From Baghlan all the way to border of Turkmenistan, there are numerous pockets of Pashtun settlements in Afghanistan. These Pashtuns occupy some districts and regions in predominantly Tajik, Uzbek en Aymaq areas.
Since the start of the National Unity Government of Ashraf Ghani and Abdullah, Pashtuns have turned into targets of armed forces dominated by former Northern alliance commanders.
Men are being summarily executed, imprisoned or tortured. Their possessions are taken from them and they are regularly stopped and harassed. Some of them have lost their homes and properties. Even women and children are targeted by the armed forces.
This ongoing violence is forcing Pashtuns to either leave their homes or join the Taliban to take revenge and fight back.
The situation is further increasing instability and internal hostilities among people. The sitting government isn't doing anything to stop this and the media is therefore uninterested in reporting it.
What could be the reason for this?
