You said At least the regime can build things? I never said anything about the Taliban building things.

Back your claims up. It shouldnt be that difficult to find sources.

I want to know how and with what money they build "things."

[do you think were operating Taliban tanks and aircraft in the 90’s? It wasn’t madrassa students, it was former commies who didn’t want to end up like Najib.[
You think the Taliban were all from madrassas and that they didn't know how to operate tanks? All those tanks which went from Kandahar to Kabul, the drivers were all former Communists? Um lol

So basically the Taliban rule spread in Afghanistan due to former Communists and Hezb commanders. That is inaccurate.

Had Afghans been left alone, natural selection would of chosen a winner. I think you are overestimating Afghans here, look at the millions who turn out for elections to participate in a process I am sure most know is flawed.
Its the system that says its ok to steal the national treasure. If you have a position in the gov for example in customs, your expected to steal to pay your boss who gave you the position, he expects a certain sum every month otherwise your out of a job. Rumor in Jaji is that the guy who controls the customs along the paki border pays his boss $50k a month and has become extremely wealthy buying up property in in Dubia and Kabul. According to reports, Gen Razik was collecting $8 million a month in his own pocket from the spin boldak customs buying up property in Kabul, Dubia and Tajikistan. This money is supposed to be going to the national treasury paying for security. Why is my tax money paying for their security.

You do realize that candidates spend millions of USD to get "elected" by bribing poor people with food and actually giving away money for votes. People show up for the free meal or some currency to vote. They hold partys at the hotels, give money and food at the masjids and other so called "charity work" during elections. Once they get "elected," they are then in position to steal the national treasury. Munafiqyan investments.

Hezb members jumped ship to the Taliban because they could see the writing on the wall, they wanted to join the winners and not go down with the ship. These people don’t fall on their swords, they join the winning side. Who do you think were operating Taliban tanks and aircraft in the 90’s? It wasn’t madrassa students, it was former commies who didn’t want to end up like Najib.
Hekmatyar was not a unifying figure, many jumped ship way before the Soviet withdrawal or the rise of the Taliban. Mullah Omar was a unifying figure. When his death was announced, many splinter groups started to form. I dont know about the tank comment. Its not that difficult to figure out how to operate a tank, but you could say that the jets were flown by guys that were in the Afghan Army. But those are army personal with skills who need a job.

People work for their best interests. The Taliban aligning with some joe shmoe commander in an area vs aligning with Najib are different matters. Its not as black and white.

I didn't mention them specifically, but "can" build things means even the least competent are more capable of doing things related to infrastructure than the Taliban. Taliban couldn't build a tooth pick. This is a matter of basic know how.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

Not entirely inaccurate, Mullah Khalis initially provided support for the Taliban with men and arms.

Khalis was not with Hekmatyar at the time. He was one that jumped ship during the Soviet occupation

You mentioned them specifically. You said "They" meaning the afghan gov.

no, I was responding to your remark about least competent that could be anyone besides the Talibs.

No. Khushal was talking about the incompetent Kabul regime. Unless you think he could be referring to Yoda from Star Wars or Borat? Who else got the billions in reconstruction aid? The local village tea boy ?

The current gov just bends over for everyone that is willing to pay them and sometimes for free.

This is your response saying they (who Khushal describes - Kabul regime) can build things. I mean you put THEY in big letters too. Do you just argue for the sake of arguing?

Yep, that's a general reference for any group that may match that situation; they still have the ability that the Taliban lack. Otherwise you're desperately trying to read to deeply into it.

I know youre trying to get out of it on a technicality cause it hurts your ego when youre wrong but anyways when you say anyone, that includes the afghan gov. So answer insights question. What have they built and whose money are they building with, have they even built themselves?

Hezbi Islami Khallis was a different party than Hezbi Islami that Hekmatyar ran.

there's nothing to get out of .....it's all in your mind. and insight's question doesn't even need answering, the statement addresses ability not willingness.

two branches of the same party not withstanding that Taliban willingly embrace opportunists from Hekmatyar's camp and men like Gulabzoy.
