I never liked this Nouman character. I knew from very beginning he is just another salesman using religion to make money with his al bayyinah institute. People praise him for his insight into Quraan, but he revealed his ignorance about the Arabic language many times. I have exposed that in an entry on my blog

Yea I used to follow him to, worst is how some people try to justify his action by comparing him to Tiger wood or becoming rich. He surly is knowledgably about Islam and one hope he would do as he preached... but then the problem with Muslim scholars are Monafeqaat. Do as I say not as I do...I was shocked when I learned about his deeds.

They weren't men enough to settle their problems with the man. So they went after a defenseless girl instead.

Is that town Pashtun or Punjabi I wonder? It's nearer to the Indus, and I've heard those areas have lots of Punjabis/Indics.

He's a rich guy, who's "game" benefits from his millionaire status, and probably wasnt very interested in the woman he married, but he's already got 7 kids so f his l, and now he's making up for lost time.

Tiger woods also did this.

Tiger Woods is a kafir and an athlete. Nouman Ali Khan is a Muslim and a well-respected teacher. We can't apply the same standards to them (nor was what Tiger Woods did acceptable anyway - one person acting like a lecherous ****bag doesn't absolve others for acting similarly). A person teaching Quran should behave in a way that befits that lofty position.

That said, I don't know if the accusations are true (the texts look fake, but the ones making the accusations are supposedly trustworthy), but the reality is that there are influential Muslim speakers that have been doing this kind of stuff in the West, and worse, for a long time. I don't know why this case specifically became such a huge controversy (probably because of #metoo and Western Muslims desperately trying to fit in with societal trends), but it should serve as a warning to everyone that scholars/teachers/etc. are humans too, and suffer from the same temptations and diseases as everyone else. There's a reason why men and women are supposed to be separate, and just because a person speaks beautiful words about Islam, doesn't mean he has beautiful intentions with women.

Dera Ismail Khan, the district where that incident happened, is half Saraiki(an indic group closely related to Punjabis). The Pashtuns there also probably have strong Saraiki influence.
