  • Afghan National Police Torture and then Kill Student Reporter in Kandahar

I don't normally post threads like this but I was just having lunch when I came across this and I decided Pots and Kettles should really hesitate to call each other black.

So if I am having a great evening, and thought you all enjoy yours. Specially [sic] the retards who support an foreign-installed, 40 nation backed, ready to collapse in 2 days "government" where a "genius", emphasis on quotes, named AbduRashid Dostum is the Vice President.

Look at him. He was a student and a reporter who went to Kandahar University and accused the police of holding his brother without due process or right.

All that effort he put towards his education, the years he stayed away from his family and the money that his parents must have sacrificed so much for to educate him with has resulted in this.

So for all those of you who support Dostum, Ghani and the "government", and thug drugee-looter Abdurraziq Police Chief Commander, I hope you imagine your own children, brothers and sisters in his spot when you look at his image (especially since this is a verified story with a real link and not facebook friend self confirmatory "news" like some rely on for their thought processes.)

KABUL (Pajhwok): Young writer and journalist Bashir Ahmad Reyan’s body was found in the Spin Boldak district of southern Kandahar province, the Khabaryal Website chief editor said on Tuesday.
A student of the Kandahar University, Reyan wrote more than 20 books and occasionally contributed articles to Khabaryal -- an online media outlet offering latest news, features and interviews.
Shafiq Reyan, the victim’s brother, told Pajhwok Afghan News the upcoming writer had been tortured in different ways, including electric shocks, before he was murdered.
After his final exams, Bashir wanted to go home but went missing on the way. He accused police of killing his brother. Police had previously confirmed having his brother in custody.
Shafiq said police did not give them any information except saying that they had evacuated the body of his brother to hospital.
Earlier, police chief Gen. Abdul Raziq’s secretary had claimed Bashir was in their custody.
Kandahar police and the governor’s office said they had no information about the incident. But a source, who wished to go unnamed, said that Reyan cooperated with Taliban’s website Al Emara -- a charge rejected by his family.
Shafiq said his brother faced severe financial problems and was unable to meet his universityexpenses. If he had links with the Taliban, his financial position would have been stable, he argued.
The last time Bashir came to the university, Shafiq said, he give his brother 15,000 afghanis to buy a laptop. The writer would translate books to meet pay his university fee and other expenses.

          lol, Good one BarakzaiAbdali.

We can't be selective in protesting against injustice whether by the government or the insurgents. The only way is dialogue and compromise where compromises can be made.

Exactly. That's the issue I have with this discussion. Whether it's secondary gain (i.e. Someone's family is involved) or someone's adopted a family political mindset without actually studying this ... or whether it's ethnic attachments - people just lionize their side and demonize the eternal other. The abuses done by their "team" are either A. Somehow as convoluted logic assigned to the other team or B. Justified

And half the time like in that AAN article posted by Khushal proves - the news out of the region is uncertain/mis reported/embellished (by both sides) even when afghans aren't involved ...like the Pat Tillman cover up.

Oh come on, you called me dear, I called you darling. Isn't that flattery enough for 24 hours? Shapur knows me better than that! We've come a long way and if I flatter you too much, well it may sour this blossoming admiration and collegiality!.

This is a completely platonic comradery "Darlin'" as they say in Texas. And rapist? Please! Though I know AbdurRashid Dostum is on your team and you are his number 1 fan, no need to try and impose his unique qualifications onto me.

There are numerous examples of extra judicial killings, there are people locked up for years without trial in prisons. Most of them were arrested because they are Pashtuns from rural areas. I don't see any of these Pashtun nationalists and secular thugs ever questioning governments oppression against fellow countrymen. They only comment when the Taliban kill people. hypocrites.

Only way to get rid of the Taliban is butchering all their members and supporters. Burning to the ground all their military and civilian facilities. ANA is too soft. We need Dostum type/style operations.

Taliban are animals. They must die. And their supporters too. Specially those munafiqs who are happily living in dar al kuffar.

Explain please? Would this encompass elder villagers mad at the ANA for rape and molestation?

“The reason we were here is because we heard the terrible things the Taliban were doing to people, how they were taking away human rights,” said Dan Quinn, a former Special Forces captain who beat up an American-backed militia commander for keeping a boy chained to his bed as a sex slave. “But we were putting people into power who would do things that were worse than the Taliban did — that was something village elders voiced to me.”
So now, would these village elders come under that particular quota of death you prefer above?

Posts like these undermine the complexities of the Taliban situation and just will exacerbate the situation because short of scorched Earth policies; which you have neither the means or capacity to do, this will be next to impossible.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

Pak Army did a "good job". We are at war, buddy. You ahve three options:

                              1) Surrender to enemy.
                              2) Reach a political agreement.
                              3) Obliterate your enemy.

Indeed such a massive operation is near to impossible to carry out specially for a resourceless country like Afghanistan... but at least you should try harder in order to force Taliban to the negotiation table while holding the upper hand (since we still control of all the major cities and most of the country, we still hold the upper hand).

ANA has not been as merciless as the terrorist Pakistani proxy forces.
