  • Pashtuns manipulation

I don't know how familiar you guys are with social science. However, having even remotely knowledge in sociology, one would clearly see classic manipulation used to control Pashtuns.

    Labeling theory
is the theory of how the self-identity and behavior of individuals may be determined or influenced by the terms used to describe or classify them.

Labeling theory holds that deviance is not inherent to an act, but instead focuses on the tendency of majorities to negatively label minorities or those seen as deviant from standard cultural norms.

Sounds familiar? The stupid Pathan stereotype. Honor obsessed village man. The hot headed idiot. The criminal mafia dude. The uneducated rural folks...

Have you guys ever wondered why whenever there is problems with India. The Pashtuns start demonstrate and shout threats to India... A pakol, AK 47 and vulgar language, and all of sudden we got the whole ''pathan set''. Immediately a camera is set and Pathans threatening India videos are surfacing the net.

Historically the next door desi enemy was our own Punjabis, Sindhis ets. When the British came, it was people particular from modern day Pakistan that invaded Pashtun areas. So if we look at it from historical perspective, then Pashtuns should have a ''beef'' with their own country men and not the invisible enemy from far shores.
When partition happened, it was Indic muslims and Indic hindus who were slaughtering each other. So how come we aren't seeing Punjabis making a hat out of themselves and make videos with AK 47 and use vulgar language, threatening India... Why aren't we seeing them go into the streets; shouting and threatening India.

I tell you why. You're being labeled and now you got a stigma, an expectation from your educated elites, Punjabis.
Pashtuns are a self- fulfilling prophecy. Don't mess with us Pakistanis, we got guard dogs. An ethnic group filled with savages. An uneducated aggressive bunch who will charge in and bite you.
A Pathan walks ind, proudly head held high ''its me he is talking about. I am the uneducated savage guard dog, don't mess with me'' A Punjabi pat his head ''yes you're''

This doesn't just happens regarding India. It was exactly the same thing when there were border skirmishes between Afghans and Pakistanis. Weren't there made videos by these Pathans as well. Insulting with vulgar language including women, children. They literally insulted their own flesh and blood, just for the sake of a pat in the head by Punjabis...
Pathan looking at Punjabi ''look how good of a guard dog I am. I even insult Pashtun from the other side of border'' Punjabi pat his head ''yes you're, good boii''

From guard dogs to just dogs.
So you think this is just an external thing; no, this is internal as well. Weren't the tribal people of north Waziristan, Taliban and all those a top notch guard dogs before. Well, look at it now. This what happens to dogs who bite their masters. Humiliated, lively hood destroyed and labeled stray dogs. You guys should have seen how Pakistanis regarded them in Pakistani forums. What language they used to describe them.

A self-fulfilling prophecy is a prediction that directly or indirectly causes itself to become true, by the very terms of the prophecy itself, due to positive feedback between belief and behavior.

The manipulation isn't just to manipulate Pashtuns in Pakistan. This is also something that is widely used to manipulated Afghans.
    - Graveyard of empires
    - Pashtun vs Farsiwan
    - Taliban = Pashtun, ANA = Farsiwan northern alliance
    - Oppressed Pashtuns, ruled by Farsiwans
    - Afghanistan occupied, free your land

All these and many more are frequently used to manipulate Afghans, by Pakistanis.

Are Pashtuns the only one manipulated? far from. There many manipulation tactic that are used to manipulate other ethnic groups in Afghanistan, but those are most likely not by Pakistanis who use them.
    - Pashtun oppressors
    - Persian culture in danger
    - Persian language is stained
    - Pashtuns stealing our history
    - Pashtuns are planning problems among other minorities

These are all something we are made to believe. Rhetoric, meddling, labeling, stigma are all used to manipulate the masses. And unfortunately in modern era, Pashtuns and Afghans have been a prime victims.

I will come in more details regarding Afghanistan in another topic, when I have more time. This topic was primary regarding the manipulation used by Punjabis/Pakistanis what ever they're called nowadays.
Don't quote me or speak to me if you hate Afghanistan, you be ignored.

People with identity crisis will be ignored as well.

Yeah I find it hilarious the excuses Pakistan gives to force Afghanistan to accept the Taliban to have a seat in their countries' government:

      1. Taliban enjoy popular support (false)
      2. Despite popular support they still need us to fund them and pay for their trips to Qatar
      3. Taliban are fighting foreign occupation (they're fighting us too, but that's not the point)
      4. Taliban are YOUR people, they are Afghans too.

I can't count how many times right-wing analysts like Orya Maqbool Jan and Zaid Hamid and even 'educated' retired Generals have said the Taliban are Pukhtoon, hence Afghan hence have a stake in Afghanistan.

Well if that's the case, then the TTP are Wazir/Mehsud, hence from Fata, hence from Pakistan... let's give them a share too! Let's give our own killers a share.

If this kind of nonsense is espoused by think-tank hosts and top-tier Generals then what can one expect of their sanity as a whole. They're sick people.

        Good points.

I do agree that many non Pashtun "leaders" are stirring up ethnic animosity in order to advance their own agendas but I believe you are wrong regardingto what we consider a threat to our culture. Talibanism/Pashtunism is an existencial threat for us. Its a fact. Not a conspiracy.

Labeling, stigma and self-fulfilling prophecy isn't just used to manipulate Pashtuns from Pakistan, but also Pasthuns from Afghanistan.

