  • Why do Pakistanis and Indians worship light skin?

last thread I made was titled similarly but got deleted before I could read the replies. It's a topic that has interested me since I came in contact with many Indians and Indic peoples.

I notice Indians and Indic Pakistani are extremely obsessed with skin color, speficially light skin color.
some things to know about Indians and Indics (East Pakistanis):

    - India has a caste system, lightest people on top while darkest on bottom (Bollywood is a good example).
    - British 400 years lasting conquest and rule of India.

In Afghanistan, there is no such thing in the culture, anywhere in the country. light skin or black skin, in Afghanistan no one gives a fuss:

I think this is a main reason why Indians and Indic Pakistanis are so obsessed with and worship Afghans, because Afghans are so much lighter than Indians and Indic Pakistanis, and light years more handsome and masculine.

No disrespect meant to Indians and Indic Pakistanis by this, but I would like to know why they suffer so much from selfhatred.

It's an interesting topic. (Don't want this thread to be deleted again, so please behave according to forum guidlines).

I am a Punjabi and both of my bearded grandfathers, maternal and paternal were more light-skinned than the pictures you have posted. I don't understand the point that you want to make. In the villages of Punjab, light skinned people are usually made fun of. It seems like you have some sort of inferiority complex that you keep bringing this up. Let's be honest, I've seen Afghans that look like Indians. My grandfathers were Punjabis and any Pashtun that ever saw them would speak to them in Pashto, mistaking their identity.

So what is the purpose of your thread? Are you here just to cause ethnic fighting?

This phenomenon is not restricted to Desis. Even among Pashtuns/Tajiks etc people generally prefer light skin for females. We often hear people say "sra aw speena" pink and light complexion or "sorkh o safid" in Farsi. They are almost always used in a positive manner meaning people do prefer such traits.
As for males, in most cultures wealth, social status, physique, is far more important for males.

These nepali looking farsi Afghans try to look down on Pashtuns and Pakistanis, thinking that they will be associated with Iranians. It's too bad that most of them look like Changez Khan's eunuchs. They project their inferiority complexes upon Pakistanis, when they themselves would die to look like an Iranian.

They try to imitate the Iranian farsis because they speak a similar language. They try to dance like them, speak in a homosexual accent like them, and try to dress in tight blue jeans with a t-shirt like them. They even prey on young boys like the Iranians are proud of doing. A lot of them try to emigrate to Iran, but once they realize that the Iranians have them work as illegal construction workers eating toilet dirt, reality hits home.

It's truly sad, that these Afghans look down upon themselves for a slight recognition from an Iranian. I feel sorry for them and their complex. These farsi afghans think they are white, when the fact of the matter is that their farsi masters are only a few shades lighter than them and consider them as human waste disposal. Euros and whites think of all brown people as the same, but it seems like Iranians want to try to prove that they are white, and Afghan farsi want to try and prove that they Iranian.

What a pathetic and sad cycle of inferiority complex. It brings shame to my heart that these Afghan farsis hate themselves so much, and have a need to constantly try to prove themselves to the Iranians.

I hope they get better one day.

This is phenomenon through out the world, including Afghanistan as well. One could call it a human instinct. When a majority of the people are a certain color. Let say everyone have brown eyes, then suddenly one person got green eyes. The person with green eyes will be seen as special and more attractive. This doesn't apply just for the eye color, but also for skin color. Also not only for darker people, but light skinned people as well. Believe it or not, but there is a reason why white people see tanned people as more attractive. The same reason why dark skinned people see white skinned as more attractive.
Attractiveness is all about standing out. And having lighter skin in an area where the majority are dark skinned, will make the light skinned person stand out and look more attractive. The same concept apply the other way around.

So to answer your question in short, it is all about standing out and look special.
Don't quote me or speak to me if you hate Afghanistan, you be ignored.

People with identity crisis will be ignored as well.

In Pakiland racial inferiority complex is very different from other black countries because it is not just their dark skin that punjabis are ashamed of but their race and ancestral roots too.

Skin whitening and preference for light complexions is known in many parts of the World but disowning one's own ancestors and telling lies about being descendants of foreigners is a phenomenon unique to Pakiland and India, Panjab in particular.

This is because not only are punjabs seen as ugly looking in the eyes of every invader that has conquered and ruled them over the past 3000 years but pakis are the descendants of low caste Hindus for which they feel deeply embarrassed and humiliated by.

Skin whitening among pakis is only one part of the deep rooted and multi layered racial inferiority complex of punjabis.

In Afghanistan ethnicity and ethnic features play an important role. This phenomenon is not limited to Pakistan. We Heratis use to call Pakistanis "sia kharhai dalkhor". Hazaras are known as "chineyi mushkhor",.. and so on. Green and blue eyes are celebrated. In my family most of my uncles and cousins got light skins and eyes and they tend to be blond and redbearded. And most of the people like their features.

There is an obvious obsession in Pakistan and India when it comes to light skins: after centuries of invasions by the hand of "lighter" people, they have developed some sort of devotion toward light skin. Its not just inferiority complex. Its an outcome of centuries of human interrelation between lighter and darker human beings, between masters and servants.

Maybe that's why Persian-Nationalists often resent Arabs because Arabs tended to be darker than Persians; so they feel the Arabs had no right to conquer them since they weren't fair and that God played a cruel joke by letting darker skinned people get the upper hand.

By the way, I'm only being half-serious here.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

I have Punjabi friends, and my critique of them is mostly due to my consideration that they are artificial and fake friends. However, this is my opinion of most humanity including the few Pashtuns here (where I live).

Of my Punjabi friends, I have never felt they have this issue since their thoughts are mostly worldly dominated by career plans and money.

I have found this issue of preference for light skin and the supposed "educational" discussion about it to be of mostly ignorant people.

I am not blonde nor fair skinned. Most of my family is. But I am not.

Have you ever been to Greece? Most of Greek people are pretty dark people more than any other Mediterranean people such as Italians or Spanish people. Xenophon described the Aethiopians (Nubians) as black and the Persian troops as white compared to the sun-tanned skin of Greek troops (Xenophanes of Colophon: Fragments, Xenophanes, J. H. Lesher, University of Toronto Press, 2001 p. 90).

BTW blue eyes originated in what is now northern Afghanistan:

Blue eye colour most likely originated from the near east area or northwest part of the Black Sea region, where the great agriculture migration to the northern part of Europe took place in the Neolithic periods about six–10,000 years ago.
“That is my best guess,” he said. “It could be the northern part of Afghanistan.”

Are you blind? I have been to Greece and they are european looking and lighter then North west Iranians by some distance. Why you are using thousands of years old sources. Who need them when we can see people how they look with our own eyes. Iranians are number 1 in nose jobs, they want european nose on their iranian face which make them look like tranny.

As per statistics KSA and UAE spend most on cosmetics.
