Ogling is one thing and molestation (unwanted touch, and pinching) other...not that what happen in NYC can sanction Peshawar Bazaar. The difference is in here people speak about it and try to stop it...while back home it is sweep under carpet in name of honor.Originally posted by BarakzaiAbdali View PostMy friend, I have heard the same from female medical colleagues regarding how we treat them. And the Peshawar Bazaar stories of male aggression are legendary but so too are the NYC construction worker oglings.
I will look into the Swedish data.

I saw the reverse. A shoe shop man caressed an ankle in Quetta and the family went back and beat the guy guns in hand. That is a personally witnessed event.Originally posted by Azmal View PostOgling is one thing and molestation (unwanted touch, and pinching) other...not that what happen in NYC can sanction Peshawar Bazaar. I'm not trying to minimalize what goes on - I'm just saying its not endemic nor it is it an approved part of culture."2 crackheads don't become any better or stronger by sharing the same crack pipe." - Greatest PF quote

Additionally, the full bodied able male over there can barely get justice or get something done through a court system or the media ... more vulnerable members of society are unlikely to be able to fare much better in that sort of situation.Originally posted by Azmal View PostOgling is one thing and molestation (unwanted touch, and pinching) other...not that what happen in NYC can sanction Peshawar Bazaar. This condition will persist for at least another century or two. The collapse of the last independent Muslim regions about 75 years ago means we are just in the beginning of a post empire phase.
These situations and reversals take a long time to undo and the nation state paradigm that was set upon the region and the perpetual warfare and friction is not going to permit what societal development would term "luxury rights" to be achieved before basic service, stability, and lawful structures are implemented."2 crackheads don't become any better or stronger by sharing the same crack pipe." - Greatest PF quote

xOriginally posted by DaZahroJaam. View PostSay green ogre,
LOL. Attempting to compensate for the earlier "Dear"?
how much time have you spent in Quetta or Afghanistan??
A significant portion of my life. Enough to know that all your beliefs are pretty terrible and pretty out of touch with any modicum of ground level realities.
Not as an outsider but as someone who lived there and blended amongst the people as part of the society??
I have blended in well to the point where elders felt that when I spoke, I reminded them of bygone times, darlin. The only thing that sets me apart is that when I speak I use older dialect words from the 60s and 70s as opposed to the recent slang. And, I smile a lot
What is really obvious from today's conversation though, which even surprised me, was that I have heard about the former Marxist leaning Afghans but I've only met a few of them like you. They seem to have a better representation n Europe. You're the first that Ive encountered that has serious Stalinist tendencies. It really is rather unfortunate that you assume people complaining about government sanctioned forces raping their daughters by literally breaking the hinges of doors and chaining boys to a bed should be set on fire.
I mean you really need to talk out your problems and splitting psychology:
Splitting (psychology - Wikipedia).
We Afghans are passionate people, but most of the time the denial accompanies the splitting (i.e. a refusal to acknowledge an incident took place, a brushing under the rug). My concern with you is that you have progressed to the next stage which is something even more of a set back for our people: Its continued splitting plus a wish to inflict violence and rage on those that disagree even if they are bystanders. Basically, you've reached a point where you're willing to pre judge someone you have never met simply because they spoke out against the side or the team you like.
My concern for you is that you are going to have a pretty troubling existence if you view things in this stark way and don't seek out help.

It was complex. When Trump used America First as the slogan, I knew the history of the terminology. I had the chance to meet Lindbergh's biographer when I was up in the Northeast and felt that Lindbergh was thinking about what was best for his people even if he was product of his times.Originally posted by Azmal View PostI was not interested in election outcome---did not even bother to vote... but with Michael Flynn and mad dog mattis appointments I'm worried...I would think troops will be redeployed in Afghanistan.
What about you?
I have some major issues with Hillary in that I think she was dramatically corrupt and her manipulation of the tax code was simply going to increase the money that the fed already steals from its people to ship abroad in these crazy ventures.
I think Flynn is a bit concerning and has a loud mouth... but Mattis has been someone I have followed for some time and I think he was a good choice for defense from an American perspective.
The issue is that if the Sec of State is any of the current candidates they may force Mad Dog's hand. Reading Mattis's published work, I think his stance has been: Don't get involved in unnecessary conflicts - but if you have to make sure you win and that you win quickly.
All the current candidates: Bolton, Romney, Guiliani are hacks and war mongers.
One hopes that a President Trump practices along the lines of a Pat Buchanon and decides to abandon nation building projects and interventionalism... but I am not holding my breath.
Unfortunately for patients, but fortunately for doctors, Trump is going to likely remove the ACA and bundled payments. Since I prefer to work in a cost controlled system, on an ethical level I am not too thrilled with that but on a personal level it benefits me financially.

