why not create a thread where we can discuss all the begherata culture and kamasaltob practices found in lar pashtun without carrying any bias. i would really like to discuss the little boys mujra and zanrkitoba practices found in our area and adjacent which are practiced now in fully open. i still think private woman dancing mujra is better than little boys dancing mujra in open. someone should correct me if i am wrong.

with all due respect, wealthy families in rural areas always bring women to provide entertainment in weddings for their male guests. this is not something new or exclusive to anp only. their own women are not even allowed to watch tv or have a meal before all the men in their families have been served first.

I have no 'evil' intention, i am simply 'blunt' about ANP. You can open separate thread about Zarnkitob social evil and i will surely contribute to that but lets keep this one about ANP.Originally posted by marwat View Postwhy not create a thread where we can discuss all the begherata culture and kamasaltob practices found in lar pashtun without carrying any bias. i would really like to discuss the little boys mujra and zanrkitoba practices found in our area and adjacent which are practiced now in fully open. i still think private woman dancing mujra is better than little boys dancing mujra in open. someone should correct me if i am wrong.
ANP are leaders, role models, they make promises and make big speeches. They consider themselves cheshtan of Nang, ghairat , Pashto etc but they are opposite of it. I am not the only who is saying that, why do think tides turned in the recent elections?. I feel the overall environment under ANP government was suffocating and and there was 'nahosat' about it. About this Mujra culture, it is characteristically prevalent in ANP-dominated areas and ANP leaders own cinmas and pashto films businesses. This party arranges this mujra whenever they celebrate.

Bacha Khan and Nehru in Waziristan
The main purpose of Nehru's visit to NWFP was to boost the morale of the Congress and push their cause on the Frontier. This was against the advice of the governor, Sir Olaf Caroe, and the Viceroy. When Nehru arrived at Peshawer Airport, he was greeted by a large and hostile league demonstration. It was an ugly situation and he had to be taken out through a back door. Nehru then visited Tribal areas.[1]
The first town in tribal territory on Nehru's itinerary was Miramshah, where he was to address a Jirga. But according to reports reaching the British, the Utmanzai Wazirs were not impressed with his pledge to 'set them free', calling out, 'why dont you speak pashto? Go back to Hindostan'. His reception at Razmak was no better. The tribesmen fired on the plane before it even arrived. Robin Hodson, who was the political agent of South Waziristan, witnessed Nehru's address to the Jirga there. 'Instead of remaining seated, to my astonishment Nehru got up and started addressing the tribesmen as though he were at a political rally, waving his arms around and marching up and down. At Jirga, it is customary to sit on the ground and the person addressing the meeting would be seated on a chair. But Nehru's manner didnt please them. Again he said that he would set them free from slavery of the British, but the reply -- in Urdu for Nehru to understand-- came: 'we are not the slaves of British and we are certainly not going to be your slaves'. Using the contemptuous word for an indian, torkunai, they said that if they had to deal with any Indian, it would be Jinnah. The meeting broke up in disorder. When Nehru was advanced upon Malak Mehr Dil Mahsood with an umbrella, it was Robin Hodson who stood in to protect him. Hodson was therefore somewhat surprised to listen to All radio India saying that political officers there had arranged a demonstration against Nehru.

Nehru examines hole in the windshield after pelting near Landi Kotal
Malak Mehr Dil Mahsood giving Jawahar Lal Nehru a Piece of his Mind while Political Agent Robin Hodson tries to stop the approaching Malak.
At Wana, Ahmadzai Wazirs refused to meet him, and debagged the suited and booted Hindus who went to visit him. Abdul Ghaffar Khan, who, together with Dr. Khan Sahib accompanied Nehru throughout the trip, spoke scathingly of the British officers in Waziristan, calling them 'suave and cunning'. He attributed the docility of tribesmen to the allowances given to them by the British. Nehru journeyed onto Tank and Jandola, where he met some of the smaller tribes. 'Here the tribesmen received us warmly and brought black sheep to present us', noted Ghaffar khan. Back in Peshawar, Nehru's next stop was Khyber pass, but the Afridis refused to grant usual tribal protection and the recently reconstituted Khyber Rifles were called in to protect the party against sniping and stone throwing. After tea in Torkham, they returned to Peshawar without meeting a single Afridi.[2]
The account of the details of Nehru's visit is available from a letter which the political agent of South waziristan wrote to his wife:"Abdul Ghaffar Khan opened the proceedings by telling the Waziris that the great Nehru had heard of how they had been oppressed by the firangis and had decided to come and investigate their condition. They were poor and the new Indian government was determined to give them schools, to teach them their religion, to build hospitals and to civilize them. The Wazir spokesman replied more in grief than in anger that Abdul Ghaffar had got it all wrong. The Utmanzai Wazirs were oppressed by no one, nor did they need instruction in teaching of Islam from a man whose son had married a parsi and whose niece (Dr.Khan sahib's daughter Marium) was married to a christian. This remark infuriated Dr. Khan Sahib who called them paid toadles of the political agent. This remark was too much for the jirga who leapt to their feet in protest. Smouldering with indignation, the party then departed [to meet Mehsuds]. A Mehsud Jirga was assembled in the residency garden. Nehru spoke in Urdu. The Mahsuds probably didnt understand much. But when he said that those present were all debauched by British robbery, it was too much for old kaka. Mir Badshah's father, who in the coarse way that Mahsuds have, said 'Hindu, if the British pay us money, there's a good reason. Our private parts are of extraordinary size as you will find out to your cost before long. 'With that the old boy stumped out. The political agent tried to persuade Nehru to end his tour after this but Bacha khan begged him to continue. Things only got worse however as their car was pelted with stones, injuring the two leaders with flying glass. (Hunt and Harrison 1980:231) [3]

