  • Balochistan is governed by PMAP, so why isn't North Balochistan part of KPK?

PMAP (Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party) is considered a Pashtun nationalist party which Muhammad Khan Achakzai the head of the party.

Here is an article on Achakzai wanting to unite the Pashtun lands occupied by Pakiland:

QUETTA, June 25: Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) chairman Mahmood Khan Achakzai warned on Monday that the country was passing through a dangerous phase and it was the need of the hour to take wise decisions to resolve contentious issues.

Addressing a public meeting, he said Pakistan comprised Pakhtuns, Baloch, Sindhis, Seraikis and Punjabis and a new social contract should be worked out among the nationalities in order to put them in control of their resources.

He said all divided areas of Pakhtuns should form a new province and until such time it should be ensured that they got the same rights in all spheres of life as being enjoyed by the Baloch so that both communities could live in harmony and peace.

The PkMAP chief warned that if equal rights of Pakhtuns in the province were not accepted then they could themselves declare their separate province.

He said the PkMAP was in favour of Islam and Pakistan but added that recognition of the rights of five nationalities would strengthen the federation.

He said Pakistan was isolated at the international level because of its wrong policies and emphasised that the country should revisit its policies.

Mr Achakzai said there should be no role for the military and intelligence agencies in politics and politicians should be allowed to deal with political issues and serve society.

He said the government had failed to solve problems being faced by people.

The PkMAP leader condemned the killing of innocent people, kidnapping for ransom and killing of Pakhtun traders and transporters in the Baloch-dominated areas of the province, adding that such inhuman acts would only deepen differences between the two communities.

Now PMAP is in charge of Balochistan yet there are 0 developments towards rightfully making the northern Pashtun regions of Balochistan part of KPK.

Pashtuns in Pakistan need to unite into one province including the tribal areas and get rid of FCR. It took 60 years to change the name of the province to Pakhtunkhwa, Let's hope it doesn't take that long for this to happen.

Balochistan is governed by the closest thing to a Pashtun nationalist party in Pakistan and has explicitly stated that it wants to unite all the Pashtun lands, yet they are doing squat. If they don't unite the Pashtun lands, then probably no one will. But what I'm really confused about is why they haven't talked about unification even once since coming to power.

"Hey, we're gonna unite all the Pashtun regions".
      Then they win elections.

The Chief Minister is a Baloch, Abdul Malik Baloch...... governors are powerless in Pakistan. Beside , changing the boundaries of province in Pakistan is not as simple and easy as it might appear to you. Under article 239, you first need to pass the bill for change in provincial boundary with two third majority in both houses of parliament. The bill is then sent to provincial assembly , where it should be passed with two-third majority. Finally president signs the signature.

In Pakistan, the land of the pure, if you are not a Punjabi you are f*cked up.

Baluchs and Pathans are struggling for freedom, democracy and equality. RAW and NDS need to boost their aid to this people. Their life is at stack.

Okay, thanks for the info. But can't they at least try to make noise for it similar to how the Hindkowans have been making noise for a separate Hazara province for a long time now (even though they're just a slight majority in Hazara)?

What makes you think that they are not talking about it in their jalsa and seminars?

Their main focus is on giving Pashtuns of Balochistan their due rights. Pashtuns of Balochistan have suffered at the hands of not just federal but also Baloch-Brahui confederation who are greedily dominating every thing in Balochistan just because province is named after them. A Pashtun of Balochistan is not properly represented in the province in proportion to their population. Moreover Baloch-Brahui claims Quetta, Sibi and some other areas to be theirs, which keeps the PMAP entangled in Balochistan affairs, rather than expanding their focus to KPK and FATA. While Punjabi might appear villain due to their dominance on national level, and due to army, but by nature Baloch is more oppressive and cruel. They display their oppressive nature whenever they are in positions of power. The Wadera of South Punjab and Sindh is Baloch, is worst oppressor.

