Did Mongols destroy Islamic civ and paved way for Western hegemony?

'Islamic civilization' should have been in the position of the Western.

Muslims were ahead of Westerners in every facet of civilization.

What was the main cause of their downfall?

To ask in another way, would Eur0s have managed to rise to be able to colonize most of the planet, had Mongols not destroyed Islamic civ. Mongols mainly destroyed Central Asia, Iranian plateau up to Baghad, which used to be an important center.

We live in a world, where certain events in the past helped to shape the modern times we live in. The mistakes and weakness of the old folks, has allowed for the struggle of their descendants.

They set Islamic civilization back a few centuries, which helped the West catch up, but they’re not the sole cause.

A good amount of the rise of the West is basically due to luck (obviously not really luck but something that couldn’t be predicted or relied upon). Discovering the Western Hemisphere gave them a huge amount of resources to exploit with little resistance.
