By your logic because Pashto is spoken by only 15% it can't be a national language, well Urdu is only the mother-tongue of 8% of Pakistan (Karachiwalas) so if anything Punjabi and Pashto, even Sindhi, have more legitimacy as unifying tongues than Urdu.
Urdu is the most commonly understood language across Pakistan . If a Sindhi goes to Peshawar , he doesn't need to learn Pashto as he can converse in Urdu easily . If a Punjabi goes to Karachi he doesn't need to learn Sindhi . Hence you have a language at hand which is spoken and understood by all People . Inside Pakistan we have around 92 languages and dozens of ethnicities . In My previous university we had people from Chitral , Gilgit , Hunza , Balochistan , Azad Kashmir . It was very easy for them to talk to each other because each one of them knew Urdu and had no problem with it .

In Afghanistan everything is divided along ethnic lines . That is why i believe there will never be peace inside Afghanistan even if foreigners go away . Tajiks , Pashtuns , Uzbek will start slaughtering each other (has happened in past) .

Vast majority of Mohajirs did not 'adopt' Urdu, they all have different origins for sure (Gujrati, Rajastani, Punjabi etc.) but most of them already spoke some form of Urdu. So yes, this was not only language oppression towards other Pakistanis but also other Muhajirs who had to adopt Urdu in favour of Gujarati et al.

Imposing punjabi on others will be unfair just because it's spoken by half.
Are you dumb blud? I just told you Urdu is spoken by 8% as a mother-tongue, Punjabi is vastly superior to Urdu in terms of the sheer number of people who speak it. I don't advocate that it should be official, but it has more legitimacy to be the sole official than Urdu for sure. Same goes for Pashto, Sindhi & Balochi Zaban.

I'm fine with Urdu for inter-ethnic communication, my issue is not giving other (native) languages official status. In India you have over twenty official languages. Each region enjoys its own identity while maintaining a healthy respect for their Indian identity. Afghanistan has two: Persian and Pashto. Pakistan in comparison has Urdu which had nothing to do with this region before 1947 and English which most people still can't speak because there's 'Urdu medium' for the poor, and English for the elite.

LOL. Nobody cares what Musharraf thinks. He's been discredited and slapped down so many times with his two faced double talk and uneducated opinions on Afghanistan.

Everybody knows that Musharraf airlifted hundreds (some say thousands) of Taliban leaders, fighters and ISI personel out of Kunduz in November 2001.

Musharraf's regime sheltered the Taliban, reactived them and supported them post-9/11.

We also know now that even Osama Bin Laden was sheltering in Pakiland while Musharraf was running that filthy 'country'.

Armitage has also confirmed having confronted Musharraf on many occassions about closing terrorist training camps in Pakiland and Kashmir that US spies had uncovered.

And of course Musharraf himself admitted that Armitage once threatened this:

The difference is that Pashto is not related to Urdu, unlike Punjabi which is basically a Dalit dialect of Hindustani (aka Hindu and Urdu).

Urdu and Punjabi are very closely related. So it obviously does not matter for Punjabis if it is Urdu or Punjabi as their official language of Pakiland.

Urdu is just the more literary version of Hindustani because it has tried to rip off Persian words and phrases and was promoted by the Mughals so that they could speak with the conquered South Asian natives that they ruled over.

Punjabi on the other hand is the more native 'low caste' Hindu dialect of Hindustani that nobody has ever taken seriously as a language except for Sikhs and a tiny few number of Sufis that were also converted from Dalits and Jats.

But to be fair, both Urdu and Punjabi are really sh** sounding languages that should be spoken only by their native Dravidians.

Because Urdu is an Indic language and represents Indic identity. Punjabi and Sindhis can culturally identify with urdu since they have had it apart of their cultural history for sometime.

Pashtuns have not. Not recognizing Pashto implies Indic bias.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

Doesn't matter, sindhi and punjabi can't understand each other if not for urdu. This is unfair to afghani pakhtuns that another ethnic group language is by default state language in multi ethnic country.

It doesn't matter to you because you're Indic, Pashtuns are not, there's no reason for us to adopt Indic cultural heritage.

Pashtuns are Pakistanis, urdu is state language. There is no other way, deal with it and worry about Afghan civil war over language and ethnicity.

LOL. You dont know your own pathetic grand total of 70 years of paki history.

Civil war over language is what happened to Pakiland and led to the dismemberment of Pakiland and separation of Bangladesh.

Following this humiliation Pakiland was then met with even more inter-ethnic civil unrest in Sindh during the 1970s, 80s and 90s during the Sindhi agitation.

Baloch have been rebelling against Pakiland since it's creation. Hundreds of Punjabi migrants have been killed by terrorists and thousands more Punjabi migrants have been chased out of occupied Balochistan.

Pashtuns and Mohajirs have been killing each other in Karachi since the 1980s. Sindhis and Mohajirs have been killing each other in the 70s, 80s and 90s.

Now Bangladesh is independent after a humiliating defeat for the Pakis and their crap "two nation theory" and are back to fully embracing their Bengali language and celebrate their true culture, unlike Punjabis who are ashamed of their own Dalit language and culture and deny their Hindu low caste roots and tell lies to pretend that they are "Middle Eastern" or "Central Asian",

Majority of Pakistani Pashtun's will gladly tell you that they are Pakistani's first . If they don't have any problem why do you ? Or is it because despite being 40 % of the population you guys are being thrown out of everything and think that's how **** works in Pakistan ?

Everything in Afghanistan is about race , colour and ethnicity . No concrete contributions to anything so you have to talk about stuff like this to compensate for all that . One of the reasons your country is bull**** because of all this medieval talk .

Exactly, Pakistan has had a track record of trying to silence ethnic rights groups, so they create this chimera that it doesn't have ethnic struggle. Even the Pashtunistan movement was homegrown Pashtuns from the other side of the Durand Line petitioning the Afghan kings.

these people are in such denial.

I've never seen any statistics on this, by any authentic source. So I suspect this is confirmation bias. If my first hand experience is of any meaning for me. Most Pashtuns who come from Sarhad tell me their region of origin first. Like Swat or Bannu or something.

I never see Pakistani Pashtuns brandishing their Pakistani identity except during special holidays related to Pakistan. But in general no, Only the house-slave variety ...do that and they seem to only exist online, which suggests they're probably on some sort of Pakistani "digital engagement team" to manufacture a narrative.

And wait, weren't you just trying to play race card earlier? What a back peddle after being shown Pashto is very highly represented in Afghanistan ....doing the Bait and Switch again eh?
