You were ascribing very special (and some what respect-worthy) status to Khorasan (which you were erroneously limiting to Afghanistan) because army of black flags from there will support Imam Mehdi. I gave reference of another hadith according to which Khorasan will be the launching pad of the greatest evil of end times the Dajjal, and its supporters will be people with faces like hammered shields covered with leather. The ones with faces like hammered shields covered with leather are mentioned as Turks in other hadiths about end times. The two hadiths are contradicting each other and its obvious to a reader of history that both are forged by opposite factions. The ones associating Khorasan with black flags were most probably pro-Abbasid (as they owed their rise to Khorasanis) while the ones associating Khorasan with rise of Dajjal, were most probably Ummayids. Poor Turks are demonized in the above mentioned hadith because in those times they had not yet converted to Islam and were quite tough and troublesome opponents for Arabs in Transoxiana. Whoever forged it in Arabia, must have thought that Day of judgment is very near and those savage infidels in far lands with leathery faces will soon be upon us (Turks had inflicted several defeats on Arabs which have must worried the forger).
