    World war requires equal global powers facing each other, right now there's no equal power to NATO.

      Future wars are going to be only economic and through proxy. Even if equal global powers are facing each other, mutual assured destruction will prevent any kind of direct conflict. The game equal powers will play is to try to bankrupt the other.

        A World war is probably inevitable ...One superpower declining and New superpower emerging to fill Up the vacum....
        If USA is superpower today, someday they will be replaced by another...IT might require a World war

          Yeah you are right that there are some things such as nuclear deterrence, complex interdependence, modern technology, international institutions, capitalism, individual activism that will prevail over irrational warmongerism.. still anything can happen. We also live in a far more unstable and unpredictable world. Many factors are involved. Its possible that just one event might bring a cascade of other negative events... sh*t happens.

            The age of superpowers is gone. A multipolar order with several regional powers fighting each other is here. Basically we are witnessing the death of the post-Westphalian order of equal nation-states. Sphere of influences are back.
