On January 15, 2016, Afghan Air Force (AAF) formally received four A-29 light attack aircrafts from the United States. The delivery of these attack aircrafts was another milestone for the AAF. These aircrafts will be a great addition to their military capabilities. These aircrafts are fuel efficient, easy to maintain, and proven effective in counter-insurgency. Furthermore, these aircrafts are well suited for Afghanistan’s hot, high and dusty environment. A-29 super Tucano aircrafts also come equipped with powerful cameras that work in poor weather, and at the same time, maintain the ability to work at night as well, which will be very effective and vital in spotting and destroying enemy targets. It is worth mentioning that eight Afghan A-29 super Tucano pilots have already graduated from flight school in the United States and 30 more will be trained by U.S. Air Force over the next three years.
In your opinion, how important is the addition of these four light attack aircrafts to Afghan Airforce fleet?
