Ofcourse I am not talking about Pakistani Pashtuns . My posts are usually reserved for Afghan citizens and their crazy fairytales that they like to make up vis-a-vis Pakistan . Yes your right since 1960 something the official or mainstream definition of the word afghan means citizen of Afghanistan, I think the confusion of the word or 'ownership' so to speak is delicate topic since it would be a word that defines Pashtuns (by majority of well known writers, news outlets and historians etc) this would obviously make other ethnicities uncomfortable - one option is refuse to call yourself Afghan because it means land of Pashtuns OR unite with other ethnicities and unite under the banner of nationalism and change the definition of the word (which is what has happened) .. Saying that though from what I've come accross and read; Prior to 60 years ago before modern terminology in politics the root of the word was Infact used to refer to an ethnicity rather than citizenship, this is the reason why so many people in Pakistan that say they are nationally Pakistani but ethnically Afghan exist.. Why don't you get Tajiks from Takijistan say they are afghan? Why not Uzbeks from Uzbekistan?? It's because they have no historical attachment to the word whereas it has always been referred to as part of the motherland 'watan' For Pashtuns.. The historical and ancient wording has been different to what it is now (after 60's). Pashtuns should respect you calling yourself an Afghan because the only other alternative would be Khorasan or even somethig new.. This would make you divided and everyone weak. On the flip side Non-Pashtuns Afghan citizens should also respect and embrace the historical roots of the title.

In Herat we don't use the term "Pashtun" but rather "Awghon". So we acknowledge the origin of the word. I know Afghan means Pashtun. I know many Pashtun nationalists claim they are the native people of land because of it (which is BS Tajiks have been living in this land much longer than Pashtuns). I know that the best thing would be to change the name of the country... but more nationalism would mean more fight and war. Thats the last thing we need right now.

Afghanistan needs education, unity, progress, brotherhood,.. we don't need more nationalism and religious fanaticism.

I must point out that I would happily say bye to "unity" and "brotherhood" if Taliban take over. In that scenario partition would be the less bad option.. but that won't happen. any time soon

American F-16s have been used, not any JF-17 , the china-maal. And those F-16 bombs were not dropping on "militant hideouts" but on houses of civilians, mosques, markets etc

India never used a single Jet or gunship helicopter or Tank in curbing insurgency in Kashmir..... which speaks volumes about bravery and professionalism of Indian army and cowardice and beghairati of Pakistani army.
