The mission of the United States and its international partners in Afghanistan is to train, advice and assist Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF). These forces provide effective security across the country and ensure that Afghanistan would never again be a safe haven for terrorists and insurgents. In June 2016 U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Olson addressing the Atlantic Council announced that the US plans to provide USD 1bn a year in support for the ANDSF from 2018 through 2020.
Afghan National Security Forces assumed full responsibility of their country’s security in the beginning of 2015 and have proven to be fierce fighters against the terrorists and insurgents. With the help and partnership of the United States and its international partners Afghanistan will be able to lead the way for a secure and brighter future.
How do you evaluate the progress of Afghan National Defense and Security Forces since they assumed full security responsibility of their country?
