Colonel in Afghanistan under investigation after video of him having sex with subordinate goes viral – Women in the World in Association with The New York Times – WITW

A colonel in Afghanistan’s military has been placed under investigation after a video emerged showing him having sexual intercourse with a female subordinate. According to a report by The Guardian, the colonel had coerced the woman into having sex after she had approached him about a promotion. The graphic video, which has gone viral on social media in Afghanistan and ignited a major public outcry, was somehow covertly shot by the woman as the colonel was having sex with her. The Guardian reports she then gave the video to a colleague, who leaked it. Several colleagues reportedly said the colonel, who has been identified as Abdur Rassoul Mayel Laghmani, an Afghan Air Force surgeon, pressured the woman into sex after the promotion request.
The way that life works is that people have views that are passed onto them from their parents over what is right and what is wrong. A great many will dismiss this crime done by an installed military as "one bad apple" to help sustain that fiction. But that is not the case. This is a systematic problem solely confined to the Afghan military which is comprised of thugs, drug dealers, local vagabonds in need of a pay check, incorporated militias, local paid lackeys of mercenaries from abroad who are cutting them 5% at best of the billions they are making.

Whats your point? An Afghan official raped a subordinate so all Afghan officials are rapist? Its pretty well known how Bachabazi is widely practiced by the Tlaiban, does that mean that all Taliban and Pashtuns are bachabaz? :S

Despite their many flaws (and there are many) - this was not one of them.
Bacha Bazi: An Afghan Tragedy – Foreign Policy

The Taliban had a deep aversion towards bacha bazi, outlawing the practice when they instituted strict nationwide sharia law. According to some accounts, including the hallmark Times of London article "Kandahar Comes out of the Closet" in 2002, one of the original provocations for the Taliban’s rise to power in the early 1990s was their outrage over pedophilia.* Once they came to power, bacha bazi became taboo, and the men who still engaged in the practice did so in secret.
Another issue is that the Ghani and Karzai gangsters are claiming to be the harbingers or women, dog's, Hindu, and Weinstein rights. Instead, they are a replica of the armies we see world round in places like Latin America, South Asia, Central Asia, Middle East that are hardly that and are instead installed to serve everyone else but the Afghan people. Rather, their concerns have nothing to do with women rights etc. but securing of monies and power.

No body raped anyone. Anyone who looks through the video can tell that she is in there willingly. She either framed him or is blackmailing him for more money. I am not saying what he is they did is right but this is a disrespect to actual rape crimes.
An 85 year old woman has her limbs chopped off of her before she is killed for being involved or supporting the Afghan government by taliban but loaded old ****tards like him are roaming around freely, even after videos of his sex life are all over the internet. Where is taliban’s sense of justice when it comes to capturing actual criminals??

This is straight up quote mining.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

            Is this even real?

I couldn't find any mention of it on any reputable media source in Pashto or English. Every story seems to be based on Pajhwok.

And I haven't seen any mention of it on Facebook.

A few years back some unreliable sites tried spreading a story about a senior member of the Taliban raping women (can't remember the details, but I believe he was supposed to be a doctor and the victims he was raping were patients), and made some videos supposedly depicting the acts. It ended up getting repeated in some small time English sites too (mostly the Breitbart types). Eventually people figured out that the videos were just some random low quality porn that had nothing to do with the Taliban or Afghanistan.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was a similar case. Pajhwok couldn't even get the guy's name right lol.

Do you mean the Facebook account or the other story?

The Facebook account was a fake so I removed that part of my post. The made up story about the Taliban happened a long time ago, but I could probably find it if you want it.

Also, that info is incorrect. Testimony shows it was in fact coerced:

Outrage at video of Afghan colonel sexually exploiting woman | World news | The Guardian

Several of the colonel’s co-workers confirmed that he had pressured the woman for sex when she approached him for a promotion.
“I know he has done this many times [with other women]” said one pilot, requesting anonymity. Another pilot told the Guardian that the colonel, who has been named in local media, is known to line up girls in his office and taunt them with derogatory jokes. Both said they had not spoken out before, out of fear of reprisal.
More likely these are needy people who have to work the job they do and are between the options of not sending money home to the family vs dealing with his behavior.

Does rape have to involve physical violence to be classified rape?

what if someone is holding a gun to a someone's head? choices are Death or rape.

                          Blackmail? similar thing

                          taking advantage of volnurable people?

                          etc.

forcing people into sex is rape. Just because someone isn't fighting back/resisting something, doesn't mean they are willingly doing something.

It's disgraceful that this type of things happen in an Islamic country. There is a need to cleanse this country of these type of people. Purify the country of filth like this.

Surprise suprise. Who would have taught that in a goverment what if full of war criminals who in the past did nothing more that kill, rape and destroy would have an army colonel who pushes women in to sex.

This is probably the tip of the iceberg, god know waht this pious "Islamic" warriors in their "Islamic" country with "Islamic" laws are doing.

What I said here is based on the content of a verbal interaction on a different video of the same two people mentioned here. The video was mute and the quality was **** but the body language was pretty obvious.
When a person is being attacked or in danger of being sexually assaulted, there is a lot of things that happen and laying down there casually with your legs crossed while the man is pleading for your affection is not one of those things.
Obviously he wouldn’t record himself participating in something like this and rooms don’t have video cameras in Afghanistan so she sit him up and the fact that she is not facing the camera at any point in any of these videos indicates that she is not entirely innocent.
Rape in a western society is rape in places of Afghanistan is not the same that if there is no struggle, it can still be considered as rape. In places like Afghanistan, the victim would be beyond distressed by the mere idea of being in a locked room with a potential offender or aggressor. A lot of precaution would be taken before you even end up in a building that you are not familiar with. A woman in her right mind would never go to the house or office of a man of a higher position because chances of her getting assaulted is 99.9%. It is not a common thing for a woman to accidentally end up near men of his position. She was promised something which she or someone on her behalf agreed to. That’s all I am saying.
