I hope I am wrong but I think a lot of you guys underestimate the American will to keep wasting money on the occupation, especially since it is not even a political issue in American politics these days and has always been seen as the good war vs the Iraq war.
Trump wants to end the war.

There is a lot of talk about how he doesn't want the war to be ongoing while he's campaigning for 2020.

You're right about America's willingness to waste money on the occupation, but Trump is probably our best shot at some kind of end to the war. A good end? Probably not, but the war has to end for Afghanistan to move on, and I really hope that Inshallah he either secures a peace deal or withdraws before leaving office.

Trump is the best bet to end the war. He has been dismissive of his generals and even Eric Prince's proposal for a mercenary army. First President that calls his own generals losers without any political fall out. This is unheard of.

Karzai,Ghani, Abdullah are the Shah Shujas trying to prete nd it will be more of the same.

In other news; It looks like the presidential elections are not going to happen per Taliban demands.

Yup, I would say begging. They should have done this back in 2001, it would have been cheaper and less death, less suffering not to mention the US would have been more respected.
He is saying what I said and now you agree, brother lol

They have a very tight timeline. As the article mentions Khalilzad estimates he's working with 6 months to a year. This falls in line with previous rumors that Trump will begin the withdrawal in 2020. If the negotiations are to have an air of legitimacy, the Afghan government can't change in the middle of them. That's why they want to postpone their little rigged election for now.

On another note, Ghani protesting this just shows how much of a disingenuous snake he is. His government failed to hold parliamentary elections for what 5 years? But now that it's his position that may have its legitimacy (as if there ever was any) called into question, he's pushing back on the possibility of delaying it.

            .
I just said that to reinforce the "begging." Some of the stuff I say are supposed to make the audience laugh.

Ghani must be protesting the delay of presidential elections because he wants something or he thinks a delay would damage his chance of "outfrauding" the election against the other fraudsters because the winner is the most chalak fraudster otherwise Ghani wouldnt object to prolong his presidency. He may think that this is a bargaining chip of any say in the negotiations. As of right now he has no say.

There is a small chance that Khalilzad pulls a miracle out of his neocon ass. It will come at the expense of the legitimacy of the Ghani govt which has little legitimacy to begin with since it was formed by John Kerry and not the will of Afghan voters who risked their lives to vote. Afghans have short memories because they face one new castasrophy after another so Ghani has gotten away with the fact that his government structure violates its own constitution. What country has a CEO? Did they even bother to release official election tally results?

Stuff is happening behind the scenes and it is either now or never. Either there will be positive results in the next year or it is continuous war that serves everyone except Afghans.

I am not optimistic now because I was optimistic when the Qatar office was opened. I believe that for the foreseeable future, there will only be talks about talks.

One thing I do find encouraging is that the Americans are talking to the Talibs directly instead of through Pakistan which may or may not pay off.

I do have to say that that the happiest day I had in a long time was seeing the ceasefire videos between Taliban and Govt.

There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

The US-Taliban talks are the talks. There are no longer talks about talks.

But their stance was always that they would only sit with Americans for talks and those talks would only be about their withdrawal. It were the Americans that refused to sit with them about such a topic. This is the first time that Americans are actually talking about withdrawing.

Trump cares about America and not about the rest of the world. He cares more about building the Wall to slow down the inevitable white minority status that is coming than building Afghanistan which is a fraud anyways since all the money is going to fraudsters. Marx was right, capitalism is self destructive. The White MIC people are so blinded by greed that they are willing to see their peoples destruction than give in to their addiction for money.

America now has the burden of a responsible withdrawal, we are all against occupation but I think we all should agree that if America were to up and leave right now there would be chaos and it would be the 1990s all over again.

Trump doesn’t give a damn about Afghanistan but he cares about his reputation, even then he may act like a crazy person but he is mostly following the same foreign policy of his predecessors. 2 years in and his military strategy is basically the same as Obama’s except with more air strikes.

Bro you have known me all these years to speak my mind so please don't take this as a jab or me trying to imply anything. This is me speaking my mind

                        So here goes:

Fact: Afghanistan has and will survive and prosper without a US war.

                        Bogus and whacky:

You stating there would be chaos if US were to leave is a Pro-Regime talking point and a Neocon bogus talking point. It is meant to rationalize the US war as if war brings stability. It fits into the larger Orwellian "War is peace and peace is war" narrative. In other words, bullll shhhhit! You are probably influenced into actually believing this. No war = peace ok

It is just not realistic. Without the US, the regime would not last longer than Najib's post Soviet time. Dostum and Ismail Khan are totally irrelevant. They are in the past. The ANA is a joke. New governing power would emerge. This regime would be in the past.

Trump doesn't care about his reputation with the international community or with the neocons. Trump firstly only cares about Trump.

Secondly, Trump cares about his electability with his base-supporters who don't give a damn about Afghanistan and whoever wins there.

We all should back and support Trump on this. In fact, despite all the repulsive policies of Trump, I would much rather have Trump than any MIC-sponsored crap Democrat or Republican persona.

MAGA 2020. Peace with North Korea, out of Afghanistan. World peace. No more wars.

The world will survive without US wars.

The 90s will happen on a small scale regardless of how the US withdraws. The Taliban control or are on the verge of controlling the supply lines to the cities therefore they can choke them off and easily swoop in.
The Afghan gov has no leverage, its the US who decides how long the Afghan gov will last since they control the funding for it.

Foreign policy is mostly controlled by the MIC. He wants friendly relations with Russia but they keep putting more and more sanctions on the country. Obama campaigned on the promise of ending the Iraq and Afghan wars but they were expanded. The established Dems(Domestic policy ie social service like the healthcare industry) and Republicans(Foreign policy ie MIC) have an understanding over how the US treasury will be fleeced. Trump like Obama are outsiders, Obama easily succumbed while Trump is a fighter, its in his character and his big ego that he listens to no one. His administration would send out one message and Trump would tweet the opposite telling his Administration that he cant be controlled. The Media paints this as a chaotic White House but the reality is that Trump is telling his administration that he is the boss while Obama was too much of a weakling to do.

I think you misunderstand my point. It’s not that the occupation must continue in order to maintain peace, there is no true peace with occupation. It’s that there must be agreements in place and a true consensus between all parties before there is a drastic change of the status quo. This includes the government, the Taliban, the foreigners, and government opposition parties.

If every foreign troop disappeared from Afghanistan right now what would happen? The government would eventually run out of money to pay its military and collapse, the political parties would revert back to militias and fortify the areas they are strong in. The cities would be bombarded by rockets and bullets. It will be years until one side will be able to consolidate power all while the country is destroyed again and neighboring countries become the puppet masters again. The Taliban, if they were to take power would become international pariahs, the country would be sanctioned and so on. So basically 1990s again.

So yes, **** occupation but I don’t think even the Taliban want to return to those days.

I agree. I believe the Taliban want a phased withdrawal but not due to any fear of avoiding a 90s scenario.

I think they want to ensure an interim governement would be having electricity and basic water services running throughout the country. Other aspects like waste management/ garbage removal because this Kabul regime doesn't even have that to show for after 17 years.

And then ensuring that devolpment projects continue, that their state fully controls the national resources like copper and lithium. Banks, stock exchange, etc. All these things are probably on their list.

It seems the Taliban want a relationship with the US post US exit for trade.
