Everything happens for a reason, who knows what may have gone on to occur. This may just have been for the best.

      Thanks for sharing.

The greatest tragedy for Pashtuns was when they came under sikhs and then british. If partition of subcontinent had not occured then pashtuns would have been stuck with hindus, from which clutches it would have been nearly impossible to free. Also to mention we would have been neglected and diluted in such large country.

Not necessarily, if anything it's because of the latter that we should be more content.

We won't know the reasons for why most things happen, doesn't mean happiness is the last thing, instead we must know it's for our own good.

i agree definitely to some extent.. pashtuns would have been stuck with the hindus but would have been safer....are pashtuns presently free????? and presently are we not neglected ????????

who is coming close to free the pashtuns???

Happiness is definitely the last thing for majority......we know its for our good only when we are happy with it.......thats a different thing all together that we tend to be happy with whatever has come our way.....

if something is good for us and we are not happy with it at all...what do we do?????? complain in the beginning then accept it and be happy with what comes our way....anyways i dont personally believe in being content with what i have.. i believe in doing in doing a little more to be content......

and Guley...its only we in India.....originally from Pakhtunkhwa always feel deep in our hearts how bad and how disheartening it is to be geographically divided from our own native and our own people... people across the border will never realize this.... definitely they are happy as they feel they are free... for me it hurts a lotto be divided......

Its not hard to fathom that you're a Pakistani Pashtun.

That kind of anti-Hindu hysteria is whats taught in Pakistani textbooks as the reason for Partition. As Spogmai asked, how is the present condition of Pashtuns any better? Is living amongst people of your faith the one and only guarantee for peace and prosperity? Clearly there are numerous examples to suggest the opposite.

And as far as minorities getting diluted and neglected is concerned, how is that the Sikhs and Christians in India are flourishing?

^just recently one of your bjp leaders prahlad remani a memeber of parliment made a speech on India independence day saying Christianity should be weeded out of India.....more than 200 incidents of violence has occurred in only one state Karnataka since the bjp were elected... And let's not forget how Christians have been and are treated in India...burnt alive and persecuted...

As for Sikhs they might fare better, but they too have Khalistan/seperation issues.

What would a hypothetical United India look like today?

Pashtoons were split by an earlier decision (the Durand Line) so where would a modern (extended) India draw their Western border?

Good point tor khaana. We are not south asians or Indians so I don't like the fact that some Pashtuns want to waste their time on this squabble. Having said that, India had the same stand towards the Durand line as Pakistan has as of today...so they would have been no different. I believe there was an article...I will pm it your way (when I find it). Agha pashto kae che waee dae yaw khar dwanrra ghwagoona...lolzz dagha misaal dae Pakistan ao hindustan.

No we are central asian people but we lie on the junction of central and south asia..hence we can be placed at times with both. In order to reach the Subcontinent you have to pass the Pashtun/Afghan areas. This is beside the point.
