Depends the event covered.

Most news outlets simply report an event happening & add an opinion to it.
But they never really investigate it like good journalists should.

Al-Jazeera blocks article slamming Saudi Arabian human rights record

Al-Jazeera is partly funded by the House of Thani - the ruling family of Qatar

Alexandra Sims Saturday 19 December 201536 comments

The Qatar-based news network, Al-Jazeera, has prevented an article slamming human rights in Saudi Arabia from being viewed outside the US.

The article, titled “Saudi Arabia Uses Terrorism as an Excuse for Human Rights Abuses” and published on Al-Jazeera America’s website on 3 December, cites reports 50 people are intended to be executed for alleged terrorist crimes, injustices in the treatment of Saudi’s minority Shia population and criticises the country’s relationship with the US.

The article is understood to still be available in the US, but when viewed in other countries is replaced with an error page.

A tweet from Al-Jazeera America’s account with the article’s headline, pictured on a Bahraini website, appears to have been deleted, while the Saudi Arabian newspaper Okaz quotes Al-Jazeera's director apologising for the article, The Intercept reports.

The article, written by Arjun Sethi, a human rights lawyer and professor of law at George Town University, has been reprinted by The Intercept.

Many of the criticisms in Mr Sethi’s piece have been internationally reported in the media. They include a sharp increase in Saudi executions this year - according to Amnesty International over 150 people have been killed in 2015; the sentencing to death of Palestinian poet Ashraf Fayadh for “apostasy”; and allegations Saudi Arabian air strikes in Yemen have killed civilians.

Mr Sethi also critiques the relationship between Saudi Arabia and the US, writing: “Saudi Arabia often escapes moral condemnation in large part because of its close relationship with the US."

Mr Sethi refers to the blocked article on Twitter saying: “I’m not afraid of the Saudi regime. The only thing I am afraid of is my conscience. I will not submit to censorship.”

Al-Jazeera, a Qatar-based state-funded broadcaster launched in 1996, has gained credibility for its seemingly independent news coverage.

The news network is now one of the largest in the world with 80 bureaus across the globe.

It is partly funded by the House of Thani, the ruling family of Qatar, and assertions from Al-Jazeera officials that the organisation is editorially independent from the Qatar government have been contested.

According to The Economist, Al-Jazeera has been criticised by Arab viewers for bolstering its coverage of Qatari-backed rebel fighters in Libya and Syria and the Qatar-aligned Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. It has also been accused of ignoring human-rights abuses by those same rebels.

In 2013, 22 Al-Jazeera staff in Egypt resigned over the organization's supposed bias toward the Muslim Brotherhood.

The Qatar monarchy, ruled by Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, is allied with Saudi Arabia against the Syrian government and is part of Saudi Arabia’s campaign against Houthi rebels in Yemen.

Referring to the article, Al-Jazeera’s headquarters in Doha told The Intercept: “After hearing from users from different locations across the world that several of our web pages were unavailable, we have begun investigating what the source of the problem may be and we hope to have it resolved shortly.”

The Independent has contacted Al-Jazeera and Al-Jazeera America for comment.

              1. Western media fanboys on this forum and in general believe that if a white western journalist says something it must be true but if a brown Arab or a Slavic Russian says something it must be false.

They do not believe that all media have an agenda and none must be believed blindly and that their claims can be questioned.

Rather for western media fanboys on this forum such as Shamlawar Khurasani, Luffy (History of Pashtuns) the western media must be believed and there can be no critical questioning of them.

              2. Notice how the Independent newspaper constantly refers to the Qatari dimension to Al-Jazeera trying to insinuate that this is why Al-Jazeera is biased.

The truth is Al-Jazeera is western run, managed and primarily staffed by westerners and most of what it says conforms to the policy agenda of western governments.

People should be sceptical of RT, Press TV but also of Al-Jazeera, Fox and the western media.

Many "Islamists", Arab nationalists and others on this forum revere, if not "worship" the western media. For them:

                1. The western media is always true.
                2. The western media is always sincere and objective.
                3. The western media is independent, not connected to western regimes or corporations.

However these "Islamists"/Arab nationalists are wrong.

The western media is not a divine entity, flawless and always pure and honest. The western media is also one with an agenda, though these "Islamists"/Arab nationalists will deny it, and is just as biased as Press TV, RT etc.

In this thread I will try and help these "Islamists"/Arab nationalists to deal with their brainwashing, their adoration of the white man, of white western journalists and try to educate them and free them from their indoctrination, mental slavery and mental colonialism.

