Muharram refers to the first month of the Islamic Calendar, both Sunni and Shia Muslims observe the 10th day of Muharram in Afghanistan and worldwide. Many Shia Muslims observe Muharram as a month of mourning and remembrance. This is a day of mourning; it commemorates the martyrdom of Prophet Muhammad's grandson Hussain and his followers at the battle of Karbala.
Digital Engagement Team at U.S CENTCOM wishes peace and harmony for those Muslims who observe Muharam.
