An interesting quote from Ahmad Jawad, the father of the unfortunate boy Basat Jawad who died in the blast interviewed by Marc Nicol:

I asked Ahmed who he blamed for the sickening attack which killed his son. As I waited for my translator to put Ahmed’s words into English, I assumed he would curse the butchery of the Taliban.

But Ahmed, a shopkeeper at Kabul airport, said: ‘Civilians like my son are dying because of the presence of British and international forces and government members in this city. The Taliban target Westerners who use these restaurants and innocent people get in the way.

‘They have killed my son but I would rather the Taliban came back because there were not explosions like this when they were in power.’

Sounds like Ahmad understands Afghanistan far far better than Green Zone Junkies, emigres, Jon Kerry's b-itches, dog washers (Karzai etc)... and it sounds like Ahmad, despite his grief, is, like Nick Berg's dad assessing the outcomes of hoisting war on a people that never asked for it and the results of asymmetric warfare. He didn't need 3 degrees and a three piece suit to match and World Bank and IMF funds to brag about while eating at Green Zone restaurants where Afghans are forced to be called "Mike, Steve, and Shaun" to work at restaurants that no even middle class Afghan can afford to eat at.

1. He notes that an insurgent group is targeting foreign presence.
2. He notes said group uses asymmetric tactics in RESPONSE to the presence of said foreign presence
3. He yearns for stability of some sort.
4. He lumps in government types with the foreigners

I am not taking exception or accepting his opinion I am conveying them based on what the reporter said. If he had said he thinks Hamid Karzai is the new Prophet I would have quoted that as well.