BBC email exposes biased stance against democratically elected gov't after failed Gülenist coup

An e-mail circulated on social media revealed that the British broadcaster BBC was desperately looking for an interviewee that would be critical of the government, and speak against the current situation in Turkey.

The email, reportedly sent by James Bryant, a BBC World News producer, said that the broadcaster was 'struggling to find anyone in the country who is critical of what the government is doing', after the failed Gülenist coup attempt on July 15 against the country's democratically elected government.

"We're hoping to find someone here who might be willing to speak out against the current situation." the email says.

Meanwhile, Gülnur Aybet, a Professor of International Relations at Bahçeşehir University and the Director BAUCESS Center for Security Studies, also said in a series of tweets regarding BBC's attitude towards her during an interview.

Gulnur Aybet, Turkish academic who has complained of the abusive BBC.

"The BBC were quite rude to me this morning: "we know were u stand cos you haven't lost your job." What kind of journalism is that?," she said in her tweet.

"The BBC were also quite unprofessional when they introduced me as: "she thinks its a good idea that people lost their jobs" never said so," Aybet added.

BBC email exposes biased stance against democratically elected gov't after failed Gülenist coup.

In the aftermath of the failed coup attempt by the Gülenist Terror Organization (FETÖ) that killed at least 240 people and wounded over 1,500 others, the Western media has largely ignored the unity Turkish citizens put forward against the coup soldiers, in order to protect their democratic choices and people's will. Rather, they have been focusing on criticizing the elected government's response to the would-be putsch.

Britain's BBC aired a video saying that accused FETÖ head Fetullah Gülen "has millions of followers in Turkey," without mentioning the movement's 40-year infiltration of critical state institutions like the army, judiciary, security, and intelligence units and various bureaucratic institutions with a variety of identities, aiming to seize control of the state.

An article by the BBC headlined "Erdoğan: Turkey's ruthless president" described President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as one of the most divisive leaders in the history of modern Turkey, ignoring the fact that people from all sectors of the country and political creeds rushed to the streets to stop the illegal coup attempt that was aimed at overthrowing the elected government.

Comment: Now watch how all the Arab nationalists/"Islamists" on this forum jump to defend their beloved BBC and western media and claim that it is always truthful and always honest and we should never dare question it and always believe in it blindly.

The truth is western regimes are just as corrupt as eastern regimes except in internal affairs where they are more civilized and practice restricted democracy and generally have more tolerant societies. This does not negate their brutal foreign policies.

The truth is that in warfare and politics, propaganda or getting people to believe your version of affairs is very important and western regimes and their media lie.

However for Arab nationalists/"Islamists" on Pashtun forums this is almost akin to blasphemy, the white man and the white western media are always true. If a white journalist or a white man with some letters after his name (academic) says something then for the Arab nationalists/"Islamists" on this forum it is almost akin to "wahee" (divine revelation).

Watch how these Arab nationalists/"Islamists" will start defending their beloved BBC, an organization which had a paedophile ring in it and had the notorious paedophile, necrophiliac and Satanist, Jimmy Savile in it (his paedophilia, necrophilia and satanism can all be referenced from the same western media these Arab nationalists/"Islamists" revere and follow blindly).

Yes, the western media is always right. It can and must never be questioned or doubted.

We must believe everything and anything it says and shut ourselves off from alternative media or non-western media.

Now the western media fanboys, Arab nationalists & "Islamists" on this forum only want you to read, listen to, watch and accept western media.

They are against people reading/listening to non-western media be it:

                      - Russian, Chinese, Turkish, Iranian, Bangladeshi, Arab etc.

For these fanboys, no only the western media is the truth and everything else must be ignored.

                      @Normal people.

The following article is for normal people (excluding Arab nationalists, Wahabis, "Islamists").

The point in showing this article is that nothing like this will be written in the biased and unfair western media which is now on a crusade against Erdogan.

Turkey’s ‘Tankman’ to appear on coup monument

July 24, 2016 By: Samaa Web Desk Published in Global,

MALATYA, Turkey: “If my death would prevent other deaths and save my country, I would do the same thing a hundred times.”

These are the words of Metin Dogan, Turkey’s ‘TankMan’ who was photographed lying in front of the tracks of a tank at Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport during July 15’s failed coup.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency on Saturday in front of the new ‘July 15 National Will Monument’, which is currently under construction in the Yesilyurt district of Turkey’s eastern Malatya province, Dogan said the structure is being built in order to impress on people the idea of “dying for your country”.

