    @ Ijaz

Wrora, again, I suggest you actually visit our country before talking about language, culture and identity.

    @ Khorasani

Wrora, I have stayed with my relatives in Kunar, at a hotel in Kabul, with an Uzbek family in Sheberghan, at a mosque in Mazar, in a chai khana in Jalalabad, in a Hazara village in Bamiyan and at a Pamiri (Ismailli) household in Badakhshan and I've even traveled with Kuchis for a week, why do you think I'm lying?

Their crime was that they were expelled from Pakistani refugee camps and were forced to return to their own areas in Takhar. Their land was already taken by local warlords and they wer eventually sent back to Mashreqi and Kabul because the Takhar authorities denied them their right to live on their own property
I have a Uzbek friend from Mazar whose grandfather's land was taken by Pukhtoons, and same happened to many Mazaris. Isn't it obvious they were to fight back for their land? And more over, that's now history, it's the past. Times have changed and Northerners by far ain't as biased any more because they won back full power over North.

Who cares what is the ethnicity of the governor? The president is also a Pashtun. What difference does that make?
The difference here is that racism is brought to live by failures in name of politicians, not because of the local residents.

Second!... I am pashtoon from both mother and father! (not that it makes me any more pashtoon that someone else who has a tajik mother) and I am against division between tajiks and pashtoons ...
Look at the contradiction of your opinion, though pretending. And my post was not aimed at you, but oh you share similarity of your present position with shayesta. so ---- you aint going to have Pashtun offspring!
IN MY COUNTRY! in AFGHANISTAN hailing for unity and togetherness is considered praisworthy, be it from a pashtoon or a tajik!... the type of mentality you have is labeled as uneducated, backward, and unacceptable by Afghanistan loving afghans. Your opinion is cheap, degrating, and ignorant!. don't expect us to adapt to your mentality.
I will not scoop down to your level to call names. You have turned desperate, losing your identity.

^ afghanprincess: appearantly pashtoon politicians don't care about me and my family and my culture and my ghairat either... i don't expect anything from any politician.

Please explain to me how the current and past 30 years pashtoon politicians have cared about their own pashtoons.

as i said, lets not mix politics with ordinary afghan citizen's opinion.

your post is just an assumption. your opinion is based on assumptions you have about me and other pashtoons in this forum. everyone who does not preach hatred like you do has to be mixed with tajik... its ur assumption and it only shows ur ignorance, just like you are ignorant about afghanistan.

I have a country, afghanistan, i have an identity, afghan/pashtoon. i am not desperate... but i am sure as a pakistani you have many inner struggles you have to fight to set your identity against the odds of chanting "pak sar zamin shaad baad" for decades.

That does not change the fact that Pashtuns are being persecuted in northern Afghanistan. It is well known fact and I have confirmed it with people from the north personally.

We are talking about the current situation.

^ Even I am talking of the current situation, and all you are spreading is lies. I have got families living there and my friend I was talking about, two of her uncles have married Pukhtanas. My cousins are studying in Mazar, though in Mazar a non-Mazari with loads of difficulty gets entrance on the universities. They prefer their own city-men first, not necessarily ethnic-man because Mazar is a extremely diverse city.

You know this is not the identity, with which I associate my self, khore!, nor I love to chant , "Pak sarzamin shaad baad--", you also assumed me.

when exactly 've u been to Afghanistan? 10 years ago? I'm from Herat, a province full of Ghilzais en Kakers, 'n no Pashtun is facing discrimination! Taliban with support of many Pashtuns from others screwed entire shamali but Pashtuns of Herat rathered stayed loyal to their province than tribesmen. stop spreading lies 'cuz Afghans might not love eachother today but they defo not discriminate either! besides, name a country with several ethnics all full of ove towards eachother?

It's so nice to hear that all the ethnic groups of Afghanistan get a long, love one another and do not discriminate. How did you do it? Maybe you can give advice to those from Pakistan so that they too can live in harmony with the ethnic groups there.

Guys and gals is it too much to ask to discuss the topic at hand. Are Pashtuns being persecuted in the north? If yes let us talk about it. This doesn't hurt the concept of Afghanistan if it is a reality. There are other ways of adressing it. Pashtuns get persecuted and shot at in Karachi. This shouldn't be a 'I am pure Pashtun, you are fake.." or "I am from Afghanistan, you are from Pashtunkhwa.....". Just my two cents.

I have read a few links and reports on this. Is this still the case now?

                              Guys,

Just chill and be cool headed and rational when you analyse such issues. It is not like Pashtuns have fallen victims to the cruelty of these *******s all over Afghanistan or even all over norht of the country.

There has been cases of abject cuelty and descrimination against Pashtuns in isolated regions of the north. First of all, these things are bound to happen in conflict and post conflict societies - and the ethnic issues were exacertabted even by Taliban in the North. Lets not hide the sun with two fingers, and then hence the reaction after their despensation. It was more to do with collapse of authority than other seeking to oppress Pashtuns. In such situation there are also criminals and people who seek their own ends too. It was never systematic.

It mainly did happen in Sari-Pul and Sherberghan and isolated areas. I have family in Kundoz and Baghlan and we have hundreds of acres of land there. In Kundoz and Baghlan Pashtuns are the dominant group and even the governors for both provinces are Pashtuns. It is one thing when you read things in the news and its completely another when you have authentic knowledge of the region and the social and communal relations and politics there. Of course it is natural and what has happend to those Pashtuns who were abused should've never happened; but one should also notice that ethnic descriminations were exclusive to Pashtuns! Any way, thanks god these animosties and confrontations are brought to minimal and people actually live in harmony now - even in those isolated regions. People and the government is not indifferent to it, as Mullah Sangar claims, and its is mostly a resolved case now.

Even the people he claims were sent to Kabul and Mashreqi is blatant and shameless lie. Some retianed their land back and some were offer lands in the region. As for Pashtuns in general, things are moving to its natural order, other than that alot of it is our own fault. We are too divided.
