects.
Our architecture - There was a gradual mixing of central asian and Indian school of arts. The dome, now the basic and ever present component of many Mosques and Sikh Gurudwaras was brought to India by the Mughals.
Our dress - The Salwar Kameez has a distinctly external influence to it. And as you would have seen, most Indian women now prefer wearing the salwar kameez rather than a Sari.
Our music - Though the ragas and most of the Indian classical music has largely remained the same since ages, the influences of Sufi mystics and musicians patronized by the Mughal courts cannot be forgotten. Ustad Amjad Ali Khan Bangash is a World renowned Indian Sarod player. Sarod itself isn't native to the sub-continent.
So its wrong to generalize one period as a black spot. A Buddhist might see the tyranny of the Hindu Kshatriya kings towards the lower castes as the 'black spot' in history. Didnt Ashoka fight a lot of wars and cause bloodshed before converting to Buddhism? It wasnt like the Indian sub-continent was a utopia that was turned topsy-turvy by the 'Muslim' invaders.
I agree mostly with KW, though I wouldn't paint such a rosy pictures of Invaders. Certainly India benefited from Mughal rule (all except, Babar and Aurangzeb) and visionaries like Sher Shah Suri who were not really invaders but thought of themselves as Indians.
Wrayun's "opinions" are too silly and simplistic to be worth a debate. I hope they were written in jest with a hearty dose of sarcasm.
Yes. Indian Muslims didn't "escape" from caste discrimination by embracing Islam. There is caste based discrimination within Muslims too. This holds true for Sikhs and Christian community too.
"Caste system" is a social evil rather than a religious one.
BTW what KW calls "Indian culture" is only true for North India, and isn't valid for East/West/South India.
That is correct to an extent. I was trying to find Central Asian influences and North Indian culture is the one that has the most.
On the point of painting a rosy picture, well there were occurrences with Central Asian invasions as would any other invasion. Conversions, idol-breaking and general looting. The temples of Somnath were looted and many others were vandalized. Walk into any temple-ruin more than 400 years old uptill the Deccan and one will find statues with their faces disfigured and their limbs chopped off. I remember Elephanta caves figures distinctly for that reason. Perhaps Spogmai here could validate that. And it had a deep impression on me as a child.
But our key-takeaway from that should be that we shouldnt categorize history as good or bad. History is history. To be read and to be understood without keeping any grievances.

Oh that is the reason why you are now saying that even Taj Mehal was not built by Muslims? Have you heard this or this is new in your book of beliefs
Actually if you see the entire Muslims rule you see many different things ... Like let's say how many Girls were raped by Muhammad Bin Qasim? And how many people were forced to leave their religion at the point of the sword?
It was the Muslim period in the sub continent that brought light here to this place.. Freedom from the caste system and many other social problems
Read history but don't read it from an Indian's pen.

Please, elaborate on the "silliness" of my opinion. Though not worth a debate, do it for our amusement. I am really interested.
