Afghanistan has no sources is a cop out.
I’m pretty sure he’s right though. The Afghan government has been working hard to increase Pashtun numbers in the army.

It’s probably still not at a representative level, but language barrier issues are probably more of a failing in management than demographics.

You are absolutely right. This claim about ANA being a Tajik force makes no sense. What matters is the higher ranks and who control them. Its pretty obvious Tajiks still outnumber other ethnicities in those ranks since Def Min, Int Min and Foreign Min are controlled by Tajiks under Ghani´s watch and they won't let those important seats to go. It does not matter if Tajiks make up majority or minority in the lower ranks. Thats irrelevant and only Tajik and Pashtun chauvinist care about it.

Also Pashtun numbers in the army will be lower for obvious reasons: Pashtun provinces are infested with Taliban forces. Many people from those areas won't join the army because their families might face violence from militants. Its not like there is a conspiracy.

We need to consider this: rural Afghans have not really developed a nationhood sentiment so far. Most of them don't care about the central government and want to be left alone with their own traditional values. Therefore most of ANA soldiers will hail from urban areas. So Afghan demographic does not really matter. It only matters urban people.
"For thirty years, I endured much pain and strife,
I awaken the Ajam by this Persian [language]. "

When you make a claim, produce your source, not the above paragraphs of nonsensical drunk girl rambling lol

But that is what the article states. Tajik commanders that were deployed in the South couldn't communicate with the local population.
No one is talking about lower ranks.

Most Pashtun don't like taking orders from non-pashtuns especially Hazara. This is one of the reason for the insider attacks on US soldiers that probably were using the F word after every other word.

Southern Pashtuns have held power for centuries and when they are completely sidelined overnight, there should be no surprise when they get violent. Its not just about sidelining Pashtuns, but sidelining southern Pashtuns, they wont sit still for that. Najib, Hekmatyar, Sayaf, The Northern Warlords, Karzai(who had support from mostly northern warlords) couldn't bring any stability to the country. It is because none of them were from the South or had support from the South.

Where is your evidence for your claim that ANA is Tajik?

You can't expect rigor in counter claims if the original claim also lacks rigor.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

Read the original post with the article. The ANA has little Pashtun representation. Ferdousi is disagreeing and responding to that article . The onus is on him to back up his claims.

Read the thread before you post. As for sources that the ANA is an army dominated by non-Pashtuns, mostly Tajiks, there are plenty of sources for that including the article in the original post.

Despite ethnic quotas and recruiting drives, the Afghan army is still dominated by northern minorities who were oppressed by the Taliban.
