of cource they were pashtuns . we are talking about 19th century here when afghanistan politics and internal affairs were dominated by pushtuns unlike today.
but were Abdur Rahman Khan and Amir Habibullah Khan not afghanistani ? they were afghanistani first and later pushtun,tajik,hazarawal. so yes irespective of pushtun,alien,godzila,kingong or who ever sold us out they were in the end Afghanistani.

Are you serious? Pashtun and Afghan were synonymous before Afghanistan got independence in 1919. Afghanistani isn't even a nationality today. It's just Afghan.
