  • Month names in Pashto -- another absurdity from Afghanistan

I just noticed that in Afghanistan , the simple Pashto translation of Zodiac signs are used as names of months ....apparently this type of calender was copied from Iran who came up with 1925....it seems Afghan monarchs has messed a lot with Pashtun heritage......only a joker will use larram (scorpian), kub (fish) etc for months .......Pashtuns in Pakistan use names chaiter , Sawanr, Badro, Jaitt etc for months and since Pashtuns from even very remote and isolated areas use it so Pashtuns must have adopted this Indian calender since ancient times (not surprising as Suleiman mountain range is adjacent to Hind)

Another such absurdity from Afghanistan was in 1925 when Amanullah discarded historical Rupai/Rupee and introduced Afghani as sign of independence from British India and to give Afghan-ness......not knowing that Rupee was in use in Afghanistan since 16th century and was actually an innovation of brilliant Afghan king Sher Shah

Reason is Afghanis hated Indians. Rupya is sanskrit word for silver coin, first was issued in Maurya empire as rupyarupa. Which interestingly also has origin in Bihar like Sher Shah coin. Got this information from wiki.

Pakistan should also have changed the name of its currency to make a separate identity. Maybe by changing a few things, the world would have started seeing Pakistan as a separate nation from India rather than classing Pakistanis the same as Indians as they do now. I think it was a good move by the Afghans to have a separate currency.

Non-sense, Rupee has nothing to do with Mauriyas, stop relying on Wikipedia

                    Wikipedia is pretty good source.

"Silver coin of the Maurya Empire, known as rupyarupa, with symbols of wheel and elephant. 3rd century BC. The term is from rūpya, a Sanskrit term for silver coin,[7] from Sanskrit rūpá, beautiful form.[8]"

So it's make sense for Afghanis to not use indic word for their currency.
