Yes they do call it like that, those little fuc.kes even get engry if you say do you speak farsi to them in Afghanistan, they will replay in irritated tone I speak Dari, like it something diffrent or special than farsi. And Yes I agree too that Dari and Farsi is the same. But due to their inferiority complex they always try to make themself look special and diffrent. Becuase Farsi and Persian in afghanistan is a label for shia, who are now seen as not even proper muslims.

Tajiks always called their language "Farsi". "Dari" is term imposed on us by the Pashtun rulers for political reasons. We still call ourselves "Farsizabon". Even Pashtuns call us "Parsibaan" or "Parsiwaan".Originally posted by Iblis_Efreetzai View PostBy the way Tajiks did not "name" their language Dari. Dari comes from Darbar, which was an official court dialect of Farsi, used by Central Asian principalities and kingdoms. It's like when Pashtuns call their dialects "Kandari" or "Paktiawal" or "Khostwal" . Sheeesh
There is no difference between Persian and Dari. Just few loanwords ("Dari" got less Arabic, Turkish and Kurdhis words and more Bactrian, Soghdian and even few Pashto words) and also different accents. But at the end of the day its the same language."For thirty years, I endured much pain and strife,
I awaken the Ajam by this Persian [language]. "

I only don't see much difference between the two. There are some more Mongol looking Iranians as well.Originally posted by Aryana View PostI couldn't find pictures of men, so these are just children/youth
This is the average Tajik, only a bit less Mongoloid:
This is the average Iranian:

LOL I would believe this girl is Pashtun; but definitely not the "AVERAGE" Pashtun; most Pashtuns don't have colored eyes and there are Iranians who look JUST like that. In fact there are Punjabis who look like that too and from Tajiks of Tajikistan..and even some Turkic Uygur women
In fact this Uyghur lady:

could be a grown up Auntie of that girl; she could be Shaperai Naghma's sister.
cherry picked pictures are not random samples. these would not tell us anything about the average physical similarities or differences of the region.Yeah, you're right. They're exactly the same! (

I think the most honest approach would be to have look at the elected representatives of each Pashtun district. Lets have look at the faces of MNAs of FATA, who are reputed to be purest Pashtuns among Pakistani ones by people of Afghanistan. Out of ten, only one Afridi MNA has green eyes, and one Wazir MNA seem to have hazel eyes.Originally posted by Iblis_Efreetzai View PostI only don't see much difference between the two. Of course in your mind they are the same, that is to be expected from a person like you.Originally posted by Iblis_Efreetzai View PostI only don't see much difference between the two. There are some more Mongol looking Iranians as well.

Also, a lot of Pashtuns have coloured eyes. Blonde hair might not be as prevalent but coloured eyes (blue or green) is very common amongst Pashtuns."If a lion comes and takes your share, go get it back from the mouth of the lion"

I never said they look the same, just not that much different, If you take a random sample of Pashtuns you can find this same degree of variance.Originally posted by Aryana View PostOf course in your mind they are the same, that is to be expected from a person like you.

Only people not from Afghanistan think Colored eyes is the "average" Pashtun. They base their understanding on internet pictures not living and walking around Pashtuns. Yes lots of Pashtuns have colored eyes, but definitely not the average.

Lol, R1a is found in more frequency in South Asia rather than Afghanistan. Bengalis have r1a upto 72% way more than PashtunsOriginally posted by Aryana View PostThe J haplogroup is Semitic. Bengali Brahmins have a lot of R1a because they exclusively marry only people whom they consider "pure Aryans".
No need to get so emotional, we all know that you're insecure, calling me retarded and an idiot from behind a screen. You think you're a warrior now eh?

God bless Bush, Obama, USA, NATO, USSR, Osama, Taliban, Ahmed Shah Massoud, British, ISI, Pakistan, Northern Alliance and whoever else kills Afghans everyday.

Don't know where you're getting your r1a distribution maps from, but it's a fact it's very prevalent amongst Pashtuns. Only the high caste Hindus have r1a because of selective breeding. They consciously only marry other high caste "Aryans".Originally posted by Taghwar View PostLol, R1a is found in more frequency in South Asia rather than Afghanistan. Furthermore
R1a1 is found at 63% in the Khatris of Punjab (Underhill et al, 2009), which is more than some studies put the Pashtuns at.