Beside, these Achakzai etc are politicians , and play politics, They talk big but are not dedicated and practical. There is a saying among Balochs "The Pashtun wines and dines with the Punjab, but whines with the Baloch and Sindhis"........hinting at the duplicity of Pashtun nationalist of ANP and PMAP

I'm just trying to compare it to the Hazara issue. There are so many street protests, resolutions taken by PTI, many announcements on Hazara that gain media coverage all over PK, etc. In contrast, the only way we hear any statement regarding North Balochistan is on PMAP's Wiki and the single Dawn news article linked there. Why such a huge contrast even though PMAP is governing Balochistan? If they were talking about it in their jalsa and seminars, then I don't understand why there is a pin-drop silence on the issue. I've also talked to some Quetta Pashtuns before and they told me that although they prefer KPK to Balochistan, they overall don't care about it. Many Hindkowans however seem to be passionate on the Hazara issue even though a couple of them are just Indophone Gaduns and Tarins, and Battagram and western Mansehra are majority Pashtun.

Their main focus is on giving Pashtuns of Balochistan their due rights. Have they done anything regarding Pashtun rights in Balochistan? At least public announcements?

Moreover Baloch-Brahui claims Quetta, Sibi and some other areas to be theirs, which keeps the PMAP entangled in Balochistan affairs, rather than expanding their focus to KPK and FATA. I think they are equally oppressive to Pashtuns, but I sympathize with Balochs more since we have an equal threat, the Desification of our lands. Separatist sentiment also exists among Baloch people, to a MUCH larger degree than Pashtuns, which is something I admire about them.

Is Sibi majority Pashtun or Baloch?

Achakzai barely even talks though. If he at least just talked about the North Balochistan issue from time to time, it would give awareness and publicity to the issue, but instead he just said it once and has kept silence since.

Is it true ANP has ties to Afghanistan by the way?

Actually it's baloch who think they are becoming minorty in their own province because of Afghani refugees getting CNIC by bribing Nadra officials or it's conspiracy on part of pashtuns in Balochistan to become majority.

They are against holding any census unless Afghani muhajirs are deported. Imagine the ****storm if in census this year pashtuns are suddenly majority in Balochistan lol

According to Ethnologue; 30% of Balochistan speaks Baloch, 30% speaks Pashto, 13% speaks Brahui, and the remaining 18% speak Indic languages (mostly Sindhi related) and Persian. So the number of ethnic Balochs and Pashtuns in Balochistan are roughly the same.

The number of Afghans in 2005 was around 750k in a province of currently around 13m people, and most of them lived in the Pashtun city of Quetta. A lot have left since then. The Afghan refugees remaining in Balochistan are a very small fraction of the province's population. Furthermore, refugees (including their children born in PK) aren't included in censuses to begin with since they are not Pakistani citizens.

Last census was held in 1998, Baloch/Brahui are 55%, Pashtuns 30% and 15% Seraikis, sindhis etc Baloch and Brahui are one and same in Balochistan.

Things have changed since then, if Paki pashtun population is suddenly 40-50% in this year census then we know from where extra % is coming from.

Baloch/Brahui are currently 43% whereas Pashtuns have remained the same at 30%. The only increase is Indic speakers. So if anything, its Indics that are responsible for the decline of Baloch.

Not 43% but 55% 1998 census, not sure from where are you getting your numbers from. Indics are natives of Balochistan just like many baloch are natives of sindh and south punjab.

43% is the current figure, try to keep up.

Between 1998 and now, the percentage of Pashtuns has not increased whereas the percentage of Indics has increased. And you are blaming the decline in the percentage of Balochs on Pashtuns? It makes much more sense that it was Indics that caused the decrease in the percentage of Balochs considering they're the only group whose percentage increased.

Nobody said Indics aren't native to Balochistan, stop putting words in my mouth.

There is no current figure because last census was held in 1998. Your figures don't add up, do you even math?

                              43%
                              30%
                              18% "others"

                              total=91%

By end of 2016 Pakistan will hold another census after long time, only then we will get clear idea.
