  • McDonald’s opens its doors to Quetta

QUETTA: Balochistan foodies finally got a chance to enjoy the global taste of McDonald’s in their hometown Quetta as the international chain’s regional office was inaugurated in the provincial capital. The burger and fast food chain linked Quetta 17 years after McDonald’s first restaurant opened its door to the people of Pakistan in September 1998 in Lahore.

A regional branch of McDonald’s was inaugurated the other day by Director McDonald’s Jameel Mughal amidst a colourful ceremony enjoyed by a number of families and particularly the children. McDonald’s Country Operation Manager Tariq Butt, Brand Extension Consultant Saad Azhar Khan, Operation Consultant Abdul Nasir, Quetta Resturant Manager Umair Riaz and Salman Jameel, owner of the shopping mall where the restaurant is located, were present.

Salman Jameel said that opening of the McDonald’s indicates that the situation has improved in Quetta. He said the restaurant will provide a family-friendly ambiance allowing the local people to take out their near and dear ones for casual dining.

He said that such restaurants should be opened in Quetta so that the masses are given an opportunity to enjoy good food which they would enjoy in other cities.

He said it was the first restaurant and more would be opened in the future, adding that hopefully people would be attracted to it.

The people of Balochistan are about to get a taste of global burger brand right at their doorsteps. Umair Riaz said that McDonald’s recognition was the quality of its products.

People will go to McDonalds just to appear cool and out of curiosity otherwise Asian food is much better than this fast food junk.

A good example of progress is the pashtana who opened the first run and owned by a woman restaurant somewhere in Peshawar. Selling her own cooking talent and skills and using the material grown in the land of her own people.

Thats what globalisation is, you have to open up your market to foriegn investment and access and in return you can invest and have acess to their market. The developed countries hold an unfair advantage here as most global brands are owened by them and they have a monopoly over all the high tech products and services. You have to abide by their rules if you want to be part of global economy.
In the UK most independent shops owened by locals are closing because the Multinational companies are opening big department stores everywhere and the local businesses can't match their prices because multinationals have much more money so they can buy in bulk at cheaper prices so local businesses go out of business as they can't compete. The only way to stop this is through government intervention but most governments are slaves to big corporations so they are useless as well.

I really can't understand whats peoples problem with globalization/capitalism. Capitalist countries enjoy the highest quality of life standards in the world. Just compare GCC with Syria (before war). South Korea to North Korea. Taiwan or HK with China... and so on. Ex Soviet Republics, Vietnam, India,.. all these countries since they have adopted capitalism have become richer and stronger.

I don't think people are opposed to trade and commerce per se as humans have been doing that since creation. In capitalism, the person with the capital benifits the most as the name implies. The people who work to generate the capital are paid a fixed salary and the profits are not shared with them except for small bonuses and small rise in pay to account for inflation. 1% of people have more than 50% of the wealth and gap is becoming wider. There needs to be some sort controls and checks so the wealthy can't just keep building wealth without sharing it above a certain limit. What do you do when corporations become stronger than governments themselves and control the governments? Some sort capitalist/socialist system might work the best.

Lol at the retarded Western media trying to desperately shoehorn the Taliban into this:

Taliban Finds Nothing But Unhappy Meals At McDonald’s

McDonald's has gone to Quetta, Pakistan - and the Taliban aren't happy

McDonald's is the worst, they have all kinds of additives which no normal human being would ever willingly consume. The other day I read they use L Casein which is actually made from human hair, most probably from barbershops in China. Would you pay to eat hair? If so, holla me I got a bag full of hair for you for only 20 bucks

Most muslims being dumb and stupid think it is the best food in the world. I remember when it opened in saudi in 1994, it closed the road for 3 days, because of so many people wanting to go there

Its funny how muslims hate US/West, yet love the things that come out of there. It's just one of the so many aspects of muslim hypocrisy

Yes I see that too, the only reason the gulf arab still have some islamic tradition is becuase the goverment is forcing them, otherwise they would be as westernised as japan or south korea.