A troubling exestence suits me pretty well. Why don't you get back to your fantasies of dustom and his tendency to rape or something. Better off, instead of passing on your unwanted diagnosis here and there, you can just sit somewhere and write a novel about it. You have been going on and on about it for the last 18 hours.

Ohhh really, so now Dostum is defensible? Woooooww, you are jumping into Stalin territory. And you have been going on and on about getting me to go on and on. Admit it, you called me Dear and not yourself.

Get lost. This is no longer a discussion or argument about the title of the thread but an exchange of personal jabs and I don't have the time or patience for it. You can day dream about dostum and his lifestyle on your own time rather than wasting mine.
I should seriously stop drinking coffee.

I thought basic needs are said to motivate people when they are unmet? Also, the need to fulfil such needs will become stronger the longer the duration they are denied. For example, the longer a person goes without food the more hungry they will become...so why are people not changing or not even willing to change? I think violence against woman has more to do with ...high wife prices, constant airing of western life style—TV, Facebook, internet—including free 24/7 hardcore porn satellite tv channel. Most of our younger guys are sexually frustrated..which leads to sexual violence.Originally posted by BarakzaiAbdali View PostAdditionally, the full bodied able male over there can barely get justice or get something done through a court system or the media ... more vulnerable members of society are unlikely to be able to fare much better in that sort of situation.

I would venture to say that its not about jabs its that you are unable to prove a single point.
1. You couldn't do much about the embarrassment of this hypocrisy of yours (Thank goodness Shapur pointed out the moral conundrum for you since you are apparently psychiatrically blind to it):
2. You also back a government full of looters, proven rapists, and thugs and have now openly said without proof or basis that elders that complain about rape of little boys or their daughters deserve to be set on fire.
You can day dream about dostum and his lifestyle on your own time rather than wasting mine.
No no my dear... lol, its more about you attempting to be ambivalent to his crimes and supporting him, propping him up, rationalizing his role, and then pretty much agreeing with his approach to things (refer to point 2 above)
I should seriously stop drinking coffee.
I cannot fault you for that. Its a great drink when French pressed. I bet your coffee is horrible and smells like dog.

Depends, I don't think we make enough Latin American historical comparisons here at PF. We are very very fixated on our own struggles or struggles in the Muslim world but we ignore other histories like that of Mandela's and that of places like Nicaragua, Guatemala, and numerous other places that the Western media focused on for similar rape and injustice statistics while at the same time debasing those nations with installed governance or fomenting local friction
Also, the need to fulfil such needs will become stronger the longer the duration they are denied.
Agree
For example, the longer a person goes without food the more hungry they will become...so why are people not changing or not even willing to change?
I believe we are at a very early phase in the post collapse of Eastern leadership/autonomy era. As when the Roman empire collapse and there were dark times in Europe and when Egypt went through her Doldrums - its not hard to expect constantly war torn regions and nation states designed to fail to continue to, well... fail.
I think violence against woman has more to do with ...high wife prices, constant airing of western life style—TV, Facebook, internet—including free 24/7 hardcore porn satellite tv channel. Most of our younger guys are sexually frustrated..which leads to sexual violence.
Well, I think I tend to agree that phenomena works on both sides of the ocean. You go to a Grocery store, you open up CNN.com, you drive along and see a billboard, even here I think some of the child pornography and other issues are due to the fact that human sexuality requires a release spigot. These oddballs find their way to one that ends up having devastating consequences (prostitution via the net etc). And yes, the collision of Eastern and Western culture over there probably has caused some of this to crop up but also because the traditional view of what is "normal" is lost on people.
Here, in the 1930s, it wasn't usual for a women to spend time alone with a man either. Women who did that were seen as loose with morals. As women entered more environments they encountered male aggression until that new role potentially normalized. In many spheres of life that has still not happened.
You have to remember that though in some village environs, women would work the fields and contribute to the agro economy in our regions, it was exceedingly rare for them to be very involved in the public sphere.
The ogling, groping is happening because Western role and motifs are happening against the back drop of very very very conservative Eastern culture.
A tincture of time or nativism prevailing are sometimes the only solutions. That or some radical iron fist and we see how well that went for the Marxists.

A government can be held accountable for its crimes. You know where to find them and how to approach them. Your forefathers commit crimes and steal from people randomly before running back to their caves and hiding through out the day and until the night when they can come out like the bunch of thriving criminals that they are.
Yeah, Shapur replied to your thread. I bet the excitement of that single reply in your stupid thread won't let you sleep for thin next three weeks. That is how pathetic your existence is.
As for the coffee, gee, I wouldn't know. I don't go around, smelling dogs. You seems to be an expert though.
