• Iran offers Pakistan to join Chabahar port deal

ISLAMABAD: A day after Pakistan said it was considering linking Gwadar with Chabahar harbour, Iran said the former could join the agreement.

On Monday, India, Iran and Afghanistan signed a three-way transit accord as New Delhi and Tehran inked an agreement worth $500 million to develop the Chabahar port.

“[The] Chabahar agreement is not limited to three countries. Doors are always open for Pakistan and other regional nations to join the deal,” said Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Mehdi Honardost.

The envoy was delivering a keynote address on Pakistan-Iran relations at the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI).

Gwadar, Chabahar to be made ‘sister port cities’

The envoy said there was no rivalry between Chahbahar port of Iran and Gwadar port of Pakistan. “In fact, both these ports complement each other,” he insisted.

Honardost went on to say that Pakistan and China were offered to join the Chahbahar port development deal before India. However, both Pakistan and China did not show any interest, he added.

Regional cooperation, he said, was the only solution to solve the problems and remove impediments among the neighbours.

On Thursday, Prime Minister’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said Pakistan was considering to link the two ports and added that Pakistan was also constructing a road to Chabahar.

Once completed, the port will provide India access to Afghanistan and Central Asia bypassing Pakistan.

Iranian president calls for ‘sanction-free’ ties with Pakistan

India is believed to be increasingly upset over the development of Gwadar port by China under CPEC with independent observers suggesting Chabahar could come out as a rival in future.

Afghan Taliban

Meanwhile, reiterating the country’s stance on Afghan chief Mullah Mansour’s death, the ambassador said Iran considered Taliban as its enemy and could not allow them to visit the country.

The US media had reported American intelligence agencies tracked down Mullah Mansour when he was visiting Iran to meet his family.

The Iranian envoy also said his country would not allow its soil to be used against Pakistan in any way.

Honardoost stressed terrorism was an international phenomenon and both Iran and Pakistan were victims of terror and drug trafficking.

And this mark the isolation of Pakistan.A country of 200 Million dollars poised to become one of the largest economy few decades from now will become a Pariah state as per our dear Firdousi

Anyway yet another situation of Pakistan isolation by Obama administration

WASHINGTON: The US Senate Armed Services Committee has approved a proposal to set up a new fund to reimburse Pakistan for its efforts in the war against terror. The new fund also delinks the country from Afghanistan.

The committee’s chairman, Sena*tor John McCain, introduced the bill, which sets aside up to $800 million for reimbursing Pakistan and the proposal is included in the Senate version of the National Defence Auth*o*risation Act, 2017, passed on May 18

Iran did not have India on its mind initially, when it came to developing the strategic Chabahar port. The Islamic country had approached Pakistan and China first and only when they refused, it approached India, according to the Iranian envoy to Pakistan.

This is indeed an unique opportunity for you guys to join all your neighbors and create a better future for ourselves and your children. Lets work hand by hand, shoulder by to create a better and brighter future for all of us.

Unfortunately I am kinda pessimistic. This won't happen. Ghwadar is naval port for China. China needs it badly in order to have a direct access to the Arabian Sea. So they don't want Indians to be part of it.

Pakistan is being systematically isolated. If you can't see or you don't want to, its a big problem. There is an obvious harsher approach by the world powers as well as your neighbors toward your support to terrorist movements all over the region. You need to leave behind the "warmonger mentality" and start focusing more on economy. Just like India is doing. India is centuries ahead of you guys basically because they have moved on. Even my country, Afghanistan, despite being weaker is involved in several projects that will help us to become stronger and less dependent on you.

Mark my words, buddy. Sanctions are coming all over you.

Nice gesture but Pakistan already turned it down months ago. Iran want China because India cannot invest more then few million dollars compared to $200 billion China will invest in Pakistan.

Threat of sanctions on Iran also doesn't help perceptions.

Buddy the only reason sanctions were placed on Pak was because of nuclear weapons. Now world have accepted Pakistan as nuclear power right after 9/11. For which every Pakistani thank Afghanistan.

Sorry no offence but Chabahar is a very small project and has nothing in Pakistan for it otherwise we would have explored the opportunity when it was offered to us before India or even Afghanistan.

It will instead divert our attention from Gwadar.

We will Pump 17 Billion dollars into our infrastructure this year alone from our own budget and not just china but many other countries are ready to invest in Pakistan because of the faster than expected recovery of Pakistan economy.

Already told you,Work only on Economy and everyone will fall in line for you and we just need a decade of work on our economy e.g India.

Although i am not happy for 4.7% growth rate this year but at least it is in Positive trajectory and majority of the macroeconomic indicators are showing positive progress.

2-3 years from now,we can clock 7% and you need to see Bangladesh as example to what 7% growth can do to your country.

Russia Pakistan relations are improving

We recently recieved MI 17.I am told that we have also recieved MI 35 but it is not in the news yet and still hard for me to believe a delivery this fast.We are offered a upgraded engine for JFT and Small to medium Range SAM.

Recently we signed a 2 Billion dollars LNG Deal with Russia.
Russian Armed forces officials visited Pakistan and we recently also had military drill.

Putin didn't visited Pakistan because the 2 Billion dollars deal still didn't had much importance/substance as per the russian officials. He will visit in future.

Buddy, this issue has been already discussed so there is no need to go over once again. However I am going to repeat it once again:

Chabahar will be used by Central Asian countries, Afghanistan, Iran, India and may be even by Azerbaijan and Iraq to trade. India will gain access to those countries bypassing Pakistan. We Afghans and CA will do the same thing. Its a win-win.

Gwadar will be built by China and for China to have access to the Arabian Sea. No one else will use it. India, Afghanistan, Iran,.. no one. Only India. In return you will have to pay back the loan (its hilarious how you Pakistanis want to portray this project as some sort of "charity project" by China. Truth is its a loan. You will pay for a Chinese project).

India is far ahead of Pakistan. Your policy is too Indian-centric. While India is a vibrant democracy already competing with world powers Pakistan is a failed state which all economy is limited to an economic corridor. I am sorry, bro, but can not win this game.

Thats pure wishful thinking. No one will even dare to upset a growing super power like India for the sake of friendship with a country like Pakistani. No offense, wrora, but India offers natural resources, technology, science, a growing middle class,.. its the fastest growing economy in the world (Indian economy is like ten times bigger than Pakistans).. what can you Pakistanis offer to the world? Mangoes? Terrorists?

You see your country is only used by foreign powers in order to make business: war business. Since Pakistan is the only place in the world where an army got a country, all your trade with the rest of the world will be reduced to arms and weapons. You have nothing else to offer to the world. India does.

Pakistan is a terrorist state. The world is aware of this. Now that you are not needed anymore and that the nuclear issue with Iran is solved, the international community will deal with you.

wait and see. The waves are coming...

Russia betrayed india the moment they issued NOC to RD-93 in early 2000's.

Now we not only have increasing economic and defence relations with Russia but we had regular visits of Russian armed forces and military drills.

Because we share Similar interest in this region especially Afghanistan.

Dude, what the hell are you talking about? Do you realize Russia is about to sell S-400 to India? That would be the last nail on your coffin. Russia is going to have three major military drills with India this year:
