France's Front National may have been given a multi-million-euro loan by a Russian bank as a "reward" for backing President Putin's annexation of Crimea, according to text messages released by Russian hackers.

The publication of excerpts from the messages by the French news website Mediapart hasrekindled accusations that Moscow is bankrolling the Front National and other European far-Right groups.

However, Marine Le Pen, the Front National leader, said it was "insane" to interpret more than 1,100 pages of text messages as showing that she had agreed to endorse the controversial Crimean referendum last year in return for funding.

The messages, alleged to have been sent or received by the head of the Kremlin internal affairs department, Timur Prokopenko, were hacked by a Russian opposition group, Anonymous International, and posted on its website.

One was received on March 17 last year from "Kostia", a figure identified by the opposition group as a governing party MP, Konstantin Rykov.

"Marine Le Pen has officially recognised the results of the referendum in Crimea," it read.
"She hasn't betrayed our expectations," the Kremlin official replied.
"It will be necessary to thank the French in one way or another ... It's important," Kostia said.
"Yes. Super!" the Kremlin official responded.
Eight months later, when the Front National received a 9 million euro (£6.57m) loan from the First Czech-Russian Bank in November last year, Ms Le Pen insisted it was a purely commercial transaction unrelated to her support for Mr Putin over Crimea or other issues.
She said the party had been denied funds by French banks.
The loan was the first instalment of Russian-backed loans of 40m euros that would fund the cash-strapped Front National in the run-up to the 2017 presidential campaign, Mediapart reported.
Ms Le Pen and other party leaders denied knowing the two men in the text exchange.
Ms Le Pen has visited Moscow several times and makes no secret of her admiration for Mr Putin, whom she has often described as "strong".
She has urged France to recognise Crimea as part of Russia.

Staunton, June 5 – The contrast between the support Russian officials are giving to refugees from Ukraine and the complete absence of such support for Circassians fleeing from Syria is leading to the intensification of anti-Russian nationalism among the Circassians in the North Caucasus, according to Irina Babich.

Babich, a senior scholar at the Moscow Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology, says Circassians in the region are reacting that way because they view this latest set of as the latest example of “Russian imperial history,” including the expulsion of the Circassians to the Ottoman Empire in 1864.

And consequently, she suggests, ordinary Circassians are thus increasingly receptive to arguments that their ancestors were victims of genocide, a view Circassian leaders in the diaspora have long advanced and are now gaining increasing success abroad, most recently in Turkey and Estonia.

Babich’s comments on this point are especially important because they came in the course of an interview she gave to Yana Amelina of the Caucasus Geopolitical Club intended to promote the ideas that the Circassians are very much divided and that the genocide issue, which gained international attention in the run-up to the Sochi Olympics, is fading.

While conceding that “from an ethnic point of view,” the Circassians have much in common, politically they remain divided among the republics Stalin created. And this continues at a political level “despite the enormous desire of some political leaders to unite the Circassians” and promote demands for “the recognition of the Circassian genocide.”

Indeed, she says, “the idea of Circassian unity appeared only in the last decade I connection with the attempt at ‘political’ discussion of the problem of the genocide of the Circassians.” But the leaderships of the three republics, Babich continues, “were unable to unite” the citizens of their republics because of the differences among them.

Many have assumed that Russia will not face any serious challenges from the Circassians now that the Sochi Games on which activists placed such hopes have passed and there are no other obvious occasions for raising the genocide issue in the future, the Moscow ethnographer suggests.

But “nevertheless,” she says, “the consequences of Russian activity in the North Caucasus up to now have an impact on the formation of the contemporary attitude of the Circassians to Russia.” That is something Moscow needs to think about and figure out ways to lessen anti-Russian attitudes among that nation.

It would truly be ironic if Moscow’s actions in Ukraine and in support of its aggression there end by triggering a growth in the sense of national identity and purpose among the Circassians and attract additional support to their campaign to gain international recognition of the fact that Russian actions against the Circassians 151 years ago constituted an act of genocide.

Palestine never existed as a nation-state. Palestine was always ruled and dominated by non-Palestinians.

The problem rises when non-Muslims dominate Palestine. Domination of Palestine by non-Muslims is an Islamic problem.

Framing it as a conflict between two nations and two nation-states is weakening the plight of Palestinians.

Secular nationalist Palestinians and Hamas Islamists share the same irrational belief system with their Zionist counterparts. All three believe in the notion of modern nation-state. Jews never had a nation-state like they exist today. Similarly, Palestinians never had a nation-state. Even worse, Palestinains never dominated the region by themselves.

What has changed is, that after the fall of the Othoman empire and subequently, the colonial era, the region faced a power vacuum. Jews used their political and financial means to take advantage of the vauum created.

Therefore, I don't think it is fair to frame this problem as it is framed currently by nationalist Palestinians.

We should oppose the Zionist onslaught against Palestinians, we should oppose to domination of third most holy site in Islam by non-Muslims. We should strive for of a unifying Muslim state that caters the need of all Muslims.

Demanding a Palestinian domination of the region is unrealistic. Palestinians can't even control West Bank and Gaza. They are constantly fighting fellow Palestinians and oppressing each other and stealing the wealth intended to support the poor and oppressed ones.