Lets take a look on ''graveyard of empire''. It have a good ring to it and have for our resent history created an identity. A phrase that described our past struggle to maintain our free spirit and independency, now hijacked by Pakistanis to actually have a grip on Afghanistan and actually make it dependent on Pakistan, or more correctly described by most ''a 5th province''.

Calling Afghanistan a graveyard of empire and feeding our ego to turn into insurgency against our state. Continuing the misery and bloodbath of Afghans, destroying the infrastructure and creating insecurity and power vacuums which get filled by foreign terrorists and drug lords, warlords and other criminals.

Right now, no matter how good the head of state is, he will never be able to significantly remove the corruptions and other internal issues, because insurgency requires to much resources and focus. How can one fix something internally when there is an existential threat by an external force; a foreign backed insurgency, including foreign terrorist filling the power vacuum.

Lets take a look on the economy. How can one improve the economy when every investment is threatened by insurgency. How can one improve economy when families breed winners gets killed in the war. How can one improve economy when infrastructure get destroyed by insurgency. How can one improve the economy when millions in the country becomes refugees due to war. How can one improve the economy when schools gets closed due to war and teachers threatened and killed by insurgency. I can go on and on, but you get my point.

These are caused by the manipulation caused by external backers. At the one hand calling Afghanistan occupied and in the other hand emphasizing that its a graveyard of empire. Remember what Mullah Omar told the Pakistani government ''many governments had changed in Afghanistan, I will protect the history and you protect your government in Pakistan ''
Basically the insurgency isn't there because the government is bad or that the country is occupied, but because of the stigma and labels they have been put in. Back in the days when the insurgency was at it height. A rapport said that 90 percent of the insurgency were Afghan refugees from Pakistan. One can only conclude that the Pakistanis filled their head with ''your country is occupied'' ''free your country'' rhetoric. Many Taliban fighters that get caught by the Afghan forces are told that the Afghan government, soldiers and the people are kafirs. You need to wage war etc. Basically the war in Afghanistan is pure manipulation conducted by Pakistan, a big stigma, a weight that Afghans have to carry, a weight that is used to control a country otherwise uncontrollable. Pakistan knows its the only way they can control the country.

Lets take a look at occupation. How can a country be occupied, if the country can do whatever it wants. Foreign affairs aren't being dictated by foreign forces. The government form isn't dictated by foreign forces. It got it own military and police, any political party can participate, so how can anyone in its right mind call it an occupied country.
Some Pakistanis may say that the government is paid by US. Now tell me, which country is not? this includes Pakistan as well. The US have been paying Pakistan for several decades now. Go look at it yourself and see US foreign aid. Africa, middle east, Asia, Europe none is spared from foreign aid. And don't give me the bull**** regarding the amount, because amount indicates nothing. Israel is one of the biggest aid receiver of US, but one could argue that the US is controlled by Israel...
Some may suddenly jump to conclusion and say that foreign bases equates occupation. Another completely absolute nonsense. Look at foreign bases by the US, Britain, Russia etc. If bases indicates occupation, then the entire world is occupied. Tajikistan have Russian and Indian bases, YES Indian bases. Does it indicate that they're occupied by both... Saudi Arabia, probably have more foreign bases than Afghanistan, shall we consider Saudi occupied... actually the whole 9/11 started because of US bases in Saudi Arabia... and Pakistanis, don't kid yourself, there are US bases in your territory as well.

The fact is that the whole war in Afghanistan is based on manipulation. Insurgency who believes they're fighting for independence, actually fighting to make the country dependent. There is no clear goal and no regards for Afghan lives and the country. Caught in their delusions and manipulated by foreign forces to do their bidding.

Perhaps Pashtuns in Afghanistan haven't been stigmatized and labeled the same way like Pashtuns in Pakistan, but nevertheless they have been manipulated to be controlled the exact same way as their counterpart in Pakistan.

''Pathans, the aggressive, simple, dump, badmash people who will die for Pakistan'' and the ''the freedom fighters, extreme religious Afghans, fighting to free their lands from the clutches of the puppet government''. Two sides of the same coin, used like toilet paper and manipulated into servitude.

Some may ask, how can Pashtuns in Pakistan let their government destroy their ancestral land and their own flesh and blood. Well, its another manipulative rhetoric that is used to gain their support. ''The Afghan government is northern alliance which is controlled by Farsiwans and the Taliban movement is Pashtun struggle to repel these oppressive minorities.''
Basically manipulation that addresses the natural nationalism that reside within every human being, obviously they rather have their own ethnic group having a say in the government. What they don't know that the Afghan government is well represented by Pashtuns, and the Taliban insurgencies main victims are Pashtuns.
Another rhetoric is used. ''The Afghan government is fooled by India and India is using them to harm Pakistan''. A common saying in Pakistan ''India will fight to the last Afghan''. This may sound hilarious to you people, because no matter how you look at it, its completely illogical and plain retarded, but sadly they actually believe this.
The good relation between India and Afghanistan is solely based of the fact that India haven't been intervening in Afghanistan's internal affairs. India's role so far have been solely based on building Afghanistan's infrastructure.
Don't quote me or speak to me if you hate Afghanistan, you be ignored.

People with identity crisis will be ignored as well.

The thread started of with a great analytical piece where a serious social problem is addressed. Then it suddenly got a twist in favor of a shallow incompetent politician. This teaches us all the following: even when we are smart enough to see patterns and make analogies and analyze our circumstances, we may still be prone to fall for the same social ills.
