The stories I am hearing from afghans on the ground is that the commander of the bases basically sell their troops to insurgents informing them when to attack. The commander gets paid off while the insurgents collect booty from the base and sell it on the black market. Its more of a business than anything else. That looks highly unlikely but alot of the commanders run and leave the soldiers or police behind. The post or a base gets besieged for days untill they surrender. The government even if it wanted cant do much. There are cases where weapons and ammunition is sold or given to the insurgents.

The government is not a government. Its a big ponzi scheme. Even Ghani said that without US funds, the Gov will collapse in less then 3 months which is what happens when a ponzi scheme cant find anymore morons that are willing to put money into it.
