  • Peace deal with Hezb-e-Islami likely to be completed on Sunday

The Afghanistan High Peace Council (AHPC) officials have said peace deal with Hezb-e-Islami party led by Gulbuddin Hekmatyar will likely complete on Sunday.
Deputy High Peace Council Chief in Kabul, Ata-ur-Rehman has told The Associated Press that the deal could be completed after two years of negotiations on Sunday.
A Hezb-e-Islami party representative Amin Karim has also said he expected President Ashraf Ghani to approve the final version of the agreement on Sunday.
Meanwhile, reports emerged last week suggesting that the leader of the party Gulbuddin Hekmatyar will visit Kabul to sign the agreement with the Afghan government.
Mohammad Ismail Qasimyar, international relations adviser to Afghanistan High Peace Coucil, confired Hekmatyar is expected to visit Kabul to sign the agreement.
Citing the representatives of Hezb-e-Islami, Qasimyar said Hekmatyar is based in Afghanistan and the delegation is not prepared to disclose the location until he arrives in Kabul for formal meeting with the Afghan officials.
The delegation of Hezb-e-Islami arrived for peace talks to capital Kabul in mid March and shortly after the Quadrilateral Coordination Group (QCG) called on militant groups to participate in direct peace talks with the Afghan government.
Hekmatyar is considered is a notorious warlord for his involvement in the devastating civil war and insurgency following activities following the fall of the Taliban group

    Let's see:

When ISIS in Afghanistan emerged, Hukumatyar told his men to join them and fight against Taliban.

Recently it was revealed that Muhammed Khan, former chief of intelligence of Hekmatyar and mass murderer who is currently an advisor of Abdullahx2 has regular meetings with Bakhtiar, an infamous ISIS commander.

Since 2001 Hekmatyar didn't take in any significant battle against foreign forces and the regime in Kabul.

Few years ago, during the so called Arbakis uprising against Taliban, Hekmatyars men received weapons and money from Americans to fight against Taliban.

Hekmatyar's men are in Kabul for decades now working as special advisors of Ghani and previously Karzai.

Hekmatyar has been seen in public Peshawars Shamshatoo and in Zazi districts of Paktia.

He lives practically openly and his men are in the current government. He cooperated with the regime and even ISIS.

After acknowledging all these facts, one should wonder what these peace talks really mean?

Good news for us! I hate Gholo for everything he stand for but when I see praising of Saqaw, Mazari and rest then Gholo is not that bad. It is due time for unity among Pashton groups.

Gholo is a divider of pashtun groups. This is evident by the fact that many commanders left him in the 80's and he could not unite pashtuns to take kabul from masud. He is an opportunist and the only reason that he is not a part of the administration in kabul is because the americans did not want him.

He always had people loyal to him in Kunar and notice that is where the so called "ISIS in Afghanistan" is strongest.

As I mention I hate him with passion but he can tilt the scale in favor of Pashtuns. His people are very active in north and north east...ex Juma Khan Hamdard. I just wish and hope for Pashtuns Islamist to grow some sagacity and patriotism like that of Irani Akhonds---supporting Christian Armenia against Shia Azerbaijan for Iran interests.

This will create gap and havoc among Taliban. If we manage to bring HIB on our side some other Taliban groups shall follow.

I have said many times that Taliban days are numbered. Some of them will join government. Others will put down their weapons. Some of them will remain dumb Taliban and hardcore ones will join ISIS.

Inshallah once Taliban and their Pashtunist movement are defeated only Tajikism and Persian culture will remain as the main one in Afghanistan. Sooner or later we will impose our culture on Pashtuns.

US says will not oppose peace talks between Afghan govt and Hekmatyar party

The United States will not oppose the ongoing the ongoing political talks between the Afghan government and the Hezb-e-Islami party led by notorious warlord Gulbuddin Hekmatyar.
A State Department official has told Voice of America’s Afghan Service “the United States does not have any pre-conditions for supporting an Afghan-led, Afghan-owned reconciliation process.”
The delegation of Hezb-e-Islami arrived for peace talks with the Afghan government in mid March following the conclusion of Quadrilateral Coordination Group (QCG) meeting on Afghan peace process.
The Afghan High Peace Council officials have said they have reached to an agreement on majority of the 25 conditions of Hezb-e-Islami to join peace process.
Earlier, Mohammad Ismail Qasimyar, international relations adviser to Afghanistan High Peace Council, said Hekmatyar is expected to visit Kabul to sign the agreement.
According to the High Peace Council officials, Hekmatyar has demanded the release of Hezb-e-Islami prisoners with the signing of the agreement besides removing his name together with his party member’s from the international blacklist.
Meanwhile, the State Department official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, has told VOA that “the United States is prepared to work with the government of Afghanistan and members of the United Nations Security Council in considering sanctions relief in the event that an agreement is concluded that provides for fulfillment of the necessary conditions.”
Hekmatyar is considered is a notorious warlord for his involvement in the devastating civil war and insurgency following activities following the fall of the Taliban group.
Earlier, the group was insisting on full withdrawal of the foreign forces from the country to participate in peace talks.
However, Hekmatyar stepped back from his demands for the complete withdrawal of foreign forces with an official of Hezb-e-Islami Amin Karim Hekmatyar is no longer demanding that all foreign troops leave Afghanistan.

Joining an entity that receives orders from foreigners in exchange for finances against the interests of your own people is hardly patriotic. Opportunists are not patriotic, they are selfish and the current regime in Kabul are full of opportunists and sellouts.

The problem with people like you is that you are short sighted and cant fathom the destructive consequences of your immature actions and policies. Since you are creating another Pakistani like regime in Kabul, how can that kind of regime help its people or the people of the region when it is the main obstacle to progress for the whole region of south and central Asia.

I think the Talib spokesman said it best(which he rarely does) when responding to Hekmatyar talks when he said most of the Hezb is already in the gov't.

Anyways, while there are far more things going on behind the scenes, I don't see anything bad about this agreement. If nothing else, hundreds or thousands of hezb prisoners will be released.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

                    Which Sunday, Shahpur?

By the way Khushal and randolph would be happy because they are die-hard Akhwanis.

It was last Sunday. The deal has been concluded and Hekmatyar will be in Kabul in a couple of weeks to formally accept the deal, lay down weapons and work within the current framework of the country.
