Yeah, I know that the tittle sound like a cliché movie, but nevertheless it is something that may be needed for Afghanistan.
In the horrific attack that took place in Kabul shocked all Afghans from all backgrounds both in the west and in Afghanistan. As every single Afghan, me and my circle showed support in solidarity for our decreased brethren in Kabul. It was indeed a big loss for the people of Afghanistan.
To make things short. I personally found the event very unpleasant and the need for analyzing it itching. First of all, the production that requires to produces 1,5 ton explosives(1500 kg) in one go, is far from the capability of Afghanistan's government, let along any none governmental groups. A few days before the incident the same amount of explosives were found transporting from Pakistan into Jalalabad in a truck, but got caught by the security forces and another in Khair khana, Kabul. So obviously there were only one possibility, that either Pakistan or Iran was involved in the attack. In the end I concluded that the only possible way to reduce the terror attacks inside Afghanistan was by completely sealing off the Pakistani border and if anyone had business inside Pakistan, they could take a plane.
Of course in the wake of this terror attack and the solidarity shown by all groups, I thought it will be a uniting point of all Afghans. I thought people after uniting will start discussing solution for Afghanistan and discuss how to reduce terror attacks and other destabilizing factors, but ohh God how wrong I was.
The next day I see a huge demonstration. All good so far. It is the right of the people to peacefully demonstrate and demand justice. At least this was supposed to happen or initially what it was. Suddenly we see Jamiati flags and a crowd of people marching with guns and chanting death to any Pashtun in the government. Suddenly they systematically turn the entire demonstration into anti government protest. All of a sudden they demand the resignation of the president and like that, in a blink of an eye the entire protest was turned into a coup attempt. Armed Jamiati men going inside the crowd of protest and start shooting our own police, just to initiate a response from the police, so they can use it for the propaganda and tell the people and world, that the governmental forces are shooting at protesters. Yeah, I haven't been disgusted like I was in that day for many years. Jamiat, an Afghan political party politicizing the Afghan victims of one of the deadliest attack in Afghanistan... any sane person will be disgusted. A call for unity turned into an attempt to overthrow the government by power hungry people.
Instead of calming down the situation and showing support for our nation’s government, the social media warriors started to resort to sectarianism. Name calling Pashtuns; calling us fascist and many vulgar insults that I can’t display in a forum or any other platform for that matter. I honestly asked myself, is that the kind of people you want to live with... I know that what is written in social media shouldn't be taken seriously, but in the ground level the protest spoke for itself. Yeah… makes you wonder.
First of all, it is important that we take the Ashraf Ghani issue at hand. People call him fascist and among other things, but what the ground for that. I am no big supporter of any political figure in Afghanistan and that includes Ghani, but the question always arise, why is he fascist... The biggest investment by the Afghan government is made in central Afghanistan in Bamyan, a Hazara dominated place. One of the most well known dam was finally constructed in Herat, which again isn't Pashtun dominated. The trading hub was shifted from Pakistan which was in south and east of the country, to the north with central Asian countries, particular Tajikistan. So I indeed started to question why is he called fascist by Farsiwans, and frankly speaking the answer is obvious; he happens to be a Pashtun. This is all it takes to be called a fascist in Afghanistan, you just need to be a Pashtun. Of course it is a provoking thought when you desperately want the best for Afghanistan and all of sudden, you're stigmatized solely because of your ethnic background.
After 16+ years of relying on the US for backing and Pakistan for trade, we Afghans finally manage to domestically be somewhat live independently from them. Our domestically product slow but steadily improved and we found many alternative partners. We manage to isolate Pakistan and highlighted the terror support done by Pakistan, which in return put pressure on Pakistan. So I actually thought we Afghans would see a bright future. Yes, the Taliban attacks and gain was intensified, but Afghanistan was getting more independent, so it was only matter of time before the threat was gone. All of a sudden they had watches, but we had the time.
Then Jamiati came. A steady progress turned into a foresight of hopelessness. Don't get me wrong, Jamiati have not the power that they're portrayed to have and will never manage to harm the government, if push comes to shove. So what the problem you ask. The problem is the mentality of the Afghan people. Instead of initiating nationwide solidarity and creating stronger bond between the groups under the Afghan umbrella, they’re resorting to sectarianism. Instead of condemning the complete immoral action of Jamiat, they’re actually getting behind them in support and destabilizing already fractured nation. Those terror attacks was initiated to bring destabilization to the country and with the help of Jamiat, the people played right into it. If the enemy of the nation both foreign and domestic, with so little action can make Afghans dance to its tunes; is it really meant to be?
The US patience is running low with Afghanistan, so if people are relying on the US; you can already starting washing your hands, they will not be there for you. In any case, if Tajiks or any other group trying to initiate war, we should no longer sweep away and let the things take its course regardless where it may lead to, because we cannot accept a group like Jamiat who’re unwilling to work for the interest of the nation and if Tajiks supports them despite the immoral action done by them, then there is nothing to talk about. They were part of insurgency 1960/70 when Afghanistan was peaceful and well developing, with the support of Pakistan. And it continued throughout 1980. Finally after the US withdrawal, they were part of the cruel civil war. Now after 16 years of dependency; Afghanistan mange to make the ground work for independency and all of sudden they’re trying to initiate another havoc in Afghanistan. I am sorry, but I just can’t watch Afghanistan improve then all of sudden let Jamiat destroy it again. So I urge everyone to not sweep away and be under political pressure. If Jamiat initiate war, let them get it.
