  • Is TIME's Aisha story fake?

In July this year, Time magazine published on its cover page the photo of an Afghan woman whose nose was cut off; the title bellowed: 'What happens if we leave Afghanistan.'
According to the Time story, the woman, identified as Aisha, had run away, after which a Taliban court ordered her nose and ears mutilated in the southern Uruzgan province.

the only good outcome of all these lies was this poor woman got her nose and airs reconstructed. the CNN and Time magazine should have verified this story before publishing.

          No they haven't.

See this VERY EXAMPLE! Of how all the misdeeds in the country and even into Pakistan are conveniently blamed on the Taliban and such groups.

I'm not saying they are perfect angels. But!
This kind of falsification is OUTRAGEOUS!

I'm very grateful that Hairan got his article onto a place where hopefully the public will take note and TIME will be severely punished by complete lack of public confidence in their reportage.

If TIME is this sleazy to blame a husband-inflicted disaster on the Taliban, what else have they been lying about ? Probably everything...no wonder I haven't read the magazine for many years.

May all such false media outlets collapse any day now as retribution for this type of scam deceiving the public !

I would have preferred Hairan made it more clear in his piece here that the Taliban had nothing to do with the injuries inflicted on Aisha/Nazia.

But he got the truth out - which in today's field of journalism is a big achievement.

I was wondering what had happened in that project. Thank you, and let's hope that the whole world hears and takes action to stop this silly and damaging sensationalism to further the Afghanistan policy of successive US Administrations.

            Appreciate those insights, Jasmine!
Just as i imagined but i did not know the part about the elevation of the gossip into valuable, reportable news. Notice how THAT editorial got printed. But many worthy ones sent in by OBJECTIVE sources would hit the dust bin in 5 seconds....

Can you do anything to help change this ? I know it's a monumental task.

You say "since you know what".
The first thing that came to mind was "since Sodom and Gomorrah" - ?
Maybe that's an inspiration from Above to highlight this unfortunate angle too.
Jewish AND homosexual lobbies have taken over so much of the society in this country. Judges, courts, lawyers, as well as the media.

A former attorney friend identified this a serious trend that the homosexuals deliberately send their people to law schools so they can get laws changed to their benefit. Then with allies in the media, no one but God - as in S & G. - can stop them!

We all have to beware and never believe the garbage that these two groups working together generate.

If this sounds extreme, let's look at this Aisha story. Homosexuals HATE nice family traditional life. They work constantly to undermine it in every way possible. Why? Because it will give THEM legitimacy in the American public eye as a 'viable' alternative.
So here we have accusations all over the media popping up against Islamic 'terrorists' and Taliban 'extremists'. What are these targeted groups? People who uphold traditional society and RELIGIOUS VALUES. Islam is against homosexuals. And Muslims tend to FIGHT when oppressed. Unlike Christians who shrug and complain but don't actually DO much to fight back.

So the only main religious group on earth who are against Zionists and homosexuals and are going to make their opinion known, are: Muslims.

So hence the media war to tarnish the image of Muslims and fighting Muslims which are the Taliban types.

So that's why Afghans must see this much subtler motivation for the overt military and propagandistic attacks on traditional Afghan ways in every sphere.

A way to reply overall -- AND BE HEARD around the world despite the controlled media -- needs to be formulated - QUICKLY!

Hairan has helped in this instance to reveal the truth behind a MAJOR JOURNALISTIC FRAUD perpetrated by TIME. Congratulations to him, he has rescued the honor of his nation to some degree.
and to Jasmine for speaking out so we all can understand better.

what really puzzles me is why Hairan has a problem with Times blaming Taliban for everything?

well taliban criminals take pride in these kind of actions, they denied it and the story was already published and in the media long before, why not bring the truth, so people will know.

The story of Bibi Aisha made news before TIME published it. Here are two links for those who think that the story is fake.

YouTube - Afghan Woman's New Beginning in America

Hmm...I smell a conspiracy angle here.Looks like ABC news reporter has done something to her nose, or could be the brilliance of some person with amazing Photoshop skills!

And yes....I have no "means" to confirm the "sources" of videos for you. All I care is that the "evil" Americans are going to give her nose and ears.I don't care if America's purpose for giving her nose and ears is to stay in Afghanistan!!!

Disclaimer: Please activate your barbaric instincts to watch these videos to avoid any trauma, since this brutality by no means qualify "normal human behavior".

Gulalai is proof that very educated women think they know everything. The Taliban are all good and want to protect our woman from abuse and this Western feminism.

Nobody really knows if the taliban court sanctioned this or not, but the whole thing sounds more like a domestic issue between a man and his wife. Accordingt to the story she and her sister were forceably married off to her husband and his brother because of Badi between the two families. She ran away from her husbands family because of mistreatment with the help of two women that were her neighbors. The two women helped her get to Quandahar and then they sold her to someone else, she was betayed by the two women. when her husbands family found her, I guess it was an honor thing, They cut off her nose and ears to punish her. I dont think alot of people understand that alot of women that live in the mountains get extreme harsh treatment because of poverty. It seems that the taliban story is fabricated by her so she could get help from International community, the afghan government, nato forces.

Thank you, Khushal ! That adds a lot more to the scenario.
                          It rings true entirely.

I knew there was some fabrication involved, because I felt from the first moment that she was desperate to get out of the country to America. She probably never pictured a TIME cover story and a huge play-up of it everywhere. But it doesn't take much for people to figure out the magic word to mention accusingly, "Taliban".

The name strikes terror into the hearts of so many Western people due to their indoctrination to think of them that way. No one but no one has raised the point in public that they are defending their land from an invasion - duh !

No one is ever allowed to think about that possibility.

Hence the campaign which works overtime to persuade all Westerners -- and even some Afghans -- of the danger posed by such fighters to international peace and stability...

Yes this was merely domestic violence, which happens every single day in America. The TIME editors will NEVER NEVER put a pretty American girl for example on the cover to alert the world to this endemic problem.

Feminists have concocted this hate campaign against the Taliban Campaign for Afghan Women & Girls - Taliban & Women - Feminist Majority Foundation. LOL even Jay Leno\'s feminist wife is involved in it Jay Leno and Mavis Leno turn serious about the plight of Afghan women - Los Angeles Times It\'s fashionable to use woman\'s rights to justify a Western presence in Afghanistan. What a joke!

What's Badi by the way? I know it's a part of Pashtunwali - means a kind of debt?

Maybe the article if needed at all should have centred on WHY Aisha/Nazia was SOLD by the two neighbors at all? Why should this need to happen in a happy budding democracy?!
Of course they will never talk about any flaw in the US-backed system. Only corruption of Karzai is acceptable to bring out a little every now and then....

                              I can't stand Feminism either.

I remember articles back in the late 90s maybe early 2000s well before ANY attacks on new york fuming about the plight of Afghan women and how UN-holy wood actresses were campaigning to raise money for them. So the stage was set WELL WELL before any invasion of Afghanistan. I think everything was planned out by the way.
Even co-opting the entertainment industry - yes, that Los Angeles connection.

The moguls of the media probably calculated "What can we do to get half the population of America on the side of invading Afghanistan at one fell swoop?"
Answer: whine away about women's situation.

AS IF it were great in America, too. But they know Americans are NOT introspective, do not EVER like to admit or see the slightest thing wrong with themselves.
Easy to focus on others to forget one's problems.

So all this compassion is channeled led by movie actresses, etc. to rile up America about Afghanistan enough to sit quietly while the country is demolished!