Marwat, the issue with the Awami Nationalist Party is that its base is variable. You are right in that I have met hafizaan whose families back that party and they do peenza wakht lmeenzoona.Originally posted by marwat View Postplease tell us how ?
But what is seen by the party faithful as a show of plurality and incorporation and protection of minorities has actually resulted in the party being utilized as a promoter of violence through the hands of others. Their argument is "whats good for the goose is good for the gander." That is, "if the opposition gets millions and billions from the Arab states and the Pak Military establishment, well then we are justified in our own excesses as a counter weight."
So take for instance, Farhat Taj Andersen, Mohammad Taqi, and Afzal Bangash... the latter contended when he pushed MKP, that rooting out doctrinaire cultural influences meant religiosity of the peasantry not helping his cause. Are they helping the cause of peace or are they subversionists coopting a cause for their own benefit? They act as crypto members of the Pashtun polity but instead would be seen as completely inauthentic by the overwhelming majority of Pashtuns.
Its similar to what happened in Iraq where Yazidi leadership was specifically quoted in the NY Times of saying "The Sunnis are calling us national traitors because we translate for the US Army... We scoff at them and say, So?" That was in 2004. Now look what happened 11 years later? When the Anbar Sunni got back up on their feet and started fighting - the response was predictable.
Protecting one's own against the excesses of others is a noble thing in my opinion. I don't fault Pashtun Nationalists for loving their history, land, poetry, etc. But a part of that character has always been some important incorporation of Sunni Islamic practice melded to the innate tribal culture.
Instead, these guys claim they are serving as the quality control factor and rooting out non native Arab imperial mores and ideas, which we both know is absurd. At their extreme, if you read what Soldat Amir for instance writes, he calls Islam the itself in any practiced form "Arab Imperialism." So even if the party faithful say "well we don't mean practical day to day five madhab sunni Islam of Hanifa - we mean Salafi injections done recently ... they have to explain why Bangash and people like Soldat Amir state more openly their adversarial attitude toward all forms of Islam. Its almost as absurd as this guy:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frazier_Glenn_Miller,_Jr.
Alot of these nationalist parties throughout the world have a few traits in common. One of the ones that stands out is this absurd belief that they can somehow take their race back to the "pre-Abrahamic faiths" religion their indigenous people practiced. This is the dumbest idea in history since these centuries of Turkic, Arab, Iranian, Mauryan, Kushan Greek, etc involvement are the mixed genetic basis for the regions people in general. Marco Polo described some sort of pagan practice in the area and others described buddhist practice etc. But at the end of the day, the Pashtun people since their ascent to power in their age of glory during the Mir Wais Ahmad Shah Baba era - have inextricably been associated with sunni Islam.
Then regarding the other stuff, like drinking, dancing, mixing of the genders etc... I think its a contradictory set of stances. In some areas in the field work women did go outdoors and collect water from the streams and in other areas they were confined to the home etc. But this party cannot on the one hand talk big about "Arab Imperalism" and have radical members that target Islam but then on the other hand want to incorporate Western cultural practice and call it "modernity" since this is in and of itself non-indigenous!
I dont disagree that politicians in general are rats and that they all have their bad habits. Whatever party they belong to - they are often useless sacks of sh-it whose only skill is speaking. If they were not politically based their only utility would be doing good customer service at a McDonalds. But this often quoted Awami Nationalist outside notion that somehow the "hujra versus mosque" somehow proves that Pashtuns are basically brown "Bill Clinton" and brown "George Bush" just in a different body and region taken hostage by mullahs and zealots is absurd too. Certainly, people evolve their beliefs and practices based on cultural interactions... but that goes both ways with respect to interactions in the East and with the West. And out of the two, our religion has always played in important role in our history. Any indigenous form of "secularism" is not exactly Jeffersonian. The red hatters go and make their excesses public and then hide behind this concept of "hey it is my personal choice" OK, fine it is your personal choice but then get ready for the people's "personal response" if they deal with you. So instead of waiting for the masses to evolve a view point they instead use crypto tactics and subterfuge to try and force a separation of "church and state."
In a way they are sort of a mirror image of the very zealots they claim are problems for the watan. And this is my issue with them really. If they stood up and said all Pashtun lives are sacred and practiced gradual progressive change within the context of the true fabric of the society ... they might find more sympathy.
Instead their literary vangaurd are like the anti mullahs - often in the form of Taqi, Taj Andersen, and some of the other clowns... all out there crowing for support from the outside powers that just 20 years prior they condemned.
And why did Taj Andersen and Taqi and Co stand against the Americans 20 years ago? Well because in their view back then Russia was supporting an ideology that would mitigate the influence of the dominant religion and permit their ilk to rise. But now that America is at loggerheads with sunni Islam - they jumped to the other ship.
I sense you are a genuine person but I am truly urging you to reflect on the totality of the party's membership and representation just as you urge fellow Muslims to examine the supportive factor behind some of the reactionary zealots on the other side.
If you guys disown these sorts of clowns (Taj Andersen, Taqi, etc) and proclaim that they do not speak for you and the party en mass this may begin to erode the narrative above."2 crackheads don't become any better or stronger by sharing the same crack pipe." - Greatest PF quote

