In Pakistan, Long-Suffering Pashtuns Find Their Voice - The New York Times

whats strange is how this whole protest has been completely hidden by the mainstream media, including the news about the landmines. most people dont even know whats going on. its really only foreign publications and pashtuns that are talking about this but almost everyone else is ignoring it or brushing it under the rug.

Especially these bleed-green Gul Khans who are totally ignorant of this or will slide it under the rug.

From the Pakistani side, the only Pashtuns that come out are those that actually witness these things happening, or those coming from family backgrounds that were into political movements like Bacha Khan and Mahmood Achakzai.

In the Afghan , pro-Pashtunistan Pashtuns are a bit more common.

i have come to a theory that the place where Pashtuns live is very hilly and mountainous. So whenever Pakistan or USA does any insurgent activity in these villages, the news is unheard of because of physical barriers.

You'll have a massacre of Pashtuns in one village and then proud pakistani pashtuns next door who are totally unaware because there's a natural barrier (mountain) in between them. This is why i see pashtuns from Swat being proud Pakis. Because of the physical barriers of the mountains, and also maybe since they come from rural regions, far dispersed, they don't have first hand experience , then when they see Pashtuns speaking out, they call them traitors to Pakistan.

P.S. What i mean by rural regions i mean by pashtun places with low population density. When something happens, the news isn't able to be spread easily since they are spread far apart and the terrain makes this even harder. So each tribe of Pashtuns will get their own isolated opinions, maybe.....

Think of Naqeebullah Mehsud and Mashal Khan. The news was more easier to spread there because

        1. Naqeebullah was in Karachi, densely population, the news was rapid and the guy was popular on facebook. Alot of people in Karachi knew this guy, he was a mini-celebrity.

        2. Mashal Khan lived in Mardan, a dense populated city.

        3. Peshawar school kids massacre - lived in a dense populated city.

then waziristan and parachinar are unheard of since they are more remote.
        I am gone...

hard to take pashtun who play victim card seriously when they are involved in 99% of terrorism in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

              1. pashtuns kill innocents in bomb blasts and plant land mines when they leave. Result is even though Pak army cleared area from terrorists but people still die from land mines.

              2. Vast majority of killed were terrorists, maybe few innocents who were killed in cross fire.

              3. Pashtuns play victim card and blame anyone but themselves. But people of Pakistan have not forgotten 2009-2015 era when pashtuns were blowing up on daily basis and killing hundreds of innocents of all ethnic groups from Peshawar to Karachi.

This long march is foreign funded and will die its own death soon.

                .
"At the height of hostilities in 2010, when soldiers were fighting pitched battles with Taliban fighters and battling daily IED attacks, the military was forced to "sprinkle" mines across the district as an emergency defensive measure, said a senior security official, speaking on condition of anonymity."

Which is why no journalists were allowed by the paki army to report.
