Afghanistan should embark on a hard graft with China for that it facilitates section of the road through Badakhshan, the northern region and and through Herat with Iran. It will balance both Afghanistan and China's trade and political relations within the region. Moreover, it comes with convenience where one country is crossed over to Iran than 3 that don't get along and sheer technical complexity that comes with it.

China is instead considering Linking Iran and Afghanistan to CPEC in Pakistan.

          Iran Checked

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Iran have agreed to consider linking the latter with the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in an effort to strengthen border markets and upgrade road and railway networks.

“Pakistan has invited Iran to become part of the CPEC and help strengthen border markets, upgrade railways, build warehouses and open/upgrade border crossing points,” said a senior officer in the Ministry of Commerce while talking to The Express Tribune.

Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has said that "a peaceful Afghanistan" can start regional connectivity and the benefits of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) can be shared between the two countries. - See more at: http://www.afghanistannews.net/index....ISrczv5n.dpuf

              Something interesting recently happened.

Anyway Pakistan doesn't need anyone help against India.
That is not the point. The point is that Pakistan needs China than the other way around. As much as the relationship is touted by Pakistan the reality is quite different. Consider China whatever but it drives the agenda in the relationship. For example it doesn't give a shyt about how Pakistan feels and it has adapted a neutral stance on the issue of Kashmir as India has become a large commercial partner.

Pakistan badly needs resolving the Kashmir issue which massively strains the country's economy and and resources and keeps it off-balance domestically as well as internationally. It will keep it aid dependent and vulnerable to strategic whims of the likes of China and U.S. etc.

Here is what experts and high-up Paki officials say:

"Pakistan wants help resolving its longstanding challenges with India. Even minor progress on substantive issues would promote regional stability. China cannot provide the leverage to do so, nor would it necessarily be in its interests to advance India-Pakistan normalization; Pakistan is useful in balancing the U.S.-India strategic partnership. Consequently, Sharif suggested to an audience of U.S. senators that the U.S. was the “most relevant” third party to help mediate on Kashmir. The White House acknowledged the issue in the joint statement (which noted the importance of “resolving all outstanding territorial and other disputes, including Kashmir”)."

Afghanistan will be part of CPEC in as far as the natural resources extracted from Afghanistan will be transported via it. The one build one road is a better option for commercial and trade linkage. Or Afghanistan can use both. Anyway Afghanistan would be taking it up with China as CPEC wil be China's lease for another half of a century. I hope you wont be doing the marketing free of charge. lol

Polio virus strain in Syria confirmed as being from Pakistan - WHO

Polio that has crippled at least 13 children in Syria has been confirmed as being caused by a strain of the virus that originated in Pakistan and is spreading across the Middle East, the World Health Organization said.

Genetic sequencing shows the strain found in Syrian children in Deir al-Zor, where an outbreak was detected last month, is linked to the strain of Pakistani origin found in sewage in Egypt, Israel and Palestinian territories in the past year.

"Genetic sequencing indicates that the isolated viruses are most closely linked to virus detected in environmental samples in Egypt in December 2012 (which in turn had been linked to wild poliovirus circulating in Pakistan)," the United Nations agency said in a statement on Monday.

Closely-related strains of the wild poliovirus of Pakistani origin have also been detected in sewage samples in Israel, the West Bank and Gaza Strip since February 2013, it said.

Polio virus has been confirmed in 13 of 22 children who became paralyzed in the northern Syrian province of Deir al-Zor. Investigations continue into the other 9 cases. It is Syria's first polio outbreak since 1999.

No children in Egypt, Israel or the Palestinian territories have been hit by polio thanks to high immunization rates and a strong response to the alert, WHO spokeswoman Sona Bari said.

Polio virus is endemic in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria despite a 25-year-old campaign to eradicate the disease, which can paralyze a child in hours.

                    IMMUNISATION RATES

Islamist fighters from countries including Pakistan are among groups battling to oust President Bashar al-Assad, leading to speculation that they brought the virus into the country.

The WHO says it is unlikely that adults, who generally have higher immunity, carried the virus into Syria and that its mode of transmission will probably never be known.

Syria's immunization rates have plummeted from more than 90 percent before the conflict to around 68 percent. Polio mainly affects children under five and cannot be cured, only prevented.

"All the children (paralyzed) are under two years old, so they were all born after immunization services fell apart," Bari told Reuters. "No doubt the outbreak will be large."

Children living in unsanitary conditions are especially vulnerable to the virus, which spreads via faecal-oral transmission and contaminated food and water.

More than 20 million children, including 1.6 million in Syria, are to be vaccinated in Syria and neighboring countries over the next six months, U.N. agencies said last week.
Nothing to brag about. Polio is widespread in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, usually disabling Afghan refugees. Surprise surprise?

China equally need Pakistan though for the time being Pakistan need more china because terrrorism has hampered our economy and china is one of the main reason of the recovery of our economy

This is the beginning of China's President Speech

In a historic address to the Joint Session of Parliament earlier today, President Jinping hailed Pakistan and China's long-standing ties, saying Islamabad stood by Beijing at a time when it stood isolated on the world stage.
                          .
"This will be my first trip to Pakistan, but I feel as if I am going to visit the home of my own brother," Xi said in an article for the Pakistani media ahead of his visit.
Average person like you can't understand the complexity of Pakistan relations with China or USA.

I have already told you that Pakistan don't want to solve the kashmir problem for the time being.

We raise it on every forum but the motive under table are much different.

Let suppose if tomorrow kashmir problem is solved and so does our hostility with india, the west will bombard us with sanctions if we don't give up our nukes.

It also gives lot of political importance to Pakistan.

Same reason why Pakistan claims Kashmir and not the rest of northen India where Muslims use to rule.

                                1. China's south-western flank is important as it needs that to bypass the tortuously long sea route via the precarious Malacca straits.

                                2. It can use the Pakistan route but that is not the only possible route to the Persian gulf and the Chinese are too sensible to put their eggs in one basket, so will also use a China-Afghanistan-Iran route to the Arabian gulf too to transport Iranian oil and goods.

                                3. The Iranian economy will probably experience huge growth soon with the possible removal of sanctions and will probably be more important to China than much more underveloped Pakistan.

                                4. The China to Pakistan route is not fully functional yet and could continue to be rendered unoperational by continued rebel attacks by Baloch fighters.

In that case, the China to Afghanistan to Iran route becomes more important.

                                5. For China to Afghanistan to Iran routes to be effective, there needs to be security i.e. reduction of Taliban violence.

The Taliban are controlled by Pakistan and China knows that, so China can lean on Pakistan (useful tool for pressurizing and weakening India) to rein in the Taliban a bit more.

Earlier this year the two de facto leaders of Pakistan, the army chief and ISI chief were regularly jumping over to Kabul for visits, which prompted speculation about some sort of major concern on their part. It may have been Chinese pressure on Pakistan to start behaving a bit more in Afghanistan.

The Taliban are a weakened force incapable of even taking control or having the resources to run a relatively unimportant provinicial town such as Kunduz, and most people know the Taliban will never regain power in Afghanistan ever again, but do have the power to retard, block Afghan economic development.