Dogan, a 40-year-old medical student, stood shirtless in front of a Leopard tank before lying down directly in front of its tracks.

The images – which drew comparison with the Tiananmen Square protester who stood in front of a line of tanks during the 1989 student-led demonstrations in Beijing – have appeared across the world since Friday’s failed coup and sparked the hashtag #TankMan.

Yesilyurt District Mayor Haci Ugur Polat said they thought to build the July 15 National Will Monument as a memorial of the day when Turkish people prevented an attempted coup, filling the streets for their own liberty.

Polat said Dogan’s name and photo would also appear on the monument. (Courtesy: Anadolu Agency)

Turkey’s ‘Tankman’ to appear on coup monument | SAMAA TV

Comment: Watch how little attention Metin Dogan receives from the anti-Erdogan western media with their anti-Erdogan agenda who are keen on vilifying Erdogan rather than an objective coverage of Turkish affairs including interviewing families of the over 200 people that died including those who resisted this illegal failed coup.

When will Metin Dogan get much, if any, coverage on the BBC, CNN, Fox, NBC, the Guardian and other western propaganda organs?

However for the Arab nationalists, Wahabis, Islamists of this forum the western media are always truthful, fair and "independent".

I am sure that most intelligent people (which excludes the Arab nationalists, Wahabis and "Islamists" of this forum) would feel that each poster here on this forum is someone who can be questioned.

People may think "Bengal_Tiger is someone who cannot be fully trusted and his views, claims need to be substantiated or challenged". That is a very valid and healthy way of thinking. If people even thought "Bengal_Tiger, has an agenda and I will be sceptical of what he says unless he can prove it", that is also healthy.

If people then extended this to all other posters on this forum that's fine.

Continuing from that we need to understand that media organizations whether they be in brown Iran or white western USA are not perfect organizations solely devoted to telling the truth.

                                1) They have to make money.
                                2) They have to not only interest their viewers/readers but also not alienate them with content that would repel them.

For instance in the UK, The Guardian supposedly caters for left-wing readers, whilst the Daily Telegraph caters for right-wing and they have to "cater" for their readership and their views.

These 2 points above are even things that most westerners agree with and I refer to them as a starting point from which it can be clearly established that the indiscriminate blind acceptance of all western media content is fallacious.

The Arab nationalists, "Islamists", Yemenis, Wahabis of this forum are wrong to glorify and revere the western media.

Here is another article to continue this thread:

Shot by a pro-coup soldier on July 15, Istanbul teenager Adviyye Gül Ismailoglu says that she wants to recover to take to the streets again.
Speaking at her Istanbul home to Anadolu Agency on Friday, the 14-year-old girl says she was shot in front of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality building. The bullet struck her arm and passed through her back.
"When I saw the coup attempt on TV, I was shocked. None of us could let it happen. I wanted to stand in their way.

“After the call of the president [Recep Tayyip Erdoğan], I said 'I will go out'.
“My mother, father and sister and I went out. We planned to go to the governorate, however we were unable to get there as they [pro-coup soldiers] set up a barricade in Sarachane [central Istanbul]", she said.
She says a soldier first fired into the air, before firing at people's feet. After the crowd swelled, a number of soldiers fired at protesters, she says.
"We thought that they are our soldiers and they would not shoot us but we wanted to be martyrs or veterans if they shot us. And I was shot in that moment. When I got shot, I was shocked. I could not believe it," the teenager added.

"But I felt relaxed as I was going to be a veteran or martyr. Firstly I thought that it was a plastic bullet but it wasn't."
Ismailoglu stated that she grew up with patriotism and would go out again if a similar situation occurred.
"I don't regret it. Now I am trying to recover so that I can join the people in the streets. I will fight for my homeland and religion as far as I can and I will never be scared. They have seen that Turks never run away," she said.
Ismailoglu added that she wants to meet President Erdoğan.
The government has said the attempted coup was organized by followers of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization.
The July 15 coup attempt martyred at least 246 people and wounded more than 2,100 who took to the streets to protest the attempt.
Turkey accuses U.S.-based Fetullah Gülen and his so-called parallel state of being behind the failed coup and has called for his extradition to Turkey to face trial.

