Burj Khalifa On Indian Republic Day: Dubai Tower Lit In Indian Colours

The world's tallest skyscraper, Burj Khalifa, was lit up in tri-colours - saffron, white and green to mark the 68th Republic Day of India.

"Tonight we celebrate India's 68th Republic Day with a spectacular LED illumination of the Indian National flag on #BurjKhalifa! #India," the official Twitter account of Burj Khalifa tweeted in both English and Arabic languages.

Three times last evening, the musical fountains adjacent to the world's tallest building leapt to the strains of Jai Ho and Vande Mataram as a mile high electronic flag draped the Burj.

Coming on the eve of India's Republic Day and coinciding with the state visit of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, the combination of lights and music drew rapturous applause from crowds of Indians, Emiratis and other visitors.

The same inspiring sequence will be repeated at 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30 this evening.

At over 2,716.5 feet, Burj Khalifa holds records for the tallest building in the world, tallest free-standing structure in the world, highest number of stories in the world, highest occupied floor in the world, highest outdoor observation deck in the world, elevator with the longest travel distance in the world as well as the tallest service elevator in the world.

This must be a proud moment for Indians

Gulf Arabs are getting closer and closer to Indians, while they ditch Pakistan. UAE also signed a $75 billion investment in India too.

UAE arabs are liberals and not fanatic, they are more business minded, supporting Pakistan would do no good to them in the long run, India is a much better option for them

I really hope oneday a liberal muslim country like UAE (despite all it's faults) can lead out rest of the muslim world from Barbarism and religious fanaticism. Pakis are a lost cause, but I still have a ray of hope in AFghanistan, other arabs countries etc...

That flag sucks because it represents a country full of garbage Indians. Indians think they're repulsive (much to the agreement of many other people). The moment they get a chance to marry a non-Indian, they take it.

Khaliyi Arabs are by far the most corrupt, snob, racist and fascist people I have ever come across. I have spent many years in Emirates and other GCC. They don't even consider Indians human beings. Dont kid yourselves, dalkhors. This people only care about money and power. If you are good looking they respect you (no kidding) but they have no respect for indians at all.

And you people are not racist against Indians you bacha baaz?

Also why would they put the Indian flag on their tallest tower? Clearly they want to establishment much important relationship with India and Indians, obviously they have benefits with having relation with India rather then a country like Pakistan or even Afghanistan for that matter. Indians already run and own Dubai and arabs have clearly realized the importance of this

Afghans are much less racist than Arabs. It's one thing to be racist on an online forum, but even more so to be racist towards someone to their face. Arabs take the cake. They're a stain on their own already sh i t civilisation lol.

Saudi Arabia is not your in laws or your lover that you should expect them to raise your flag without a practical reason behind it. I would be more proud if my country's flag was raised for business related reasons than sentimental ones. It means you have actually achieve something. After all, it's Saudi Arabia we are talking about.

This just proves that your a slave minded moron. Those Gulf Arabs treat indians(also poor muslims from many countries) like slaves and you think this is supposed to make up for it.

Guys, if we're gonna complain, complain about the right things. Cheap labor is not a bad thing. The bad part is holding the passport hostage (ie bondage), or even worse: failing to honor their end of the bargain (ie unpaid wages). Low pay to basically commodity labor is not a bad thing.

Indians over there come in all aspects, yes there many labour Indians, but there are also many millionaire and billionaires Indians living in Dubai and clearly, it depends who you are talking about

Also the raising of flag is clearly political, just to piss Pakistan off. UAE will basically shut off Pakistan now and be much closer to India, their trade will be in multi billions of dollars
