The elite Mohajirs were Urdu speakers, like Liaquat Ali Khan from Haryana. However most Mohajirs were Punjabis, Gujaratis, Maharashtrian, Bengali etc. The reason why most of them probably spoke Urdu (like Abdul Sattar Edhi's family) was because Urdu was considered the language of the Muslim elite in India at the time. Even Bacha Khan did speeches in Urdu when addressing Indians as a whole. Iqbal preferred Urdu even though he was Punjabi himself.
So yeah, not all Mohajirs are native Urdu speakers but they have all more or less assimilated Urdu into their identity due to the cultural nature of the Muslim league.

you keep exposing yourself, east panzabis are not counted and were never counted as mahajirs. All others are mahajirs and don't belong to Pakistan if not for good will of native people.Originally posted by Porus View PostThe elite Mohajirs were Urdu speakers, like Liaquat Ali Khan from Haryana.
