  • Gloating in tribal primitive-ism

Being tribal and thinking as a tribal means the group has not yet developed the sophistication to build a state and cannot build and run complex institutions, produce literature and artifacts of high aesthetic and artistic value, etc. In such society, privileges and status are claimed on the basis of tribal entitlement. The members cannot live in an ordered society and can't adjust to urban culture.

In a civilized society, claim to status and privileges is based on one's worth as a skilled professional, adherence to law, contribution to some aspect of societal management, e.g., public service, legislation, administrative services, system building and running, etc.

The highest level of civilization is that where are you are entirely judged by what you bring to the intellectual asset and cultural heritage of the society and where "merit" instead of entitlement is the criterion that decides your status -where war, aggression, and conflict is avoided or fought for just causes and fought in a controlled humane manner.

Why do people then gloat in their tribalism?

Tribes and castes are a very redundant thing. This is something fairly limited to Afghanistan, Pakistan and to some extent India and Bangladesh.

An interesting thing that I found out about Iranians is that there is no such thing as a 'tribe' in Iran. Persians no longer have 'tribes'. They might have last names indicating which city they're from, but the concept of 'tribe' has diminished in their tradition.

That's the same thing we have to strive for. Race, caste, and ethnicity is a personal thing and it doesn't count for ****. A Sadozai is no better than a Mehsud, a Jatt is no more superior than an Awan. We live in the 21st century, let's move on.

"Iran's Revolutionary Guards killed five members of a Kurdish separatist group involved."

There are active separaitst movement in Iran and Pakistan...the only reason Iranians are less tribal is due religion---thanks to Safavid Turks. Arabs have a saying...every Shia in is a potential Iran spy.

Lol what's your point? I'm talking about Persians, not Kurdish nationalists.

While I agree with the overall spirit of what you posted; I find it hard to believe that your motives are sincere.

One of the first posts you made here upon your return was to refer to Samandri as Hindkowan, while you are actually of similar origins yourself

At times it seems you only pull this "Enlightened Thinking" antic when your ethnic rhetoric comes back against you.......That's incredibly disingenuous.

I actually don't buy into all these ethnic and cultural ideologues but I use it on you because I see you use it on others; I do it to teach you a lesson that just as you try and ridiculing people; we know about your background that we can refer to it anytime to remind you....

if your motives are sincere; then I can agree with you, but I will say it starts with YOU first, you need to change your attitude and how you look at others, the words you speak. Otherwise whatever you just wrote is just a self-consoling stream of rhetoric ....which you aren't fully convinced of.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."
