There are many theories about the way Mansour got killed and why he got killed.
Some say Iran sold him out and gave him away, others claim Americans have superior intel and can kill any Taliban or AQ leader. Some others say Pakistan sold him out because he tried to befriend Iran.
Personally I'm gravitating towards the last. I believe there are many factions inside Taliban and external entities like the Pakistani government who are against closer ties between Taliban and Iran.
Within Taliban movement, many groups want to preserve a safe distance with the Iranian regime due to religious reasons. There are also supporters of Taliban in Gulf countries and in Pakistan who are all opposed to Iranians.
These groups wouldn't want the movement to become an ally of Iran in the political arena.
Pakistan and the Gulf states also oppose Iranian foreign policy. They wouldn't want to see Taliban becoming an asset of Iranian global agenda.
Pakistan also wants to control Afghan Taliban movement and have the most influence on the outcome of the ongoing conflict.
Therefore, I believe Mansour's movement in Baluchistan near Iranian border was tipped off either by ISI or anti Iranian elements within Taliban movement.
Iran benefits from having better ties with certain sunni groups. Due to the conflict in Syria, Iran is loosing support within Sunni world. A diplomatic friendship with the Taliban would benefit Iran in Asia and the subcontinent.
Therefore, I don't think the Iranians were responsible for his death.
