  • Peshawar: Pashtun leader Asfandyar Wali Khan proudly declares to be an Afghan

I was Afghan, I am Afghan and I will be Afghan, says Asfandyar Wali Khan

PESHAWAR: A prominent Pashtun leader and Pakistani politician Asfandyar Wali Khan has proudly declared he is an Afghan as he warned against the harassment of Afghan refugees in the country.
In his address during a rally in Swabi, Asfandyar Wali Khan criticized the Interior Ministry for ordering steps that led to harassment of the Afghan refugees.

He proudly declared that he was of Afghan origin and was still an Afghan as mentioned in the revenue record. He addressed, “I was Afghan, I am Afghan and I will be Afghan.”

In other parts of his speech, Asfandyar Wali Khan slammed the Pakistani authorities for their failure to act against the Afghan militants based in the country.

Noting the recent killing of a prominent Pakistani militant in Afghanistan who was involved in Peshawar’s Army Public School attack, Asfandyar Wali said the authorities in Pakistani have not even killed a single Taliban leader nor they have arrested any of them.

“But the Pakistani authorities have not killed or arrested a single leader of the Afghan Taliban on its soil or handed him over to the Afghan government,” he was quoted as saying in a report by The News International newspaper.
Asfandyar Khan further added “If there is disturbance in Afghanistan, Pakistan would also be in turmoil. Peace and progress in the two countries are linked. If anyone has any doubt, he should read history.”

He also warned that not only Pakistan, but also the entire region would witness trouble and instability if there was a war in Afghanistan.

Insisting on repatriation of Afghan refugees with dignity, Asfandyar Wali Khan said “It is surprising that yesterday they were called the mujahedeen, but today they are forced to go back to Afghanistan.”

For any Pakistani nationalist this is like a stab through the heart, the "loyalty" of Pashtuns to Pakistan is what has allowed there army to become so strong. The Baloch never join the army and the Punjabis and Sindhis are skinny and black. This leaves only the Pashtuns who form the backbone of the army.

This is one of the reasons why Pakistanis are so desperate for increased mixing to occur, many Punjabis offer there daughters to Pashtun men in the hopes that there progeny will be lighter skinned and also so that Pashtuns will remain loyal. It's a good deal imo, more bitches = increased loyalty.

Majority of Punjabis/Mohajirs and their "Gul Khans" are insisting that Pashtun of Pakistan has nothing to do with word Afghan and any one calling himself Afghan should pack his bags and migrate to Afghanistan.....Ironically "A" or "Alif" in Pakistan name stands for 'Afghania'. Akhraots are giving up on many things of their identity on the whims and wishes of Attock-kay-uss-Pakistanis.......Punjabi wished and insisted on word Pathan/Pathani instead of proper word Pashtun, and Akhroat/Gul Khan accepted it......now Punjabi is demanding that Akhroat should cut his ties with his historic Afghan identity, the latter has also accepted it......

Pashtun can be easily fooled , brainwashed and misguided......

In reality Pashtuns should have never been part of a desi country like Pakistan, I mean how in the world would indics and iranids could live together? when no muslim even of the same race cant live together. Even if Muslims of India wanted a separate state, they should have stopped the at the Punjab / KPK border, the British made pashtuns areas part of British and this was their huge mistake

14.4 % pashtun or people from KP or pashto speaker? only karigar who pass themselves as pashtun join army, pashtun with tribal lineage have no desire to join army as a foot soldier unless there are serious financial issue,or a full time burden on family. how much core commander are pashtun?
