  • Afghanistan call for sanctions against Pakistan.

WASHINGTON: Afghanistan’s National Security Adviser Rangin Dadfar Spanta has urged the United States to sanction Pakistan and refuse visas to Pakistani generals, The Washington Post reported on Thursday.

In an interview to the Post, the Afghan official claimed that the central issue in the war against terrorists was their ability to take refuge in Pakistan and not the rampant corruption in Afghanistan.

Demanding sanctions against Pakistan, Mr Spanta said “Pakistani generals and others that we know definitely are involved in supporting terrorist activities” should be denied US visas.

“It is my firm belief that we cannot win if we continue business as usual,” he said. “We’ve lost the reality. We’ve lost the focus.”

Mr Spanta said the “central issue is international jihadis” who take refuge in Pakistan and enjoy support and training from Pakistani military and intelligence agencies.

“We will fight corruption,” he said. “But to put this problem and challenge at the top of all the others in Afghanistan, that’s a joke. A bad joke. It’s avoiding responsibility.”

Mr Spanta said the United States needed to redirect its drone war to target Afghan Taliban commanders living in Pakistan.

Another senior Afghan official told the Post that President Hamid Karzai also had grown increasingly frustrated with US policy towards Pakistan. “He accuses Pakistan of interfering in Afghanistan, but then the West calls Pakistan an important strategic partner. He thinks Pakistan is training forces to send to Afghanistan to kill our soldiers,” the official said.

    “It really irritates him.”

On Tuesday, the US State Department rejected Mr Spanta’s earlier suggestion that America’s support for Pakistan was a strategic mistake and that Washington should reconsider its relationship with Islamabad.

“Pakistan is a strategic country of direct importance and impact to the United States,” spokesman P.J. Crowley said. “One can’t look at this through the lens of a zero-sum calculation.”

It was in the US interest to work with both Pakistan and Afghanistan, he said. “These are not mutually exclusive, and likewise, it’ll be important for Afghanistan and Pakistan to have an effective relationship going forward.”

That is a good answer from P.J. Crowley for foolish and childish request.

i think in Afghanistan we have suffered more from Indian sponsored terrorism than Pakistani terrorism.

India supported the Northern Alliance and is currently supporting to colonists and their puppet regime of thieves, pillagers, sodomists and drug dealers.

          We support Balkanization of India.

India want to keep afghanistan as its pet. In exchange of some help and money, afghanistan is providing its land for india to have terrorist activities in pakhtunkhwa and provide military assistance to baloch rebels. If afghanistan doesnt want friendly relations with pakistan then it should atleast remain neutral. Serving india as its loyal pet will lead it to nowhere.

If the situation remains like this sooner the hindunization of afghanistan will begin.
No doubt about it, lets hope that afghanistan become wealthy country sooner so that it doesnt have to earn by giving its soil to indians for using against pakistan....the name of mountain range in afghanistan is "hindu-kush" but nowadays it should be renamed to "hindu-yaar" or "hindu-lover"

According to Wiki leaks it is the CIA which wanted terrorism activities in Afghanistan,Pakistan and India.
No nation should use Afghan soil against other country.

First of all Pakistan needs to do an audit within its Military. Find those who support Afghan Taliban and boot them out of the country. Problem solved. We should boot the Hamid Guls and Col imams and Mullah ghazis somewhere like Afghanistan where they will live according to their views. We in Pakhtunkhwa who want peace and stability can live on and progress.

India needs to concentrate more not on the Kashmir issue as I couldnt give two tosses about Kashmiri people as most of them are criminal fraudys in the UK, but the Communist Moaist threat on their soil

                      Kind Regards

People this isn't Pakdefence, Indiadefence or desi.com forums...kindly keep India v Pakistan discussions there. Ddera manana

In terms of the article. It wasn't a politically viable idea...US won't take Afghanistan over Pakistan. They have invested billions and have basically always backed Pakistan's military. So, it was a foolhardy attempt. Having said that Pakistan has a very dirty role in the politics of Afghanistan no doubt (but then again so do their maeranae plaar US). A twisted tangled web.

You act as if Afghans were so weak that they couldnt stop the interfearance of Pakistan? Afghans choose to side with Pakistan when they both worked together to lure the Soviets into Afghanistan.

Who hung Najibullah? Who Allowed Pakistani Soldiers to wear Kandahari dresses from quetta and go and assist Afghan Taliban?

Were the Public so unaware of the dirty tactics of Pakistan that they didnt see it.

Of course both nations played a role in destroying the whole region. Afghans kept on slaughtering nearly every leader they placed into power, the whole region is based upon disorganisation and thirst for power. There will never be peace unless all Ethinic groups are given their rightful land and control over it.

                            Kind Regards

You act as if I didn't say people in Afghanistan were entirely innocent. I am aware of the happenings back then...we Pashtuns bear the biggest responsibility. However, does that mean this time around we should be this stupid? Ye I thought so....