Shame on ANP. This is how ANP's functions are. If some one has doubts about the authenticity of its association with ANP, note the Awami national party poster on the wall in the video . They drink Sharabs like christians and if India had not partioned, they would have been marrying their daughters to Hindus and Sikhs... (Bacha Khan's niece married a Sikh while Ghani Khan the sharabi married a Parsi woman , very much similiar to Jinnah is'nt?)
They are empty vassals making louder sounds...Shout word "Pashtunwali" so much but are champions of Kamasaltob and Khartob. The Ultra ethnic nationalism , has reduced their brains to pea-size

I can’t watch the videos but I know there are videos on the internet where workers and student leaders of political parties are seen in merry making and drinking. I don’t know what do you want to prove from that?
Leaders can’t stop people from joining their parties, anybody whatever his/her ideology is can join a party he wish now holding the head of the party or the party as a whole responsible for the misconduct of such a worker is unjust. Political parties working in Pakhtunkhwa are comprised of the same pakhtuns living there. Watching mujras during wedding and other functions in hujras is a centuries long old practice, even when there was no political party and the people didn’t know about politics. You should blame all the pakhtuns instead than targeting a single political party if you also live in the same society. Haven’t you seen such mujras in your locality? Isn’t Bachabazi which is a far more dangerous evil prevails in your locality? From Mullah to a Khan and from a teacher to a common pakhtun, aren’t they indulged in it?
It will be good if we criticize and discourage such social evils but one shouldn’t blame a single party or an organization for such evils when he/she is also part of the same society where such evil practices prevail.Na soz sho na saaz sho,

Wow.. I can't believe you defended that bull****. I am a Punjabi, and in my family going to a mujra equals being kicked out of the house. When I listen to pathans like you, I often think that my family is more pashtun than you pashtuns. We have a bathak, and we don't even meet with our female cousins. Only a dala(pimp) will propogate a mujra. I know Punjabis and Pashtuns are very involved with these kinds of things, but don't forget that not all Punjabis and Pathans indulge in this kind of ****.

The reason why such people join ANP is because the ideology of ANP appeals to pimps, prostitutes, alcoholics, sodomites and drug addicts.Originally posted by Yousafzai Pakhtun View Post

You can ask your friend @history of the pashtuns.
I don't have a complex towards anyone, because either someone is Muslim, or someone is not. I believe in my Allah swt, and only Allah swt can judge anyone. It is. Anyone who has ever met a punjabi can tell you that these people have perverted minds. They say "chod" in every sentence they speak like they are proud of their vulgarity! The call each other things like "pen chods" and "madar chods" even when cursing at their own children!Originally posted by Shamlawar Khurasani View PostYou are a kaafir and a slanderer. Languages like urdu and punjabi are very cheap and reflect the cheap culture and barbaric mind set of the people who speak these drivel. Punjabis always talk about rape and sodomy and express sexual curioisity about peoples mothers. They have no class and are totally deranged. This is their culture, the ultimate manifestation of which can be found in Heera Mandi of Lahore, just a stone throw away from Aurangzeb's mosque!
It is one of the great missed opportunities of history that Aurangzeb did not destroy these pakis once and for all. But certainly he put them and their paki filth in its place during his lifetime.Long Live Baloch Freedom Struggle Until Victory!
