It doesn't take a Henry Kissinger to realize that the Taliban and Iran were hardcore ideological enemies and whilst in power, the Taliban weren't exactly tolerant of Bidati Shi'ites. My enemy's enemy is my friend. In this case, backing the winning horse was the objective.

At the United Nations, Khatami's reference to "state terrorism" was a direct attack against what Iran sees as American and Israeli state-backed terror. Iran itself is a proponent and not an opponent of state-terror. It fuels Hamas, a terrorist organization that can't differentiate between soldiers and civilians whereas the United States supports Likud, a hard-line Israeli political body that believes the value of life of Gentiles is nothing.

Iran and the United States are themselves ideological enemies. The United State's illegal war in Iraq has given Iran de facto control over most of Iraq and that's why Iran's own terrorist number one in Iraq, Muqtada al-Sadr, has been staying quiet for the time being. Saddam killed a million Iranis while he was being egged on by his Arab and American brothers. The Iranis had a genuine enmity with them because Saddam was used as a pawn by his masters to crush the revolution in Iran that overthrew the CIA's and MI5's appointed Shah.

This video is made by someone possessing a profound level of ignorance. Either that or he's a straight-out liar. Lastly, Karzai is not a Shi'ite. These sectarian mullahs have dragged down Muslim countries into nothingness and still they won't stop with their baseless claims.