                                1. Now most of these Arab nationalists, Yemenis, Wahabis, house-negroes and "Islamists" on this forum have probably never heard of "Yeni Safak", as they only believe in following their beloved BBC, CNN, Fox, Guardian, Washington Post and other western propaganda organs.

Yeni Safak just like the Guardian or the Washington Post or Press TV or RT is a biased propaganda organ. It is ideologically militantly pro-Erdogan and for the Turkish context pro-"Islamist" (though that is moderate compared to other countries).

Yeni Safak in other words has a lot of pro-Erdogan propaganda and nonsense about Gulen and his followers. e.g. calling Gulen's followers the "F.E.T.O" terrorist group. There is no such group called "F.E.T.O" and no Gulenist calls himself that, this is just part of Erdogan's propaganda campaign against the Gulenists.

                                2. However aside from Yeni Safak and it's bias, Adviyye Gul is a real person and she really did get shot protesting against the coup.

Will she be mentioned in the western media?

Will she be mentioned in western propaganda organs such as the Guardian, BBC, CNN, NBC, Washington Post, New York Times etc?

Probably not as she does not fit in their agenda which is to vilify Erdogan.

                                3. A lot of people don't realize how brainwashed they are by the western media and the subtle propaganda techniques that it uses. I am trying to englighten, educated people and free people from the western colonialist mental slavery of the western media which the "Islamists", Yemenis, Wahabis of this forum are trying to perpetuate in their love and adoration of their white western masters.

So here is an example (written by me, I worked with someone who has written BBC articles and many people on this forum are more intelligent than that moron) of what sort of article we could expect if western political interests were to glorify Erdogan and vilify the coup.

14 year old heroine acclaimed for defending Turkish democracy.

A young Turkish girl has won widespread national acclaim for her part in what is being seen in Turkey as a nationwide defence of democracy against a failed military coup.

14 year old Adviyye Gul Ismailoglu has been described as a "heroine" and a defender of Turkish democracy against a coup in which over 200 Turkish civilians died over a week ago. Despite the current celebratory mood in town squares across Turkey including Istanbul's popular Taksim square this is alongside feelings of grief and shock. Grief and mourning at the deaths of over 200 Turkish civilians, as well as shock that the very Turkish military entrusted to protect the nation and the public instead bombed and killed members of this same nation and public including bombing the capital, the biggest city and the national parliament.

Analysts in Turkey are saying that this event marks a huge milestone in the history of the Turkish nation and that it will never be the same again. The military long seen by many quarters as a repressive institution blamed for several coups will now be seen with greater suspicion.

Turkish human rights activists amongst many other Turks have lauded Adviyye for her role in defending Turkey's arguably precarious civilian democracy especially due to her gender and young age. A female activist told BTP, "I feel that Adviyye is not just a Turkish heroine, but a heroine for people all across the world because she showed that power belongs to the people and not to tanks, democracy means those with the best arguments win by being voted and not those with the most bullets. This is a victory for humanity".

                                Adviyye Gul Ismailoglu.

Already there has been talk by some Turks of Adviyye gaining a Nobel peace prize for defending democracy and that her actions are not just related to Turkey but to a wider global struggle for civilian democracy as opposed to militarism. However for now Adviyye is just convalescing at home and enjoying being with her family with such thoughts of Nobel Prizes distant from her mind. Despite her smiles many Turks still have fear that the men in uniform in the military after murdering protestors and bombing buildings could yet again try another coup. However Erkan Mustafaoglu told BTP "I think we will be too strong for the soldiers and their guns. This time all parties be it the secular CHP, Kurdish HDP, Turkish nationalist MHP supported the AKP government and were against the coup. Turks as a nation are against the coup. I'd like to thank all those on social media from Sweden, Brazil, Kenya, Thailand who have written to support our democracy".

*Now this was an "article" written by me. The whole thrust is anti-coup and glorifying the girl "defending Turkish democracy". Is it propganda. Yes/No.

Will we read such an article in the western media e.g. propaganda organs such as the BBC, Guardian, CNN?

                                No.

Because the whole western media is now engaged in a propaganda campaign to vilify Erdogan.

The western media has its own agenda and bias, however the Yemenis, Arab nationalists, "Islamists" of this forum in their love and adoration of their white masters cannot accept this but will continue to revere their beloved western media blindly believing everything it says and insulting all those who dare hint that the western media can be "inaccurate.

BarakzaiAbdali as someone who is sensible and can see through the propaganda of the western media, it would be nice to have your opinion on all this.
